NDN (Named Data networking) is an increasingly important topic with the realm of the future internet architecture research. Naturally, a new congestion control mechanism is important for a new internet architecture. Existing research on NDN congestion control mainly considers the one-Interest-one-Data transport mode, internally, they control the Data sending rate by adjusting the Interest sending rate, thus to realize the congestion control. However, as one of the key features in NDN, in-network storage is rarely exploited. Furthermore, the problem of bursty traffic is also not fully considered and corresponding resolution is absent. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel congestion control module based on interacting with Content Store (CS-based) in NDN network to reduce packet loss caused by bursty traffic by taking advantage of the characteristic of in-network storage of NDN. CS-based is an independent module which can combine with existing NDN congestion control mechanisms (non-CS-based) to further reduce the packet loss rate caused by congestion especially by bursty traffic, increase throughput and improve the network resource utilization. Simulation results based on ndnSIM indicate that, compared with non-CS-based, CS-based has better performance under the circumstances that bursty traffic occurs and can mitigate NDN congestion better.

Heterogeneous cellular network (HCN) consists of macro, pico and femto cells within the same geographical area. This network utilizes available spectrum efficiently using frequency reuse technique. Due to frequency reuse the HCN network suffers from inter-cellular interference. To reduce interference and to maintain QoS of pico and femto cell users, Time Domain Resource partitioning was used which improves QoS of pico and femto video users by compensating the macrocell quality. To improve the overall performance of the complete HCN, in this paper a new technique called user specific resource allocation (USR) and power control is proposed. With this scheme, the users are divided into groups based on the Signal-leakage-plus-noise ratio(SLNR) metric. Users with low SLNR are grouped as interfering users for them a semi-orthogonal resource allocation strategy is developed which reduces interference and improves the video quality of the pico and femto without degrading the macrocell video quality. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme provides better video quality for pico and femto cell users without degrading performance of macro cell compared to the existing system.

This work proposes the quality-of-Service Monitoring and controlling Driver (QoSMCD), a software-based mechanism that improves the network-on-Chip (NoC) performance by controlling the packet injection rate, thus reducing link congestion without modifying the hardware. The proposed mechanism works together with the task scheduling policy for controlling the injection of packets into the NoC. This work serves as a basis for a high-level control system for traffic injection implemented in cooperation with the scheduling of a real-time operating system.

Cloud systems include both locally based servers at user premises and remote servers and multiple Clouds that can be reached over the internet. This paper describes a smart distributed system that combines local and remote Cloud facilities. It operates with a task allocation system that takes decisions to allocate tasks dynamically to the service that offers the best overall quality of Service and a routing overlay which optimizes network delay for data transfer between clouds. internet-scale experiments exhibit the effectiveness of our approach in adaptively distributing workload across multiple clouds.
