Combining the needs of distribution business with the performance of special wireless networks, we propose a load balancing algorithm in heterogeneous wireless networks oriented to smart distribution grid for heterogeneous multi-networks coexistence including LTE special networks, WiMax special networks and the special wireless networks at 230M frequency. Firstly the number of business that current overload networks need to transfer was calculated. Then based on different priorities of transferred services and new calls, different penalty functions of transferred and blocked services were established. The network resources were reasonably allocated to the transferred services and new calls according to call access control strategy obtained by chaos immune algorithm. Simulation results show that the algorithm can balance the loads among the overall heterogeneous system and decrease the service blocking probability. Simultaneously can reduce services transferred times to avoid the bad impact on the quality of services because of transferring of services. In addition, the algorithm can provide different serves for the distribution services with different priorities.

Industrial applications with reliable predictive features are becoming increasingly important. A tracking simulator is an example of an online simulation system with great capabilities that fills the gap left by other predictive applications. In a tracking simulator, a simulation model is run in parallel with a physical process controlled by the process' control system. At the same time, a tracking mechanism is used to keep the state of the simulation model as close as possible to the real process by continually adjusting parameters of the model. The selection of these parameters impacts directly on the quality of the tracking simulation results and it is a complex task in processes with a big number of variables. This paper presents two case studies of tracking simulation where the controlled parameters are selected using different techniques. The first case study deals with a laboratory-scale hot water generation process where the parameters' selection is performed manually. The second case study deals with a combined heat and power production process with major uncertainties in the process structure. In this case, we focus on the variance decomposition method used to determine the most suitable controlled parameters. Conclusions and future work are finally presented.

Making networks aware of applications and vice versa is a current trend in the design of emerging network management and service architectures. Additionally, new protocols and application adaptation approaches have been proposed in order to enhance the transmission of quality of Service (QoS) sensitive data in the best effort internet. This paper contributes to the field by studying means to improve the quality and availability of video streaming services in multi-access networks through controlled bitrate adaptation and multipath capabilities. The paper proposes a network management system to achieve advanced control and improved performance for multipath adaptive HTTP video streaming in multi-access networks. The management system builds upon the Distributed Decision Engine (DDE) framework and it is partially implemented and evaluated in the paper using a multi-access network testbed.

Wireless Local Area network (WLAN) is currently used in the train-ground communication for the urban rail transit systems. Due to the high speed and frequency band limitations, WLAN is unable to meet the demand of future city and intercity rail transit. Time Division-Long Term Evolution (TD-LTE) technology allows to construct a flexible service environment compared with current WLAN based system. In this paper, a TD-LTE based train-ground communication system for the urban rail transit system is given. It integrates all the applications in urban rail transit system. An outdoor testing environment is set up to test the performance of the integrated TD-LTE based train-ground communication system. The packet loss rate, response time, throughput of the TD-LTE system are analyzed. Extensive testing results show that the quality of Service (QoS) of the integrated TD-LTE based train-ground communication system satisfies the requirements of urban rail transit system.

NDN (Named Data networking) is an increasingly important topic with the realm of the future internet architecture research. Naturally, a new congestion control mechanism is important for a new internet architecture. Existing research on NDN congestion control mainly considers the one-Interest-one-Data transport mode, internally, they control the Data sending rate by adjusting the Interest sending rate, thus to realize the congestion control. However, as one of the key features in NDN, in-network storage is rarely exploited. Furthermore, the problem of bursty traffic is also not fully considered and corresponding resolution is absent. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel congestion control module based on interacting with Content Store (CS-based) in NDN network to reduce packet loss caused by bursty traffic by taking advantage of the characteristic of in-network storage of NDN. CS-based is an independent module which can combine with existing NDN congestion control mechanisms (non-CS-based) to further reduce the packet loss rate caused by congestion especially by bursty traffic, increase throughput and improve the network resource utilization. Simulation results based on ndnSIM indicate that, compared with non-CS-based, CS-based has better performance under the circumstances that bursty traffic occurs and can mitigate NDN congestion better.
