Modern robots are complex technical devices with the most valuable properties being the ability to perform certain tasks better, quicker and more accurately than a human being. Therefore, even there are many areas of robot application, they were first introduced in the areas requiring a lot of mechanical and simple manual work: milking robots;sheep shearing robots;maize field robots that cut pest-damaged leaves to prevent further spreading;mechanical weeding and micro-spraying robots;greening, seedbed preparation, spraying, growing are performed with smaller agricultural robots that navigate using GPS guidelines;handling robots;biological object detection robots. To be more specific, biological object detection robots in agriculture face numerous challenges as only few of the listed applications do not require robot movement, because in agriculture the majority of operations are related to movement of machines. Moreover, in contrast to industry, when performing the assigned tasks they need to interfere with various plants, soil, irregularities of various types, biological objects, etc., which impairs their accuracy and mobility and results in different power required for the same action. Therefore, the subject of the study in this article is a robotic arm for detecting and removing/eliminating biological objects, and the goal of the study was to develop the methods for managing the movement-dynamics system as well as for planning the trajectory of the robotic arm ensuring the manipulator will detect biological objects retaining wide enough movement spectrum and consistency of movement modes under the influence of external uncontrolled disturbances. Based on the above, a model of a robotic arm was developed after calculating the missing parameters for the engines of the experimental robotic arm, which was able to generate a control signal and calculate the linear and angular velocities and accelerations of the kinematic chain motion characteristics, linear accelerati

This article presents the results of tests of mastic containing mixed tiller (limestone dust/hydrated lime) and Fisher-Tropsch synthetic wax. Synthetic wax content was controlled up to 3% (wlw). The ratio of filler in the bitumen was from 0.5 to 3 (\\/w), with hydrated lime content of up to 30% w/w. The rheological properties of different mastic compositions were determined with a rheometer equipped with two parallel plates at 60 degrees C using oscillating load. The primary purpose of the article was to determine the nature of mastic stiffness changes in the context of using hydrated lime and synthetic wax as the tiller. Consequently, the article proposes a method for evaluation of the critical value of the tiller phase in the phase of bitumen modified with synthetic wax. The proposed model of the mathematical function was used to determine the nature of mastic structuring throughout the range of the experiment. The model was also used to determine the critical concentration of the tiller in the bitumen phase. It was demonstrated that below the critical filler concentration the mastic behaved in a significantly different manner from the behaviour observed above this critical concentration. When the critical concentration of the tiller was exceeded, it resulted hi an excessive increase of mastic stiffness, which was considered in the model.

Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) based Transportation system have been reported as the future of human society. The SOFC based systems are pollution free and it converts fuel to electrical energy at high efficiency. The use of these fuel cell electric vehicle as stationary power production unit has added to the future prospects of such systems. This will help in creating a network of decentralized small scale power production units in the grid. Such power production units can be used effectively to meet the peak power demands in the *** paper proposes a grid tied Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) system. The mathematical modelling of fuel cell given literature has been analysed and a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) model has been simulated. The SOFC has been further connected to a boost converter and an inverter to create a grid connected power generation system. Synchronous reference frame (SRF) theory has been used to syncronise the output of the proposed system to the grid. The proposed system has also been simulated using MATLAB with its Simpower system Blockset. The performance of the proposed system is found to be satisfactory. © 2019 IEEE.

Combination of cyclic loading, fine particles and moisture within a bulk carrier’s cargo can result in liquefaction causing the vessel to list or capsize and possibly loss of human life. In order to investigate the origin of cargo liquefaction during transportation, a new device has been developed at Ifsttar in the framework of the Franco-German European LiquefAction project. The device is inspired from the Rolling Test suggested by ClassNK (2012), but has been designed to support similar stresses than those observed in a vessel transporting ore cargo, and can be used in a 80×g macrogravity field in the Ifsttar‘s 5.5m radius geo-centrifuge. The rolling test device performances are presented, as well as the results of the first test performed on iron concentrate, with a flat geometry and de-aired water as interstitial fluid. High void ratio has been chosen to potentially generate a liquefaction occurrence in some part of the model subjected to rolling movement. The results are analysed in terms of settlement, total stress and pore pressure evolution. © The authors and IGS: All rights reserved, 2019.

