The fairly new domain of cloud computing proposes a model of virtual resources management that fulfills the requirements of an efficient development and deployment environment for this type of services. Throughout this paper we present the design of a multimedia, service oriented, management system for hybrid clouds. We propose a modular and flexible architecture to handle service composition, automated service deployment with execution flow management and scalable storage capabilities. The booming multimedia technology is incurring a thriving multi-media data propagation. As multimedia data have become more essential, taking over a major potion of the content processed by many applications, it is important to leverage data mining methods to associate the low-level features extracted from multimedia data to high-level semantic concepts. In order to bridge the semantic gap, researchers have investigated the correlation among multiple modalities involved in multimedia data to effectively detect semantic concepts. It has been shown that multimodal fusion plays an important role in elevating the performance of both multimedia content-based retrieval and semantic concepts detection. In this paper, we propose a novel cluster-based ARC fusion method to thoroughly explore the correlation among multiple modalities and classification models. After combining features from multiple modalities, each classification model is built on one feature cluster, which is generated from our previous work FCC-MMF. The correlation between medoid of a feature cluster and a semantic concept is introduced to identify the capability of a classification model. It is further applied with the logistic regression method to refine ARC fusion method proposed in our previous work for semantic concept detection. Several experiments are conducted to compare the proposed method with other related works and the proposed method has outperform other works with higher Mean Average Precision (MAP).

Due to the wide availability of huge amount of multimedia data in various modalities such as image and text documents, having a great amount of similarity among them is inevitable. In this paper, we present an efficient model which correlates the similarity among documents belonging to various modalities to achieve cross-media retrieval. Cross-media retrieval is a content based information retrieval system where heterogeneous data is mined to retrieve results of various modalities, i.e., input object and returned results may be of different modalities. For example, text objects can be retrieved as a result to image input. First, features are extracted from multimedia objects by which the objects are labeled. Using the labels, similar documents are grouped to generate multimedia Documents. We construct a cross-media correlation graph with documents as vertices, where positive weight is assigned to every single edge according to the amount of similarity between vertices. The cross-media retrieval system identifies the input document and as a result returns required number of documents with highest weights.

Wireless multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) are commonly used for communicating sensitive data which help in many important decision makings, so that it is crucial to ensure the received data are not manipulated in transit and originated from the correct source. In the security perspective, however, the characteristics of WMSNs and the nature of multimedia make data authentication schemes more complex, especially for data integrity. In this regard, the aim of this paper is to investigate the feasibility of content-based authentication using image hashing technique as an alternative data authentication scheme in WMSNs. To assess the feasibility, the general requirements for image authentication in WMSNs are discussed in this paper. Additionally, the performance of five selected image hashing algorithms is measured with respect to robustness, sensitivity, and security. By comparing and analyzing the performance of the selected algorithms, this paper provides a perspective on the potential feasibility and limitations as an alternative to the traditional authentication scheme in WMSNs.
