This manuscript proposes an Adaptive Linear Neural network (ADALINE) based control for the unified power quality conditioner to protect the critical loads from voltage related power quality problems and mitigate the current related power quality problems produced by nonlinear loads. Due to parallel computing feature and simple algorithm, ADALINE is utilized widely in parameter estimation. In this manuscript, unified ADALINEs based current harmonic extractor for the shunt active power filter is utilized, and an ADALINE based control technique is utilized to produce reference voltages for load voltage compensation. Due to ADALINE control, the necessity of a phase locked loop and conventional filters are omitted, therefore, enabling the system to extract the fundamental components more accurately. Besides, the ability of self-regulating transition from islanded mode to grid-connected mode has ensured that uninterrupted power supply is provided to the critical loads. The system performance is validated through simulation results utilizing MATLAB-Simulink software considering several dynamic conditions, namely unbalanced grid voltage, self-regulating transition, and grid unavailability. The comprehension of a distributed system and its verification is one of the most challenging problems in today's software engineering, commonly referred to as observability. The complexity increases when one cannot control all the components, like in IoT systems composed of third-party devices. The Web of Things standards by the W3C help with this by describing what one can do with an IoT device via network messages. However, no work has leveraged these standards to offer an observability solution that works with any set of IoT devices. This work addresses this gap by proposing a method to verify the correctness of the system by mining its specification from device interactions. Our approach can reverse engineer complex application logic in the form of UML Sequence Diagrams from the analysis of network messages of any protocol between the devices during system runtime, which can be used to programmatically assert the correctness of the mined specification. We have evaluated our approach with three case studies to assess our mining technique, the performance of our algorithms, and the applicability of our contributions to system verification in the IoT. Our results show that our approach can produce accurate Sequence Diagrams that help understand and verify the behavior of IoT systems.

In this paper, an investigation into the application of Theta-λ optimization strategies to improve network performance is made in a challenging wireless communication systems environment subject both Rician fading and multi-user interference (MUI). This paper discusses the dynamic adjustments of Theta (angle-of-arrival) and λ parameters necessary to balance system resiliency against high throughput. We did some simulations to test the performance in terms of latency, throughput as well as accuracy using values such frequency stability and jitter. The results show strong enhancements after the optimization - latency: from a mean of 20 ms to stabilizing at 15ms, throughput: dramatically enhanced from existing baseline of around ~50 to 100 Mbps with enhancement between ~70-120Mbps while maintaining range and jitter reduction halved as average jitter is now less than two milliseconds compared previous Jitter at an optimal value. This had the added benefit of improvements in frequency stability: now, instead of hovering around 2.4 GHz like when we first tested it out-of-the-box, average was up to 2.5 GHz after optimization as well! The results of this study illustrate the potential for enhanced network reliability and availability through fading and interferer mitigation using Theta-λ optimization. This case study is representative of the relevance for real-time adaptive optimization techniques in current-day telecommunications given surging demands on resilient wireless connectivity. Further research directions include enhancement of the optimization algorithms depending on specific network conditions and integration with adaptive strategies for real-time delivery using QoE-oriented mechanisms. © 2025 IEEE.

The Domain Name System (DNS) is the infrastructure and crucial resource of the internet. Self-built DNS systems commonly face management issues such as availability and security. Firstly, we thoroughly analyze the current status and problems of DNS construction, and propose a domain name system construction framework that has high reliability and flexibility. Then, in practical applications, an optimized DNS resolution method is proposed for a multi-operator network environment. Finally, through empirical verification, it has been demonstrated that this method enables users to obtain the optimal CDN service node, thereby improving network service quality. © 2023 IEEE.

To address congestion in the MAC layer and enhance overall performance, the HS-MLCA is proposed. This algorithm incorporates the principles of both Harmony Search and Laying Chicken Algorithm to optimize resource allocation and congestion control. At the MAC layer, HS-MLCA offers several advantages over traditional congestion control schemes. Firstly, it leverages the Harmony Search algorithm, which is known for its ability to exploit the best outcomes in search processes. By exploring the solution space and exploiting promising regions, HS-MLCA optimizes resource allocation in the MAC layer. The integration of the Laying Chicken Algorithm (LCA) further enhances performance by improving convergence speed and solution accuracy. This hybrid approach leverages the strengths of both Harmony Search (HS) and LCA, resulting in more efficient and effective resource management. The Laying Chicken Algorithm simulates the behavior of laying hens in terms of resource allocation and competition. This approach contributes to provide the solution in quality and convergence speed, as the algorithm adapts to the dynamic nature of the MAC layer and the varying traffic conditions in VANETs. By combining the strengths of Harmony Search and Laying Chicken Algorithm, HS-MLCA offers improved performance in terms of congestion control in the MAC layer. It optimizes resource allocation, minimizes collisions and packet loss, reduces delay, and enhances overall network efficiency. These improvements ultimately lead to better quality of service, increased network capacity, and enhanced user experience in VANETs. It is worth noting that the specific performance improvements and benefits of HS-MLCA may vary depending on the implementation details, network conditions, and the specific VANET scenario. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

