In this paper, we present a Bandwidth Degradation QoS scheme for Adaptive multimedia services in next generation Wireless/Mobile networks, and introduce it in mobile networks to improve the performance of channel allocation. The proposed schemes are the generic Call Admission Control (CAC) algorithm and the admission policy to support multiple rates, multiple class traffic of next generation mobile network. Based on diverse QoS parameters be included in connection request, a Two-Stage Bandwidth Degradation QoS CAC algorithm is presented to satisfy the diverse QoS requirement and utilize the system resource efficiently. The simulation results show that the performance of our scheme is preferable to that of existing schemes.

Social networking websites are being regularly used by individuals, groups, friends, colleagues etc. where they share information, communicate with each other by means of using websites like facebook, orkut. twitter, my space & many more. Increasing internet connectivity and rapid adoption of mobile devices, social networking have migrated to mobile platform;which is accessible anywhere, anytime users' want. In this paper, we describe design of a new concept mobile application based on contact based social networking. In addition to this, it also describes how a system-aided application can enhance user experiences;helping users to understand other users' activity, help them navigate easily and encourage the use of this application. This application is focused on activity sharing, real time location sharing and media sharing between phonebook contacts.

In this paper, we present a window switching algorithm employed in A VS (Audio Video coding Standard of China) generic audio coding. The algorithm - Energy and Unpredictability Measure based Window Switching Decision (ENUPM-WSD) - achieves high performance to complexity ratio by taking the advantages of both the low complexity 0 energy based decision in time domain and the high accuracy of unpredictability based decision in frequency domain. It significantly improves encoded audio quality, especially those with large transient portions, while preserves low average computational complexity in A VS generic audio encoder. Due to the merits, it is accepted as a recommendation module of the A VS audio standard.

In this paper we design and study the performance of a Multiple Access Control (MAC) scheme for the multiplexing and the integrated delivery of voice, mobile messaging, IP and H. 264 videoconference traffic over a high-speed next-generation cellular TDMA channel with errors and capture. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first papers in the literature investigating the integration of H. 264 video traffic with other types of traffic over wireless networks. Our results show that the proposed scheme achieves high throughput results while preserving the strict Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of each traffic type, and outperforms an efficient scheme previously proposed in the literature.

A distributed computing application often uses multiple networked computers to work together to accomplish a complex task. So, it can be used to do calculation-intensive multimedia content analysis too, such as video optical character recognition, shot detection and so on. Based on this fact, we proposed a novel framework of distributed multimediacomputing in this paper. In this framework, the concept of workflow which can describe business processes logically is introduced. Some experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed framework.
In order to grapple with the continuously increasing demand on the multimedia traffic over high speed wireless LAN, we need a QoS-oriented MAC for wireless multimedia system. In this thesis, we will propose a efficien...

There are many challenging problems in multimedia research for which state-of-the-art solutions fall short of performing perfectly. The realization that many of these tasks are arduous for computers yet are relatively easy for humans has inspired many researchers to approach those problems from a human computation viewpoint, using methods that include crowdsourcing and games. This paper offers a discussion and advices how to use games to supplement traditional content analysis techniques and assist in the solution of hard multimedia problems.

In this contex t, access con trol becomes an important issue tha t must be addressed Access control models are des igned to pro tect shared information a nd resources, of any type and at different levels of granularity. In this work we present SOrBAC: an extension of OrBAC model, in order to provide a mechanism f or securing a dynamic collaborative Session. SOrBAC introduces a new level named Session level to the original OrBAC model. This session level introduces new entities to allow a dynamic access control during a collaborati ve session.

Continuous media, such as audio and video, are quickly becoming an integral part of distributed computing environments. A shortcoming of such environments is their lack of support for continuous flows of information. What is missing is the notion of an on-going communication activity with an associated quality of service. This paper describes a model for integrating multimedia flows into a distributed computing system. The model permits explicit bindings to be established between type-checked stream interfaces. The stream binding is represented in the computational model as a first-class object which encapsulates configuration rules and QoS attributes. An operational interface supplied by the binding object allows other objects within the system to manage the binding, to renegotiate QoS parameters, to control the flows across the binding, and to register interest in stream events such as flow reports and communication errors. The in-band stream interface is an abstract C++ wrapper around transport mechanisms that include intra-host IPC and network transport protocols such as TCP and XTP. A prototype implementation of this model is described using the Common Object Request Broker Architecture. The implementation environment comprises a local area ATM network with directly attached multimedia peripherals and general purpose workstations.

The usage of mobile phones has rapidly increased in the recent years. As the result of this, many companies have appeared at the markets that propose various services for mobile communication. Therefore, the customer's choice of the telephone provider depends both on the cost policy and the proposed services of the companies. In our work, innovative services for providers are introduced. They implement both centralized and decentralized control of mobile phones by having access to the kernel of the operating system running on the mobile phone. The delivery of multimedia contents to the mobile device can be done using one of the following options: direct communication between two mobile phones or indirect communication between two mobile phones via a server providing the multimedia content. This leads to an IP-based distributed multimedia mobile system in local and global areas. Our research in this field shows that mobile devices are comparable to any computer in the network that gives opportunity to download multimedia information. Our demonstration with client and server software will show the functional features of the developed system.
