Many application scenarios have been revealed with Sensornets. An Error Correcting Code (ECC) will be advantageous to communications in these applications. With the different expecting on efficiency, security, usability, etc, different codes have been constructed for various purposes. The methods based on algebra theory can work well for constructing simple and usability codes. The theory of algebraic geometry can help construct more complex codes with different properties. With the applications of these codes, it is convenient to arrive the purpose in digital communications.

This paper presents a new method for solving a linear discrete-time finite horizon optimal control problem (FHOCP) with quadratic cost and linear constraints on the states and inputs. Such a FHOCP needs to be solved online, at each sampling instant, in predictive control. In order to solve such a FHOCP, it is necessary to solve a quadratic programming (QP) problem. The proposed technique uses an inexact interior-point method (IIPM) to solve the QP problem. This new technique is computationally more efficient than the Riccati Recursion method of Rao, Wright and Rawlings (Journal of Optimization theory and applications, 1998), when measured in terms of the number of floating point operations. The computational advantage is obtained by the use of an inexact Newton method, and with the use of novel preconditioners in the minimum residual (MINRES) method. The computational performance of this method is demonstrated by numerical results.

Design of feedback controls for distributed parameter systems in fluid flows remains a formidable task for researchers. One popular approach is "reduce-then-contol" which has been successfully implemented by first developing a reduced-order model and then applying the control theory. However, this approach has several drawbacks, such as ensuring the unknown feedback functional gains are well represented in the reduced-basis. Control of vortex shedding past a circular cylinder has become a canonical problem to test or validate a flow control design. Control of the von Karman vortex street has many applications, e.g. when designing ocean platforms-as the vortex shedding induces an oscillatory fatigue load on structural components. In this paper, we follow "control-then-reduce" approach to control von Kármán vortex street (periodic shedding) in a channel using cylinder rotation as the actuation. The approach is to linearize the Navier-Stokes equations about the desired (unstable) steady-state flow and design the control for the regulator problem using distributed parameter control theory. The Oseen equations are discretized using finite element methods and the resulting LQR control problem requires the solution to algebraic Riccati equations with very high rank. The feedback gains are computed using model reduction in a "control-then-reduce" framework. Model reduction is used to efficiently solve both Chandrasekhar and Lyapunov equations. The reduced Chandrasekhar equations are used to produce a stable initial guess for a Kleinman-Newton iteration. The high-rank Lyapunov equations associated with Kleinman-Newton iterations are solved by applying a novel model reduction strategy. numerical results for a 2-D cylinder wake problem at a Reynolds number of 100 demonstrate that this approach works when perturbations from the steady-state solution are small enough. In this study, the problems of stability and stabilisation of singular Markovian jump systems with external discontinuities and saturating inputs are addressed. A design procedure is proposed to determine simultaneously a state feedback controller and an associated domain of safe admissible states for which the regularity, the absence of impulsive behaviour and the stochastic stability in mean square sense of the closed-loop systems are guaranteed. This design procedure is based on linear matrix inequality technique (LMI) and the sequential linear programming matrix method (SLPMM). A numerical example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Autocatalytic pathways are frequently encountered in biological networks. One such pathway, the glycolytic pathway, is of special importance and has been studied extensively. Using tools from linear systems theory, our previous work on a simple two dimensional model of glycolysis demonstrated that autocatalysis can aggravate control performance and contribute to instability. Here, we expand this work and study properties of nonlinear autocatalytic pathway models (of which glycolysis is an example). Changes in the concentration of metabolites and catalyzing enzymes during the lifetime of the cell can perturb the system from the nominal operating point of the pathway. We investigate effects of such perturbations through the estimation of invariant subsets of the region of attraction around nominal operating conditions (i.e., a measure of the set of perturbations from which the cell recovers). numerical experiments demonstrate that systems that are robust with respect to perturbations in parameter space have easily "verifiable" region of attraction properties in terms of proof complexity.

Discretising effectively a linear singular differential system by choosing an appropriate sampling period

Two main goals are to discretise the solution of an autonomous linear singular continuous-time system and to compare the discretised with the continuous solution at fixed time moments. Practically speaking, we are interested in such kind of systems, since they are inherent in many physical, economical and engineering phenomena. The complex Kronecker canonical form decomposes the singular system into five sub-systems, whose solutions are obtained. Moreover, in order for the norm of the difference between the two solutions to be smaller than a fully pre-defined, acceptable bound, the sampling period should be arranged in a particular interval. A numerical example is also available.

Special time-varying Lyapunov function for robust stability analysis of linear parameter varying systems with bounded parameter variation

The robust stability of linear continuous-time uncertain systems in polytopic domains is investigated. The uncertain parameters are assumed as time varying with bounded rates of variation. The robust stability conditions are obtained from the definition of a Lyapunov function with a particular structure, depending on integer powers k of the dynamic uncertain time-varying matrix of the system and on a parameter-dependent matrix to be determined. As a consequence, parametrised linear matrix inequality conditions can be derived in terms of k for a particular structure of the decision variables. As k grows, the robust stability conditions can take into account bounds on the successive time derivatives of the uncertain parameters whenever this information is available, reducing the conservativeness of the evaluations. numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

Adaptive H_∞ control for a class of non-linear systems using neural networks

An adaptive H-infinity controller is designed for a class of non-linear dynamical systems by using neural networks (NNs) to approximate the unknown system function. It is shown that under bounded initial conditions, the H-infinity performance from the external disturbance to the controlled output is achieved with a prescribed attenuation level. A systematic design procedure is then developed for the synthesis of the adaptive H-infinity controller by solving two linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

The problem of delay-dependent stabilisation for singular linear continuous-time systems with multiple internal incommensurate constant point delays is investigated. The condition when a singular system subject to point delays is regular independent of time delays is given and it can be easily tested with numerical or algebraic methods. Based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach and the descriptor integral-inequality lemma, a sufficient condition for delay-dependent stability is obtained. The main idea is to design multiple memory state feedback control laws such that the resulting closed-loop system is regular independent of time delays, impulse free and stable via solving matrix inequality problem. An explicit expression for the desired memory state feedback control law is also given. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness and the availability for the proposed method.

Repetitive control by output error for a class of uncertain time-delay systems

The problem of designing output error controllers to track periodic reference signals for a class of uncertain linear time-delay systems subject to periodic disturbances is addressed. A repetitive controller, which is a type of output error controller, is developed for these systems and a sufficient condition for stability of the closed-loop system is derived by applying the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). In order to relax the stability condition, the theory of the modified repetitive control ( RC) system is extended to the systems represented by irrational transfer functions. Based on the extended theory of the modified RC system, a modified repetitive controller, another type of output error controller, is developed for these systems and sufficient conditions for stability of the closed-loop system are derived in terms of a frequency-domain criterion and LMI. numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controllers.