internet of Medical Things (IoMT) systems have brought transformative benefits to patient monitoring and remote diagnosis in healthcare. However, these systems are prone to various cyber attacks that have a high impact on security and privacy. Detecting such attacks is crucial for implementing timely and effective countermeasures. Machine learning methods have been applied for intrusion detection tasks in various networks, but explaining the reasons for detection decisions remains an obstacle for security analysts. In this paper, we demonstrate that Transformer architecture, the core of the recent revolutionary large language models, constitutes a promising solution for intrusion detection in IoMT networks. We utilized a comprehensive dataset, CICIoMT2024, recently released specifically for these networks. We created a binary classification model for discriminating attacks from benign traffic and a multi-class model for the identification of specific attack types. We applied Explainable AI (XAi) methods such as LIME and SHAP to generate posthoc explanations for the model decisions. We evaluated and compared the quality of explanations based on three metrics: faithfulness, sensitivity, and complexity. Our findings demonstrate that the applied XAI methods enhance transparency in the predictions of Transformer-based intrusion detection models for IoMT networks, proving that both transparency and high performance can be achieved simultaneously. © 2024 IEEE.

The challenges of improving the quality of the automatic control systems of autonomous vehicles are studied. The methodology of the adaptation of video compression technologies for networks with variable and unstable bandwidth is considered from the perspective of a systematic approach to the development of automatic control systems for self-driving vehicles. A modification of the MJPEG-based video stream compression and transmission algorithm is proposed, that allows transmitting up-to-date data and obtaining images of maximum quality in conditions of non-guaranteed network bandwidth. The performance and reliability of the proposed algorithm have been verified during the field tests. © 2023 IEEE.

The Agricultural internet of Things (AIoT) network integrates agriculture with IoT to enhance productivity and improve quality. This infrastructure connects many devices, facilitating extensive information exchange within the network. However, this increased data exchange also heightens the network's susceptibility to attacks and vulnerabilities, posing risks and potentially causing damage to the network infrastructure. Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) are effective solutions for detecting attacks and preserving productivity. Many existing approaches in the literature combine deep learning with IDS to create robust anomaly-based IDS. However, these solutions often encounter challenges related to data collection, which compromises user privacy by centralizing data from various entities into a single entity. Our paper proposes a privacy-preserving IDS based on federated learning techniques and Convolutional neural networks (CNN) to develop a robust IDS with significant performance. We evaluate our experiments using a new dataset, Edge-IIoT, which consists of real IoT traffic across binary, 6-class, and 15-class scenarios with 10 and 15 clients. The results demonstrate the performance of our model across all scenarios, achieving 100% and 99.99% accuracy in binary classification and both 6-class and 15-class scenarios, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

In order to dynamically manage and update networking policies in cloud data centers, Virtual network Functions (VNFs) use, and therefore actively collect, networking state information and in the process, incur additional control signaling and management overhead, especially in larger data centers. In the meantime, VNFs in production prefer distributed and straightforward heuristics over advanced learning algorithms to avoid intractable additional processing latency under highperformance and low-latency networking constraints. This paper identifies the challenges of deploying learning algorithms in the context of cloud data centers, and proposes Aquarius to bridge the application of machine learning (ML) techniques on distributed systems and service management. Aquarius passively yet efficiently gathers reliable observations, and enables the use of ML techniques to collect, infer, and supply accurate networking state information & mdash;without incurring additional signaling and management overhead. It offers fine-grained and programmable visibility to distributed VNFs, and enables both open-and close loop control over networking systems. This paper illustrates the use of Aquarius with a traffic classifier, an auto-scaling system, and a load balancer & mdash;and demonstrates the use of three different ML paradigms & mdash;unsupervised, supervised, and reinforcement learning, within Aquarius, for network state inference and service management. Testbed evaluations show that Aquarius suitably improves network state visibility and brings notable performance gains for various scenarios with low overhead.

This paper discusses the network architecture design and optimization for the convergence of satellite communications and 5G, aiming to build an integrated network with seamless coverage to achieve the advantages of wide-area coverage and efficient bearer. By analyzing the convergence application scenarios, such as hybrid multicast, kiosk and cell backhaul, this paper proposes a network architecture scheme for the convergence of satellite communications and 5G, emphasizing the importance of network integrity and lightweight design. The specific scheme includes the cooperative work of the ground centralized control center, satellite terminals and satellite mobile core network. In order to optimize the network performance, this paper proposes a number of optimization strategies, such as network delay processing, redundancy coverage and area division, and verifies the effectiveness of the scheme through simulation analysis. The study shows that the optimized network architecture can significantly reduce the network packet loss rate and access user delay, improve the overall communication quality, and provide an important reference for the future development of communication networks. © 2024 IEEE.
