This paper proposed a mobility-aware multimedia data transfer mechanism using Multipath TCP in Vehicular Network. Since high transmission rate and low latency are the two key factors for multimedia data transmission that could provide stable video streaming services, therefore, we first adopted Multipath Transport Control Protocol which can transfer data concurrently for improving transmission rate and designed Quality-aware Data Distribution to dynamically allocate the data to different subflows. Moreover, in Vehicular Network, the mobile terminal, which means the vehicle, can communicate with remote server through roadside unit (RSU). However, the communication link between terminals and remote server will disrupt while the vehicle exceeding the communication range of roadside unit;and there also exists the situation that the vehicle is in the communication range of several RSU. Accordingly, we exploited a mobility-aware distance measurement for checking whether the vehicle has moved out of the communication range of any RSU or it is in multi-RSU's communication range. Afterwards, we designed a handover mechanism which transfer data to connected path (4G) for stable transmission using MPTCP when the vehicle exceeded the communication range of RSU;while one mobile can communicate with more than one RSU, we exploited a mechanism which can trigger new path for multipath data transmission and non-corporation Nash Equilibria was employed for solving the problem of fairness in the same kind of network technology multipath transmission. Simulation results show how mobility-aware multimedia data transfer mechanism improve the performance of transmission comparison with state-of-art solution.

During the last years, many solutions have been proposed for 3D Virtual Heritage representations. Recently, also new technologies for online gaming evolved, based on javascript libraries (WebGL), used to create and publish virtual interactive environments. They are based on recent Web browser's functionalities, surpassing some limitations of VRML technologies. On the side of geospatial information, technology has evolved from desktop GIS to 2D WebGIS and globe applications. The use of globe applications is, today, very diffused due to its immediate and at the same time impressive representation of the earth surface and territories. These technologies have been, also, applied to Virtual Heritage 3D reconstructions, to improve the fruition of Cultural Heritage (CH), with the achievement of interesting results. The topic of this paper is the experimentation on the fusion between globe based and gaming technologies (in our case WebGL) that allow achieving a more user-centric and powerful solution useful for publishing 3D geospatial information of CH on Web. This choice allows obtaining GIS oriented 3D models, typical of globe applications, and, at the same time, a more immersive exploration of CH and its surrounding environment. In particular, it also gives complementary text and multimedia information on the history, architectural features of each cultural good, based on querying of semantic information. The test field of the research is the construction of the 3D GIS virtual globe model of the Manfredonic Castle of Mussomeli (Sicily-Italy), developed for PON-NEPTIS EU Project, to compare open-source technologies and commercial proprietary applications. © Authors 2018. The extremely large number of devices available to the modern day user, with the increase in device intercommunication, is fuelling the latest Internet of Things (IoT) development. IoT needs to enable exchange of various types of data, from sensor data to multimedia, between numerous diverse devices differing in power, connectivity, mobility and energy, while also maintaining high levels of Quality of Service (QoS). This paper performs statistical analysis of the innovative networking Scheme for sMart IoT gatewayS (NETSMITS) in terms of several QoS network-related metrics with most significant impact on devices' performance. NETSMITS introduces an innovative algorithm which uses QoS and service relevance metrics in order to efficiently cluster intercommunicating IoT objects. Statistical analysis is performed on the QoS data collected in a highly relevant multi-device scenario in order to understand NETSMITS' behaviour. Interesting results were obtained, describing the relationship between the QoS metrics and different types of IoT devices.

Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) is a hardware architecture for heterogeneous computing proposed by the HSA Foundation. Its Unified Memory Architecture (hUMA) enables data sharing between heterogeneous devices and its userlevel Queuing Model (hQ) enables low overhead kernel launching. With such features, applications could enjoy more efficient and effective heterogeneous computing. However, most of today's heterogeneous-computing applications have not leveraged the hUMA and hQ features. Moreover, the majority of applications on the market are implemented in traditional sequential models. This paper looks at building a fully automatic framework to migrate sequential applications to HSA. The framework includes polyhedral-guided memory aliasing analysis, a staged dispatching predictor, and memory coalescing optimization. It also takes advantages of hUMA and hQ to achieve low overhead job dispatching on HSA-compliant systems. On an AMD Carrizo machine (HSA-compliant), a sequential application runs through our framework could be 8.66x faster on Carrizo than before. In several cases where workloads are considered insufficient to benefit from conventional or non-HSA heterogeneous computing, our framework could still deliver significant speedups. In addition, the performance obtained through our framework can sometimes exceed the performance gain from manual tuning for both HSA and non-HSA platforms, running on the same Carrizo machine. With this framework, many existing applications coded in traditional sequential models could get performance boost from HSA-based heterogeneous computing.

