In the recent decades, the ubiquity of computational complexity in the process of a large scale of resource distribution management became one of the key interest of scientific research community, so to solve this large computationally hard problem, it requires selecting the best and the optimum computing framework. In this paper we will present a resource distribution strategy based on the quantum method, where we explained how we can use the quantum algorithm as a computational platform for resource distribution, then a mathematical model has been built, in order to define the stochastic parameters of the quantum strategy related to the given resource distribution model, finally.

One of the crucial elements in an Internet of Things (IoT) environment is a database. IoT performance will be at stake if the wrong database is adopted. In this research, three Structured Query Language (SQL) databases were tested against multiple network speeds in an IoT device. Single board computers (SBC) were used as a media of testing instead of an ordinary computer. A controlled wireless sensor network (WSN) was developed with several uniform constants and variable network speeds. A new data transmission rate equation also was proposed and tested. From the result, it was found that not all SQL databases can cater IoT devices. Some of them showed that performance decreased along with network speed. The correlation, between 0.90 and 0.96, proved the strong influence between the research subjects. In addition, file-type database is the best option available for SQL-wise IoT storage. © 2019 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

With explosive growth of digital data and users wanting to outsource the data, there is great need for securely storing the data and utilization of storage space. Data deduplication eliminates redundant data from the storage and, thereby reducing the backup window, improves the efficiency of storage space and utilization of network bandwidth. multimedia data such as images and videos are a good choice for deduplication, as it is one of the most frequent shared types of data found on data storage. A conventional secure deduplication employs exact data deduplication which is too rigid for multimedia data. Perceptually similar data maintain human visual perception and consume a lot of storage space. The proposed approach provides a framework for secure fuzzy deduplication for multimedia data and further strengthens the security by integrating proof of retrieval and proof of ownership protocols.

To support the rapid development of multimedia services under the Internet of Things (IoT), fog radio access network (F-RAN) has become an emerging architecture in the 5G era. In this paper, content caching in a cloud and fog heterogeneous cooperative manner for F-RAN is investigated. More specifically, we jointly consider cache placement and file transmission in F-RAN, where fog access points (F-APs) serving as collaborative caching agents to provide caching for popular files, thus reducing the traffic from cloud and improving content delivery efficiency. A file download latency minimization problem subject to the storage capacities of F-APs is formulated. A distributed learning algorithm based on a swarm collaboration framework, i.e., stigmergy which enables an F-AP to expand its influence to other F-APs is proposed to improve caching resource utilization. In addition, a double-masking protocol is proposed to guarantee the security of F-APs' locations during stigmergy learning. Extensive simulations are conducted to show the effectiveness and reliability of our proposed scheme.

Future factory automation systems are expected to process vast amounts of data and orchestrate complex cyber-physical components. Edge computing (EC) is a promising approach to address the requirements set by upcoming industrial systems. While EC caters to the computation requirements, it requires a solution to perform flexible network management of these computation resources. Software-Defined networking (SDN) is a promising candidate to tackle such challenges. While most of the related work on EC and SDN focuses on multimedia or automotive applications, this paper presents the relevance of both paradigms for industrial applications. By introducing two most prominent industrial use cases, namely proactive system surveillance and intelligent technical assistance, this paper discusses the challenges involved and proposes a solution space for realizing these applications using the combination of EC and SDN. Furthermore, it presents future research directions regarding the combination of both paradigms in the context of factory automation.

