The modern rapid development of means and technologies for education is aimed at reducing classroom classes and remote control of knowledge and skills of education seekers. The adaptation of the education system to the remote regime has become especially relevant throughout the world during the period of quarantine restrictions caused by COVID-19. In Ukraine, the urgency of developing and implementing info-communication systems in the education process has been intensified by the martial law since February 24, 2022. The urgent need to rebuild a large number of buildings and structures destroyed and damaged by hostilities makes special demands on graduates of construction educational institutions. However, the fundamental studying of specialists in this field in remote mode requires specialized info-communication systems, creating of which need taking part of specialists in the field. On-line testing is the main means of guaranteeing the quality of the modern educational process. Therefore, the article presents the specialized on-line testing system "Fast Knowledge Test", which was developed at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture with the participation of stakeholders. The system operates during 2021-2023 and while the monitoring of students’ knowledge and skills remains with the teacher, but the service provides for its automation.

Metasurfaces (MTSs) enable efficient manipulation of electromagnetic radiation. control over reflection direction is one of the most popular applications, especially in the context od smart radio environment. In the past years, significant progress has been made in designing anomalous reflectors, leading to the development of various synthesis approaches, ranging from analytical models to optimization-based methods. In this paper, we derive a closed-form solution for the complex scattering coefficients of all the propagating and evanescent Floquet modes (FMs) in the canonical problem of anomalous reflection based on a homogenized impenetrable impedance MTS with a tangent-like profile. Our findings reveal that the phase of the scattered FMs is influenced by the spatial discretization of the MTS. This insight is crucial for the practical applications of anomalous reflectors, as real-world MTSs are implemented using physical elements discretizing the continoud homogenized impedance profile. We believe that our study is particularly interesting for researchers working on metasurfaces, communication technologies, and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces.

The increasing industrialization and overpopulation in recent decades have necessitated the development of new, more environmentally friendly modes of transportation. Problems with sensors might arise in terms of dependability, security, scalability, and privacy of collected data. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) that function with the Internet of Things (IoT) have emerged as a feasible alternative for handling this problem. With the assist of the Internet of Things (IoT), Wi-Fi sensor networks can accumulate records in real-time from sensors set up in homes, automobiles, and different urban infrastructure. This statistics may be easily accumulated, analyzed, and communicated to centralized control centers through IoT, enabling visitor’s management government to make well-knowledgeable picks in actual-time. Hence, this look at proposes IoT-enabled Wireless Sensor Networks for smart Transportation Systems (IoT-WSN-STS) for monitoring visitors instances, using styles, environmental variables, and extra. The paper appears into this holistic method to sell environmentally pleasant transportation networks by encouraging inexperienced riding behavior and reducing fuel fees. Large-scale deployment and control of WSNs and IoT structures in smart transportation networks provide specific troubles discussed on this have a look at. As a result, there is considerable capacity for reinforcing city mobility's efficacy, protection, and sustainability via incorporating WSNs with IoT in smart transportation systems and site visitor’s enforcement.

There are demands for digital high precision power grid electrical energy meters, but with low price, as millions of units are needed for households around the EU. Most solutions are based on standard analog to digital converters. A different approach, Stochastic Digital Measurement Method uses cheap, high speed, low resolution flash-A/D converters with added dither, a well-defined and controlled statistical random noise signal with the uniform probability density function. It decouples the quantization error of low resolution converters and produces the average value of the input signal. High precision and high speed/bandwidth are two opposing demands in regular sampling, but by measuring signals over finite periods of time with this novel method, high precision results are obtained. A fully detailed mathematical model was developed for a multibit stochastic instrument, and the hardware prototype of a 4-bit resolution Stochastic Digital Electrical Energy Meter was produced. It was shown that full digital control over its main functions, high precision at wide bandwidth and low cost, make it ideal solution for a meter in smart Grid applications in Industry 4.0 environments. The prototype has measurement uncertainty of 80 ppm, up to 25 times better than commercially available models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.

The accurate prediction of power load is of great significance for the safe operation of the smart grid and the power transactions of market participants since the power load data series exhibits nonlinearity and volatility. In this paper, a new hybrid approach for deterministic short-term power load forecasting is proposed based on wavelet transform and deep deterministic policy gradient. In this approach, the original load data sequence is first decomposed by wavelet transform into some sub-frequency load sequences, and each sub-frequency can have better outlines and behavior. A deep deterministic policy gradient model is then employed to extract nonlinear features and invariant structures of each sub-frequency for power load. Finally, a new reward function for imbalanced samples is developed to effectively evaluate the policy score of the actor-network and further improve the prediction performance of the deep deterministic policy gradient. The proposed deterministic forecasting approach is used to actual power load data from an independent system operator from a city in China. The prediction results of the proposed method are presented in case studies, which have been demonstrated to achieve superior performance in terms of seasons and various prediction horizons compared with other prediction models.

In this paper, a complete model of a grid-connected Wind/PV/Battery microgrid is presented. The proposed system is composed of a 5.45 kW photovoltaic generator (PVG); a 6-kW permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind turbine (WT) and 14.4 kWh lead acid-based battery storage. The hybrid system is connected to the grid through a 20 kVA three-phase voltage source inverter, an LCL filter, and a local load. The LCL filter is designed to attenuate ripple current to 20% and total harmonic distortion (THD) below 5%. An optimized damping resistance is added to the capacitor filter to attenuate the resonance phenomenon. The extracted power from renewable sources (Wind & PV) is optimized using maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms. Perturb and observe (PO) algorithm is used for the PVG while the optimal tip speed ratio combined with vector control is used for the WT subsystem. A rule-based energy management system (EMS) is designed to economically dispatch the energy between individual systems of the proposed microgrid to handle any energy mismatch inside the microgrid. The hierarchical control strategy and the EMS of the whole system were evaluated through several simulation cases using MATLAB-Simulink software. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of the proposed control and management structures for further practical implementation of the proposed microgrid.

Sports facilities have high energy requirements and therefore, presents a great opportunity for energy savings. In fact, people generate a significant sensible and latent heat because of high activity level and the amount of moisture released through exercising activities and showers. These buildings are more challenging to control because of the specific occupants requirements. In this effort, dynamic control of roof top units subject to external weather predictions is implemented on a case study of a gymnasium. An iterative algorithm for refinement of elastic constant of composite laminates is offered. It comprises solution of the inverse problems in accordance with the data received from the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors embedded into composite structure to ensure a match with a given precision of numerical and experimental results for strain values at the control points. The optimal sizing design of truss structures is studied using the recently proposed particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSOA), in which the social behavior of birds is mimicked. Individual birds in a flock exchange information about their position, velocity and fitness, and the behavior of the flock is then influenced to increase the probability of migration to regions of high fitness. A simple approach is presented to accommodate the stress and displacement constraints during initial stages of the swarm searches. In this approach, increased social pressure, at the cost of cognitive learning, is exerted on infeasible birds to increase their rate of migration to feasible regions. Numerical results are presented for a number of well-known test functions, with dimensionality of up to 21.