In recent years, cloud computing is a trend in the networking industry. Storing data in the cloud can alleviate the storage overhead and reduce the expense of both hardware and software for the individuals. However, until now, the users still cannot trust the cloud server completely, and hence the data is usually encrypted before them being sent to the cloud to ensure the data security. However, most of the keyword search approaches in cloud only support the exact keyword search and it is unpractical in reality. Further, keyword searching for encrypted data is also not easy. With the growth of the dataset in the cloud, for the users, to search the specific data by keyword search method becomes an important issue now. Compared to previous work, this paper proposes an efficient multi-keyword search with polynomial functions for encrypted data. Furthermore, it is also capable of searching the fuzzy word.

The Internet of Things (IoT) attract a great deal of research and industry attention recently and are envisaged to support diverse emerging domains including intelligent transportation, smart cities, and health informatics. Operating system support for IoT plays a pivotal role in developing interoperable and scalable applications that are efficient and reliable. IoT is implemented by both high-end and low-end devices that require an operating system to run. Recently, we have witnessed a diversity of OSs emerging into IoT environment to facilitate IoT deployments and developments. In this paper, we present an overview of the common and existing closed source OSs for IoT. This paper is written in a tutorial style where each OS is described in details based on a set of designing and development aspects that we established. These aspects include architecture and kernel, memory management, scheduling, power consumption, networking protocols support, security, programming model, and multimedia support. The objective of this survey is to provide a well-structured guide to developers and researchers to determine the most appropriate OS for each specific IoT applications/devices based on their functional and non-functional requirements.

Software Defined networking (SDN) is on strike around the world. Many scientists, researcher, IT and telecommunication professionals are focusing on it. SDN is the upcoming superb, centralized, cost-effective, programmable and agile future networking system. As the current computer networks are complicated and difficult to superintend we need SDN to make the network and telecommunication services fruitful, flexible, yieldable, strengthen and secured. Distributed Denial of Service Attacks (DDoS) attack is the main thread for upcoming SDN. In this paper we are going to investigate on DDoS attack propagation model in SDN, DDoS attack-aware controller placement and the possible DDoS attack on SDN functional architecture. After that we will present our controller placement model to reduce DDoS attack. This research work can boost understanding on how to reduce or avoid SDN itself from behooving a prey of DDoS attacks. © 2017 IEEE.

The edge computing techniques have been developed to support the exponentially increasing service demands in the fifth generation (5G) networks by bringing the data contents and their corresponding computations/communications near to mobile users. As a promising and efficient solution to implement edge computing techniques, mobile data offloading complements the traditional cellular transmission through either WiFi networks or device-to-device (D2D) communication/relay to mitigate the overloaded wireless traffics for cellular networks. However, the mobile data offloading in edge computing wireless networks imposes many new quality of service (QoS) guarantee problems which still remain opening research areas. To overcome these challenges, in this paper we propose the statistical delay bounded QoS provisioning schemes using the effective capacity theory for two types of mobile data offloading: WiFi offloading and D2D offloading, where we formulate the WiFi offloading and D2D offloading as the single-hop and two-hop wireless link statistical QoS provisioning problems, respectively. We also derive the optimal probability of using each type of offloading which maximizes the average effective capacity for all mobile users under the following two scenarios: (1) all mobile users have the same probability of requesting the popular multimedia data contents and have the same probability to become a relay in D2D offloading;and (2) each mobile user has the distinct probability of requesting the popular multimedia data contents and the distinct probability to become a relay in D2D offloading. Finally, we evaluate and validate our proposed statistical delay-bounded QoS provisioning schemes over multimedia data offloading architecture through numerical analyses.

As an advanced transportation mode of peoples traveling, air transport meets many passengers spiritual pursuits and decreases their time management costs. In long-range flights, passengers who have similar interests can set up social circles to make the journey more enjoyable. However, it is a challenge to predict passengers that may have good opinions towards each other and assign neighboring seats for them intelligently. Normally, the analysis that is targeting at passengers personal information and social networking data may be one-sided to some extent. From the perspective of airliners, the work station gathers and analyzes the contents and operating habits of passengers on multimedia devices in cabins, sets up a model for passengers individuality and hobbies, and discusses the possibility of assigning seats intelligently through such information. Preliminary research results show that the hypothesis has a solid foundation.

Despite the great amount of research done in the Online Social Networks (OSNs) field, only few works have investigated the use of multimedia data in such realm. Instead, it is the authors’ opinion that a novel data model that takes into account the intrinsic characteristics of multimedia may be of great help in managing multimedia OSNs for providing more effective algorithms. In this paper, we describe a novel OSN data model that supports easy management of multimedia content in a unique framework, providing a more effective and efficient mechanism for data and information management in a variety of applications, especially for Influence Analysis aims. © 2017 Association for computing Machinery.
