In accordance with the current trend of Industry 4.0, we propose in this paper a newly designed hardware (HW) and software (SW) cooperative control system for a die-cutting machine tool with flexible punching functionality. Different from conventional PCL-based die-cutting machine tools where most cutting functionalities are pre-programmed in the hardware circuits, the proposed PC-based system integrates HW and SW modules with bi-directional signal communications through a motion controller to provide more flexible and accurate timing control of the cutting process. Specifically, as a closed-loop control, punch depth signals from the HW sensors are fed into the SW computational module for real-Time analysis of punch depth. Then, the punch actuation commands generated by the SW module are sent to the HW actuators for variable control of the time during the cutting process. With respect to different punch depths, such a flexible regulation of time enables easy adjustment of punching controls for various types of fabrics and leathers in the production line. In addition, the proposed system also features a double safety protection, both in the HW and SW levels, for simultaneous cooperative reset of cutting operations to safe positions. © 2017 IEEE.

Many researchers have developed intelligent monitoring systems for the detection purposes in various environmental conditions. The environment conditions are critical in most of the cases where it is unsafe for the humans to get access. In such cases, the walking robots are usually sent for monitoring purposes. Among those intelligent monitoring robots, octapod is the focus of this research as it can be made compact and flexible. This paper focuses on the design and hardware implementation of octapod robotic system which is power effective. The Octapod has eight legs along with the sensors attached to it. The robotic system is designed using single chip microcontroller ATMEGA 328.6. The channel generates the pulse width modulated signal automatically when it is sensed, the controls the steering gears takes place, so that it can make the Octapod robot walk. The Arduino platform is used for the operation of robot. The movement operation is implemented with DC micro servo closed loop control with angular position and angular velocity feedback. The wireless module is used for communication purpose. The location of the Octapod is identified using the MATLAB programming tool box. The robot locomotion is implemented experimentally similar to spider movement. It is controlled automatically and manually by MATLAB GUI. Results are experimentally verified. The robot walks successfully.

The FIELD system will deliver advanced analytics and deep learning capabilities for FANUC CNCs, robots, peripheral devices, and sensors used in automation systems. CNC Software will showcase its new Mastercam 2017 at IMTS, which brings a new suite of programming tools focused on delivering speed, automation and efficiency for all machining jobs. CGTech's Vericut version 8 will be showcased at IMTS, with the latest update featuring a new Ribbon Bar that provides quick access to the Vericut functions users need for their specific workflow. The contemporary industry requires that every element of a production line will fit into the global schema, which is connected with the global structure of business. There is the need to find the practical and effective ways of the design and management of the production process. The term "effective" should be understood in a manner that there exists a method, which allows building a system of nodes and relations in order to describe the role of the particular machine in the production process. Among all the machines involved in the manufacturing process, industrial robots are the most complex ones. This complexity is reflected in the realization of elaborated tasks, involving handling, transporting or orienting the objects in a work space, and even performing simple machining processes, such as deburring, grinding, painting, applying adhesives and sealants etc. The robot also performs some activities connected with automatic tool changing and operating the equipment mounted on the wrist of the robot. Because of having the programmable control system, the robot also performs additional activities connected with sensors, vision systems, operating the storages of manipulated objects, tools or grippers, measuring stands, etc. For this reason the description of the robot as a part of production system should take into account the specific nature of this machine: the robot is a substitute of a worker, who performs his tasks in a particular environment. In this case, the model should be able to characterize the essence of "employment" in the sufficient way. One of the possible approaches to this problem is to treat the robot as an object, in the sense often used in computer science. This allows both: to describe certain operations performed on the object, as well as describing the operations performed by the object. This paper focuses mainly on the definition of the object as the model of the robot. This model is confronted with the other possible descriptions. The result

The recently developed Kinect sensor has opened a new horizon to Human-Computer Interface (HCI) and its native connection with Microsoft's product line of Xbox 360 and Xbox One video game consoles makes completely hands-free control in next generation of gaming. Games that requires a lot of degree of freedoms, especially the driving control of a car in racing games is best suitable to be driven by gestures, as the use of simple buttons does not scale to the increased number of assistive, comfort, and infotainment functions. In this paper, we propose a Mamdani type-I fuzzy inference system based data processing module which effectively takes into account the dependence of actual steering angle with the distance of two palm positions and angle generated with respect to the sagittal plane. The FIS output variable controls the duration of a virtual "key-pressed" event which mocks the users pressing of actual keys assigned to control car direction in the original game. The acceleration and brake(deceleration) of the vehicle is controlled using the relative displacement of left and right feet. The proposed experimental setup, interfacing Kinect and a desktop based racing game, has shown that the virtual driving environment can be easily applied to any games belonging to this particular genre.

Programming an industrial robot by using a teach pendent is a tedious and time-consuming task that requires a considerable amount of work-related skills, robotics knowledge and experience. robot applications design also requires a tremendous amount of programming skills and input/output controls to make them useful. Obviously, a good robot programmer is a key factor of successful robot applications. In order to teach manufacturing engineering technology (MET) students to program industrial robots, we propose an effective learning approach for industrial robot programming in our curriculum. Research indicates that the use of off-line programming (OLP) method for learning industrial robot programming has a positive impact on reducing the robotics lab programming time (Ex. only two robots are available for 20 students), reducing the downtime of equipment when programming new workpieces/variants, and accelerating programming complex paths. This paper describes the development of off-line programming method to help students learn industrial robot programming. The off-line programming method is based on examples from industry and illustrates several good robot program designs. Overall, The OLP method provides not only our students an excellent learning environment but also a powerful teaching tool for MET instructors. Our results indicate that the students have the following competence to: 1) study multiple scenarios of a robotic workcell before any decision is committed, 2) determine the cycle time for a sequence of manufacturing operations, 3) Use libraries of pre-defined high-level commands for certain types of robotic applications, 4) minimize production interruption and help meet flexible automation goals, and 5) ensure that a robotic system will do the functions that an end-user needs it to do.