Stochastic models which are applied to model queues where the traffic intensity is greater than one and to health care models which involves huge sized populations such as human cells, viruses etc., faces the challenge of very huge number of states and hence demands huge computational cost. We studied the upper level stochastic effects in some of these models. We found that the upper level stochastic effects can’t be omitted in many situations;but can be remarkably similar to the upper level effects in a differential equation model, closely related to the stochastic model. Given a huge dimensioned stochastic model, we replaced the upper level stochastic effects with the upper level dynamics of a suitably defined differential equation model, to study certain system performance measures. This resulted in a reduction in the computational cost involved with the use of the stochastic model with a large number of states. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Bionformatics and pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics (PKPD) systems are two conjugated tools to intensively explore the effect of new drugs on the human body running in-silico analysis. Usually, PKPD models do not consider all the biological reactions that explain the pharmaceutical effect. A complementary non-parametric modeling can be useful to recover the PKPD dynamics despite the uncertainties and external perturbations effect, which can reduce the degree of uncertainties on the drug evaluation. The aim of this study is to get a feasible non-parametric model of PKPD models using a bioinformatics inspired evaluation of antibacterial drug doses. A class of bioinformatics inspired differential neural networks (DNNs) responding to the dose modification provides the non-parametric approximation of the PKPD dynamics. The DNN modeling strategy was applied to approximate the dynamics of PKPD models under four different dosing regimes. The modeling strategy estimated the bacteria survival (measured as the logarithm of the colony forming units per milliliter) after the drug application. The same adjusted DNN-based model confirmed the ability of designing an off-line lab for evaluating diverse dosing strategies of antibacterial pharmaceutical.

The soil-structure interaction (SSI) effects can substantially alter the behaviour of structures during earthquakes. Implementation of SSI within the seismic analysis often leads to lower stresses in the structure and therefore a more economical design. The recently introduced provisions in European and American codes allow for this type of approach. However, consideration of SSI can also lead to the observation of unfavourable effects (undetectable in a fixed-base analysis) due to the modification of the structure's dynamic properties. Examples of unfavourable effects include higher global displacements or story drifts, increases of the base or story shear forces, higher post-elastic demands in the structural members or the collision of adjacent buildings separated by an insufficient structural joint. These unfavourable effects can be related to various parameters such as the structural system (frames or shear walls), foundation type (shallow or piles), geometry of the foundation, height of the building, soil type, seismic input, presence of adjacent buildings, etc. Under these circumstances, the integration of SSI into the current structural design becomes essential. As the mathematical formulation of the phenomenon is very complex and involves many parameters, the definition of complete numerical models is difficult. The provisions in the codes are often general and do not give the practicing engineers clear modelling solutions. An analysis of the current situation in the field of SSI is carried out, with a focus on the design of reinforced concrete structures. Based on an extensive literature review, the unfavourable seismic effects and the main parameters that determine them are identified. Conclusions are drawn regarding the situations when SSI should be mandatory and on the different possibilities of implementing SSI in the structural design. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The use of decentralised energy resources (DER) in private households will change the load and feed-in behaviour in the future and thus influence the power flow at the low-voltage level. Therefore, grid planning, especially at a low-voltage level, must be adapted. Hence, new approaches for modelling the residual load of a household, with regard to different portfolios of DER, must be addressed. For this, an existing mathematical optimisation model to optimise both, a household's investment decision in DER and their operating times, is extended using machine learning (ML) approaches. Several methods of ML have been tested, however, the highest solution quality was achieved using neural networks. Following this, the prediction of the investment in DER by classification algorithms with convolutional neural networks shows the highest agreement with the deterministic approach. In the case of the prediction of DER operating times and residual loads based on them, recurrent neural networks with long short-term memory are used. Finally, this study indicates that the resulting predicted time series of residual load can be used for power flow calculations in the low-voltage grid. This allows grid calculations to be performed depending on existing or future political and market conditions.

Models with postponement are an alternative to finite capacity queues in which overflow jobs are irrevocably lost. If the buffer is empty, an arriving customer enters in to it and his service starts immediately. In case the buffer is non-empty, but not full, with some probability depending on the number of works in the buffer direct entry to buffer is permitted. When a customer is rejected from the buffer, he is offered a pool of postponed work of infinite capacity. In this case the customer chooses to enter the pool with certain probability. On the contrary, if the buffer is full at a customer arrival epoch, the customer decides to join the orbit with certain probability;however the system may reject him with some probability. At a service completion epoch, if the number of customers in the buffer is less than a pre-assigned quantity, head of the pooled customers will be transferred to the buffer with a specified probability. In the N-policy introduced in this paper, the number of continuously served customers, taken from the buffer, is counted at each service completion epoch. When it reaches a pre-assigned number N, then the one ahead of all waiting in the pool gets transferred to the buffer for immediate service. We study its long run behaviour. Several system performance measures, and a few numerical illustrations are provided. A game theoretical approach to the queue is also introduced. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