With the increase in the penetration of the Internet and the widespread acceptability of social networking sites, more people are coming forward to express their views and opinion about various topics. This has given a huge boost to the textual and multimedia content generated by these websites, giving opportunities to researchers and analysts to nd and generate patterns from this data. The problem of identification of sarcasm in textual data is quite challenging due to lack of annotation, intonation and facial expression. Big companies are spending millions in finding out, whether people were praising or mocking about their product, they can get the idea about the market trends and needs. Law enforcement agencies may also get benefit from this as they would be able to distinguish legitimate threats from exaggerations on the online social networks. A data-driven approach based on the neural networks and the concepts of deep learning has been evaluated using a blend of deep convolutional networks (CNN) and long short term memory (LSTM). The technique has been applied to the Self-Annotated Reddit Corpus (SARC) (http://***/SARC/), a large corpus for sarcasm research. The technique for domain specific and general data is also probed, as given in the dataset so as to check the accuracy of the proposed method. It has been observed that blending of the models further improves the accuracy of simple CNN model, and yields a more computationally efficient model of accuracy compared to standalone models. Our method has achieved an overall average precision of 73%. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The millimeter wave (mmWave) technology is a potential candidate for high speed telecommunication service in 5G wireless communication, as it offers a ten times larger spectrum than existing cellular systems. The generalized spatial modulation (GenSM) aided millimeter wave multiple input multiple-output (mm-wave MIMO) concept has attracted substantial research interest, as it could lead to significant performance enhancement of mm-wave MIMO while maintaining the antennas with a reduced number of active chains. However, current solvers either get stuck in a local minimum or suffer from computational complexity of GenSM-aided mm-wave MIMO schemes because the non-convex nature of the hybrid precoding design incurs significant performance degradation. To address this problem, we employ the Riemannian Optimization (RO) algorithm for the design of a hybrid precoder for GenSM-aided mm-wave MIMOs in order to enhance the spectral efficiency (SE). That is, we first re-design the hybrid precoding structures, i.e., by integrating the RF chain power constraints into the objective function;this allows the original optimized problem with constraints to be transformed into an unconstrained optimization problem on a nonlinear search space. Next, by considering the characteristics of a digital precoder, we are able to construct a proper manifold, in which we could effectively apply the RO iterative gradient descent method for computing a better solution. Our simulation results show that the proposed RO-based hybrid precoder is able to (a) outperform traditional GenSM-aided mm-wave MIMOs schemes, and (b) achieve comparable SE performance, when compared with modern mm-wave MIMO schemes.

There are many challenging problems in multimedia research for which state-of-the-art solutions fall short of performing perfectly. The realization that many of these tasks are arduous for computers yet are relatively easy for humans has inspired many researchers to approach those problems from a human computation viewpoint, using methods that include crowdsourcing and games. This paper offers a discussion and advices how to use games to supplement traditional content analysis techniques and assist in the solution of hard multimedia problems.

Smart glasses allow for gaze gesture passwords as a hands-free form of mobile authentication. However, pupil movements for password input are easily observed by attackers, who thereby can derive the password. In this paper we investigate closed-eye gaze gesture passwords with EOG sensors in smart glasses. We propose an approach to detect and recognize closed-eye gaze gestures, together with a 7 and 9 character gaze gesture alphabet. Our evaluation indicates good gaze gesture detection rates. However, recognition is challenging specifically for vertical eye movements with 71.2%-86.5% accuracy and better results for opened than closed eyes. We further find that closed-eye gaze gesture passwords are difficult to attack from observations with 0% success rate in our evaluation, while attacks on open eye passwords succeed with 61%. This indicates that closed-eye gaze gesture passwords protect the authentication secret significantly better than their open eye counterparts.

Automatic tennis stroke recognition can help tennis players improve their training experience. Previous work has used sensors positions on both wrist and tennis racket, of which different physiological aspects bring different sensing capabilities. However, no comparison of the performance of both positions has been done yet. In this paper we comparatively assess wrist and racket sensor positions for tennis stroke detection and classification. We investigate detection and classification rates with 8 well-known stroke types and visualize their differences in 3D acceleration and angular velocity. Our stroke detection utilizes a peak detection with thresholding and windowing on the derivative of sensed acceleration, while for our stroke recognition we evaluate different feature sets and classification models. Despite the different physiological aspects of wrist and racket as sensor position, for a controlled environment results indicate similar performance in both stroke detection (98.5%-99.5%) and user-dependent and independent classification (89%-99%).
