Ozone studies have received much attention worldwide mainly because of the adverse effect to human and environment. This study aims to investigate the behaviour of ozone concentration from different types of monitoring stations in Klang Valley, Malaysia namely Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Klang. The box counting method is used to examine the existence of scale-invariance in the ozone concentration time series. By applying this method, the ozone time series are transferred into the box dimension (DB) - threshold (Th) plot and the result from this plot are compared to the traditional statistical parameters. The analysis obtained confirmed the existence of scale invariance in the ozone time series and this result are used to characterize the behaviour of ozone concentration time series based on different types of monitoring stations.

Enormous cost and manpower utilization encountered in constructing a water resource project demands a great deal of attention in devising precise Rainfall-Runoff models for its successful performance. These models are dependent on the physiographic, climatic and biotic characteristics of the basin. These factors sometimes induce either a linear, non-linear or highly complex behaviour among the rainfall and runoff parameters. The unstructured nature of Rainfall-Runoff relations has diverted the attention of researchers towards Soft Computing tools which, harnesses reasoning, intuition, consciousness and wisdom possessed by human beings. Soft Computing being a multi-disciplinary field uses a variety of statistical, probabilistic and optimization tools which complement each other to produce its three main branches viz., Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms and Fuzzy Logic. These techniques, whether complementing each other or working on their own, are able to model complex or unknown relationships which are either nonlinear or noisy. The review paper presents an introduction to these techniques and discusses their applications in modelling Rainfall-Runoff relations which to some extent have replaced time consuming conventional mathematical techniques with wiser and time saving computing tools.

Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) has been widely used in variable-speed Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS). The aim of this paper is to present a comparative study in term of the dynamic performances between two classical controllers Proportional Integral (PI) and Integral Proportional (IP) to control a DFIG during grid faults, which are represented by a voltage dip on all three phases of the grid voltage. Firstly, we are developed the model mathematic of the generator. Then, we introduced the technical of stator-flux-oriented vector control to decouple the stator active and reactive powers to simulate the behaviour of the wind turbine generator during fault conditions. The results of simulations realized under Matlab/Simulink, are analyzed and interpreted to show the performances of each controller.

The paper presents the experimental results obtained on an experimental device where a horizontal rubber wire is stretched by a transversal oscillating force - that is a body with an acceleration sensor attached, placed at the middle of it that oscillates freely. A nonlinear model was proposed for the experimental test rig, the differential equation of motion was offered and a series of curves were traced and compared to the experimental ones. One can conclude that the theoretical model certifies very well the behaviour of the real model. An open problem remains the manner of adopting the parameters characteristic to the dissipative element of the system.

This paper aims to motivate the impact of personality on essential elements of the behaviour of agents (e.g. decision-making processes, emotions, moods, or coping strategies). We show that available works on agent behaviour and works that investigate the nature of emotions are somewhat disconnected and that bridging this gap is able to further our efforts in conceptualising humanbehaviour in software agents. We argue that such a connection requires a formalisation that specifies the concept of personality and the concept of decision-making processes jointly.

Fractional systems are known to model complex dynamics with a reduced number of parameters. This paper deals with identification of discrete fractional order systems based on non-linear Hammerstein models. Such systems consist of a static non-linear block followed by a linear dynamic system. The polynomial non-linear state space equations (PNLSS) are used to represent the fractional Hammerstein system. In this study, a Particle Swarm Optimization algorithme (PSO) is used to identify the Hammerstein system parameters. Different simulations test the method fitting ability to approximate the non linear fractional system behaviour at various signal to noise ratios.

Chaos is a behavior that is not periodic, apparently random, where the system response is still recurrent, but no longer in a predictable way. A non-linear system with an electronic feedback can show bistable behaviour and may produce chaotic response. Chaotic signal can be utilized for secure encryption of a communication system. In this paper, we have designed a novel simple electronic circuit to obtain a chaotic transfer function of nature Sin 2 X. We also have demonstrated the mathematicalmodelling of the circuit and have made it chaotic by varying system bias and parameters using MATLAB. The circuit is designed in lab and output is obtained using digital storage oscilloscope.

Cyberphysical systems, with their interdependence between physical behaviour and digital control, need insights from frequency domain control engineering, state space control engineering and discrete formal systems theory for their proper description. Neglecting any of these, results in descriptions that omit essential details. Hybrid Event-B is a formalism that enables all the relevant detail to be assimilated. A case study based on yaw control for the KURT e-vehicle is used as a testbed to explore the effective interaction between the various needed disciplines in exploring a specific design issue, the formalisation of yaw control discretization, using Hybrid Event-B.

Modified Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation(ABMS) is used for modeling the astronaut's behavior during Extravehicular Activity(EVA). Firstly, complexity of EVA tasks and key features of the astronaut's behavior during EVA are analyzed in details. And then, based on the common methodologies, a modified ABMS method integrated combined discrete-continuous simulation is introduced. At last, how the method is implemented is presented with a typical application example.

In this pilot study we investigate the effectiveness of blood clot in an abattoir porcine artery, using a novel thrombectomy device. We show using histological staining wall, that when suction pressures of up to 70 KPa are applied, there appears to be no damage to the artery wall. We conclude that this device may potentially be very useful as a blood clot removal device in human arteries.
