The emergence of the Internet and various computer devices has revolutionized the learning process in various schools and colleges, both in terms of media and interaction methods. E-learning and distance learning is one of the revolutions of how education can be passed well through cyberspace media that are connected, organized, and integrated with each other. In this research will be developed distance learning media using virtual reality technology, where teachers and students can make communication and made an immersive learning process although they stayed in different places. However, they can have the same face-to-face conversation, sitting in one table, and made virtual meeting with their avatars like meet in the real world in space. The next generation of multimedia applications will require the telecommunication networks to support a higher bitrate than today, in order to deliver virtual reality and ultra-high quality video content to the users. Most of the video content will be accessed from mobile devices, prompting the provision of very high data rates by next generation (5G) cellular networks. A possible enabler in this regard is communication at mmWave frequencies, given the vast amount of available spectrum that can be allocated to mobile users;however, the harsh propagation environment at such high frequencies makes it hard to provide a reliable service. This paper presents a reliable video streaming architecture for mmWave networks, based on multi connectivity and network coding, and evaluates its performance using a novel combination of the ns-3 mmWave module, real video traces and the network coding library Kodo. The results show that it is indeed possible to reliably stream video over cellular mmWave links, while the combination of multi connectivity and network coding can support high video quality with low latency.

Network overload due to rampant increase in multimedia data consumption in LTE is the major cause of concern for telecom operators. To overcome the above said issue, operators are employing content caching in the LTE core network nodes like GW or in the access network nodes like eNodeB or a separate caching servers in the access or core networks and implementing efficient content distribution methods such as evolved multimedia broadcast and multicast service (eMBMS). To efficiently use the above methods, operators need to identify the right content and right location among the network of cached servers for caching. In this paper, we propose a novel idea for choosing the right content to cache based on the popularity rank calculated using the MooD (MBMS operation on Demand) framework. Furthermore, we proposed two new distribution architecture for the cached content in the LTE network based on the current demand estimation for the content. Our results reveal that, there are significant savings achieved in terms of reduced processing cost in the LTE network nodes and less latency from the proposed method against the existing concepts of non-caching standard architecture. We achieved around 27% improvement in latency and bandwidth from the proposed methods when the request for the content follows Zipfian type of distribution.

Caching popular contents in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication networks is expected to play an important role in road traf fi c management, the realization of intelligent transportation systems (ITSs), and the delivery of multimedia content across vehicles. However, for effective caching, the network must dynamically choose the optimal set of cars that will cache popular content and disseminate it in the entire network. However, most of the existing prior art on V2V caching is restricted to cache placement that is solely based on location and user demands and does not account for the large-scale spatio-temporal variations in V2V communication networks. In contrast, in this paper, a novel spatio-temporal caching strategy is proposed based on the notion of temporal graph motifs that can capture spatio-temporal communication patterns in V2V networks. It is shown that, by identifying such V2V motifs, the network can fi nd sub-optimal content placement strategies for effective content dissemination across a vehicular network. Simulation results using real traces from the city of Cologne show that the proposed approach can increase the average data rate by 45% for different network scenarios.

The recent growth in smart phone adoption coupled with social networking has lead to an increase in user generated content (UGC). The majority of UGC, captured in the form of images, videos, and audio clips, have significantly grown in size as a result of advancements in multimedia technology with higher definition phone cameras. Online clouds are generally the go-to solution in order to accommodate this increase in storage requirements. However, online clouds raise privacy concerns, are not fully automated, and do not adapt to different networking environments. We propose an edge-based automated storage management system, EdgeStore, that utilizes user-owned devices at the edge, to automatically offload and retrieve files. EdgeStore determines file popularity based on the user's access patterns and offloads unpopular files. It accounts for different networking infrastructures, ranging from rural areas to metropolitan areas, in order to serve users in different environments. We implement and evaluate EdgeStore showing that users can offload up to 90% of storage to underutilized edge devices, and still have a high percentage of low latency access to offloaded files within 10 seconds.

