3D face database is an important data platform for model training, algorithm design. Especially for these researches based on statistical learning method, the algorithm performance has a great dependency on training sample set. Subject to the constraint of data acquisition equipment the data structure of current 3D face samples are different. It is incontinent to use these samples without regulation. To solve this problem, this paper presents an regulating method for existing 3D databases based on surface deformation. The experiment results show that the proposed method has good performance on face regulation.

High speed, low power SRAMs have become a critical component of many VLSI chips. This is especially true for microprocessors, where the on-chip cache sizes are growing with each generation to bridge the increasing divergence in the speeds of the processor and the main memory. Simultaneously, power dissipation has become an important consideration. A 64x64 SRAM memory system is designed, implemented and tested for correct read, write operation and performed the reconfiguration on memory system in order to optimize power. This paper presents a performance analysis of reconfigurable memory system for low power application. A 64x64 lena image is taken as test engine to validate the designed reconfigurable SRAM architecture. Simulations using TSMC 0.35um technology show that the SRAM cell read and write access times are 1.53ns and 1.93ns. Mentor Graphics ELDO and EZ-wave are used for simulations.

IEEE 802.16 is a Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN) technology that supports both high speed data transmission and quality of service (QoS). Other than the data speed, QoS is always another concern to the end users and applications. However, providing QoS in IEEE 802.16 is a challenging mission because it involved many components that interact with each other. One of the important components in QoS provisioning process is the bandwidth granting process in which the amount of bandwidth to be granted to a SS is determined. Researchers tend to use simple algorithm for this purpose. However, it is found that some refinement in bandwidth granting process would greatly improve the network performance. This paper proposes a statistical approach to improve the bandwidth granting process. Through extensive simulations, the proposed statistical approach is shown to provide better network performance than conventional approach used by other researchers.

Traditional disaster warning systems provide general information of disaster events and broadcast to all people. This simple approach adopts one-way communication model in which information is always transferred in a single direction from server-side to client-side. However, for better support of disaster warning and rescue, the system is supposed to leverage informative content by producing user-context dependent information. Mobile computing devices are portable and equipped with heterogeneous sensors and are able to provide many information collected by these sensors. With the collected information, the disaster management system can instruct the users to get away from the disaster. To achieve this idea, the system requires lots of computing power to customize information to meet demands of large-numbers of users, therefore, cloud computing is the key technology that contributes to the idea implementation. In this work, we propose two important features: (1) context-aware transmission policy which controls how to transmit data efficiently according to data priority, battery level and network data rate;(2) an architecture that supports the model of mobile interactive applications in which clients and servers can interact with each other in an autonomic manner.

The Internet of Things (IoT) consists of networked objects deployed worldwide and connected over the Internet. As a consequence, the major aspects of the IoT are represented by the heterogeneity and the huge number of the participating devices. These aspects also constitute the major challenges in the definition of a storage infrastructure suitable for IoT applications. In this paper, we introduce a novel data model and storage infrastructure for the IoT to address these challenges. Different from other works in the literature, we exploit a document-oriented approach and show how it is suitable to support both heterogeneous and multimedia data. Our solution is built on top of the CouchDB database server, offers a RESTful API, and provides a rich set of features targeted to IoT applications. Moreover, we devise optimized schemes for uploading documents which are specifically tailored to resource-constrained IoT devices. We evaluate our proposed schemes both analytically and with experiments in a real system.

With the proliferation of smart devices, disaster responders and community residents are capturing footage, pictures and video of the disaster area with mobile phones and wireless tablets. This multimedia disaster situation information is critical for assisting emergency management (EM) personnel to effectively respond in a timely manner. Currently, however the data is not integrated in incident command systems where situation reports, incidence action plans, etc. are being held. Therefore, we have designed and developed a multimedia-Aided Disaster information Integration system (MADIS), which utilizes advanced data mining techniques to analyze situation reports and pictures as well as text captured in the field and automatically link the reports directly to relevant multimedia content. Specifically, a dynamic hierarchical image classification approach is proposed to categorize disaster images into different subjects by fusing image and text information. Situation reports are analyzed using advanced document processing techniques and then associated with processed multimedia data. In order to seamlessly incorporate user interactive activities for improving information integration, a user feedback processing scheme is proposed to refine the association between situation reports and images as well as the affinity among images. The system is developed on Apple's mobile operating system (iOS) and runs on iPad tablets, and its usefulness is evaluated by domain experts from the local EM department.
