Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) are practical, simple, and cost effective solution for indoor and outdoor environments. Wireless Mesh networks use the IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol. Since the IEEE 802.11 MAC protocol is originally designed for single hop wireless networks, multimedia transport in WMNs has become a big challenge. In multi-hop wireless networks, throughput decreases significantly with the increase in number of hops, mainly due to the spatial contention and the backoff algorithm adapted in 802.11 MAC layer protocol. In this paper, we introduce an Adaptive Contention Window Algorithm (ACWA) that allows each node to adapt a contention window size, used in its backoff algorithm, based on its location in the WMN. ACWA improves the throughput of each node in the network. In addition, it improves the overall network throughput by 16%, and decreases the end-to-end average delay by about 27%. The results are evaluated and compared with the performance of the default 802.11 MAC protocol.

Recent advances in SoC technology offer the possibility to realize the function of wireless sensor network node in a single chip. In this paper a reconfigurable wireless sensor network node for quick transmission of voice data is being described. Compared with existing works, we can implement different types of components depends on the application in which the sensor is meant to use. Using Verilog, we provide a detailed description of the implementation of MAC layer controller protocol based on IEEE 802.15.4 MAC layer protocol. An improved CSMA/CA mechanism is introduced for the transmission of voice data, enhancing its timelines and reliability. Finally, we make up testing platform for MAC layer controller. From the hardware and software simulation results, the design of MAC layer controller based on FPGA is successfully verified.

Audio watermarking has attracted more attentions recently. In this paper, a novel audio watermarking based on statistical moment in wavelet domain. Firstly, we introduce the novel transformation called Point-to-Point Graph (PPG) into the sub-band signal after the wavelet decomposition. In order to increase the robustness, the three dimensional transformation is implemented and then the wavelet coefficients are transformed into a sphere. Hence, we analyze the statistical distribution of the radius. A novel watermarking techniques based on statistical moment of radius is suggested. Experimental results against Stirmark attack confirm the performance of our method. Moreover, the robustness of the method against MP3 is also investigated through extensive simulations.

There has been an enormous increase of the usability of the Social Network websites. Similarly the online purchase has amplified many folds. This paper deals with the proposal of integrating the effectiveness of Social websites along with the e-commerce portals. By this way, the social network site and e-commerce site provide a collective platform for promotion of the items and the e-commerce portal can take advantage of the existing usability features of the social networking websites. Also content related advertisements can be placed in the sites and can invoke interests among the website users. Rate control algorithm is one of important factors influencing the coding performance. In this paper, a low complexity rate control (LCRC) method is proposed. Instead of using RQ model and MAD model, LCRC determine the QP for P frames according to the allocated bits for current frame and the encoded bits of previous frame. Moreover, LCRC exploits a simple model to improve the initial QP determination. Also, considering the trade-off between similar reconstructed image quality and the fast constringency, some rate control parameters are changed in LCRC, including limitation of GOP's QP variation range. Five sequences are coded at different bit rate to verify the proposed method. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed method outperforms the method using in reference software, which can achieve better performance in terms of increasing coding quality, depressing quality fluctuations and reducing buffer overflow/underflow.

In this paper, we proposed an analysis method on service capacity of CDMA system supporting data services. Cell spectrum efficiency and access available space the two concepts are used to constructed a new network performance evaluation system. An application layer service model and its corresponding cross-layer mapping method are also proposed. Based on the interference-limited CDMA system, we analysis the influence of different service characteristics for network performance both in single-service and multi-services condition.

With increasing diversity and heterogeneity of content access devices and network technologies as well as user preferences, content delivery has evolved into a matter of ubiquitous service where production, delivery and access of content form major challenges for content provider, network operator and user respectively. Content adaptation has been widely acknowledged as one of the most important aspects for ubiquitous content delivery. Incorporating content adaptation into content delivery network has been intensively investigated in recent years, but still remains as a big challenge due to not only the technology heterogeneity and complexity, but also the deployment implication facing the different players in the content delivery chain, e. g. content provider, network operator, user, third-party service provider. This implication is caused by the lack of infrastructural support for content adaptation in traditional content delivery network. This paper presents the design of such an infrastructure, called Adaptation Management Framework (AMF). More importantly, this design targets its application in a distributed manner to allow content adaptation take place across the content delivery chain. A working cycle of content adaptation under the infrastructure is described, and performances evaluation and analysis are presented in terms of scalability.

multimedia availability is exceeding our capacity of management in home environment and outside it. For that reason, solutions as Media Cloud have brought the concept of Cloud computing to home environments. Media Cloud provides a comprehensive and efficient solution for managing content among federated home environments. However, when consuming those contents outside a home environment some problems should be addressed as dealing with limited devices and protecting user generated and commercial contents from eavesdroppers. This article describes a solution that enables limited devices to access contents located in private clouds, as Media Cloud, with the cooperation of network providers. © 2011 IEEE.

In this work, by combining coding tools developed in recent literatures on transform domain WZ video coding with some newly developed modules on both encoding and decoding sides, an efficient and practical WZ video coding architecture, dubbed as DIStributed video coding with PArallelized design for Cloud computing (DISPAC), is proposed to better the corresponding rate-distortion (RD) performance. Another unique feature of DISPAC, lies in the parallelizability of the modules used by its WZ decoder which increased the decoding speed largely. Experimental results conducted on an emulated Could computing environment reveal that DISPAC codec can gain up to 3.6 dB in the RD measures and 60.97 times faster in the decoding speed as compared with the-state-of-art WZ video codec, respectively.