With the increasing demand for the wireless multimedia services over 5G multimedia edge-computing wireless networks, the statistical quality-of-service (QoS) provisioning has been proven to be able to effectively guarantee the multimedia data transmissions over time-varying wireless channels. On the other hand, the collaborative device-to-device (D2D) based offloading scheme, where the mobile users share the popular multimedia files within a D2D communication group instead of downloading from the remote backhaul networks, has been proposed as one of the 5G promising candidate techniques to meet the statistical delay-bounded QoS requirements as well as address the data explosion problem introduced by 5G multimedia edge-computing wireless networks. However, due to the dynamically changing environment and various demands for each mobile user, it is challenging to design an efficient offloading algorithm for choosing the optimal D2D offloading strategy. To overcome the aforementioned problems, in this paper we propose the machine-learning based framework for the collaborative D2D offloading scheme through repeatedly interacting with the networking environment while satisfying the statistical delay-bounded QoS constraints. In particular, we derive and analyze the collaborative D2D communication model and the interference based constraints. Under the statistical delay-bounded QoS requirements, we formulate and solve the effective-capacity optimization problem for the collaborative D2D offloading scheme by using Q-learning technique over 5G multimedia edgecomputing wireless networks. Also conducted is a set of simulations which evaluate the system performance and show that our proposed collaborative D2D offloading scheme outperforms the other existing schemes under the statistical delay-bounded QoS constraints over 5G multimedia edge-computing wireless networks.

Word representations are mathematical items capturing a word’s meaning and its grammatical properties in a machine-readable way. They map each word into equivalence classes including words sharing similar properties. Word representations can be obtained automatically by using unsupervised learning algorithms that rely on the distributional hypothesis, stating that the meaning of a word is strictly connected to its context in terms of surrounding words. This assessed notion of context has been recently reconsidered in order to include both distributional and morphological features of a word in terms of characters co-occurrence. This approach has evidenced very promising results, especially in NLP tasks, e.g, POS Tagging, where the representation of the so-called Out of Vocabulary (OOV) words represents a partially solved issue. This work is intended to face the problem of representing OOV words for a POS Tagging task, contextualized to the Italian language. Potential benefits and drawbacks of adopting a Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (bi-LSTM) fed with a joint character and word embeddings representation to perform POS Tagging also considering OOV words have been investigated. Furthermore, experiments have been performed and discussed by estimating qualitative and quantitative indicators, and, thus, suggesting some possible future direction of the investigation. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2019.

In out data-driven society more and more personal and sensitive data is processed and stored making it virtually impossible for end-users to comprehend what happens to their data. Although in health care strict regulations for the processing of personal data already existed, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides a EU-wide regulation. Despite these regulations, it still exists a lack of transparency due to high complexity and missing details of privacy policies. The lack of transparency increases when various services are integrated sharing their data and forming virtual data marketplaces with various stakeholders. We argue for the strategic usage of privacy languages, i.e. the Layered Privacy Language (LPL), to formalize and present privacy policies transparently to users, enable consent management, and personalization of privacy requirements. Therefore, LPL policies are intended to fill the gap between the statement of privacy and its realization. Although LPL has been designed with the requirements of privacy policies considering GDPR, real-life privacy policies are required to be expressible with its vocabulary. Therefore, LPL will be validated against a meaningful real-life privacy policy example, that can reflect the future of integrated health care services to demonstrate capabilities, compliance and limitations of privacy languages.

To fulfill the diversity of 5G traffic and achieve the high transmission rate, 5G core network adopts Software Defined networking (SDN), Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Network Slicing technologies. However, NFV increases the processing latency. Docker provides the lightweight container and consumes less computing power and memory. Docker is use to build the virtualization platform. To further enhance the packet processing rate, the Intel Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) is adopted. This paper develops a Socket-based media gateway (MGW) and a DPDK-based MGW and evaluates the performance of these two MGWs on the physical and virtualized platforms.
