Modern learning system offered in a recent era of technology is the one that employ computer and network technology, Video-on-Demand (VoD). The implementation on VoD on learning system presents an opportunity to access the multimedia content any time without concern about place and time. One thing that should be put on apprehension is the bandwidth consume by the architectures. On this paper, we study about the multiple servers setting to distribute server load and decrease bandwidth use by using the Peer-to-Peer Architecture, the Periodic Broadcasting (PB) we choose is PeerPB. The distributed content will rely on clients or peers' capability to share its resources.

Routing in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) is an extremely challenging issue due to the features of MANETs. In this paper, we present a novel bio-inspired hybrid routing protocol (B-iHRP) supporting multimedia delivery based on zone routing framework, ant colony optimization (ACO) and physarum autonomic optimization (PAO). B-HIRP divides network topology into a series of zones subjectively. Within a zone, the route table of central node is proactively maintained by perceptive ants which can sense link status metrics through cross-layer perception to assess the discovered routes. Among zones, perceptive ants are sent to reactively find routes to destinations as well as assess the discovered routes with the metrics by source nodes. Afterwards, B-iHRP uses PAO to select the optimal one from the found routes and optimize autonomically the local routes during the course of multi-zone communication sessions. Simulation results show how B-HIRP can achieve the effective performance compared to existing state-of-the-art algorithms.

The current paper presents extensions to a distributed user mobility-based proactive caching scheme that supports individual users' requests, and a brief discussion of the benefits from exploiting user-centric features. The approach applies to Heterogeneous Wireless Networks (HWNs) for off-loading traffic volumes to small cells and for reducing delay for specific categories of mobile users and mobile application scenarios through Efficient Proactive Caching (EPC) decisions at small cells. The approach is designed to support mobile users' requests for content not treated by popularity-based caching. Here, we discuss how proactive caching decisions can jointly utilize individual user mobility and data popularity to enhance the benefits of cache decisions for individuals to a broader set of mobiles requesting the same data.

Parallel computing is a simultaneous use of multiple compute resources such as processors to solve difficult computational problems. It has been used in high-end computing areas such as pattern recognition, defense, web search engine, and medical diagnosis. This paper focuses on the implementation of pattern classification technique, Support Vector Machine (SVM) using Symmetric Multi-Processor (SMP) approach. We have carried out a performance analysis to benchmark the sequential SVM program against the SMP approach. The result shows that the parallelization of SVM training achieves a better performance than the sequential code speed-ups by 15.9s. © 2014 IEEE.

Online content propagation gives rise to tremendous data explosion and requires efficient management for a large amount of network resources, after next generation network service predomination. Especially in the age of social network, the way of content propagation and consumption has significantly changed from requesting to sharing. Since massive users are tending to influenced by the trends in social community and mainstream media, content caching becomes an effective method for providing better quality of service for such social relationships. A key challenge is traditional caching strategies cannot meet the dynamic variation in geo-social environments. In this paper, we propose a dynamic social content caching scheme with social user mobility. We employ a combination of cooperative filtering recommendation and cache update algorithm to effectively predict and manage cache updates. Simulation results show that our caching method over performs than classical caching methods that rely on the historical popularity prediction.

In the past few years, social networks became extremely popular all over the globe. With more than one billion users worldwide, social networks are considered the new venue of innovation over the Internet. Through social networks, people can start and do business, or simply meet and maintain contact with other persons. However, due to its rapid growth, it has become common that users want to create their own social networks, according to their interests, and build their own communities. This paper proposes a new model of social networking management system, which allows users to create and make a full management of their own social networks, based on a cloud environment. Furthermore, a comparison between the current state-of-the-art on online social networks platforms and the SNetGNA Communities platform proposed in this paper is performed. It was shown that SNetGNA Communities appears as a step ahead regarding the current state-of-the-art and can be used as a promisingWeb-based solution for online social networks creation and management.

One of the factors influencing the quality of a mobile user's multimedia experience is the rate at which they can receive data. To connect to the wireless network that best meets their needs a user must first detect available networks and then select the most suitable network. However, it may not always be in the best interest of the user to actually invoke a network detection and selection strategy. Simulation results show that in certain conditions it is detrimental to the end user to switch networks, even when an apparently 'better' network is detected. In order to help decide when it is appropriate to invoke network detection and selection algorithms, this paper introduces the Scan-Or-Not-to-Scan (SONS) framework. SONS decides based on environmental inputs, when to invoke or not a network detection and selection algorithm. The use of the SONS framework enables the user to conserve energy by shutting down unused interfaces and maximise data throughput. Reducing the number of unnecessary handovers helps maintain the mobile user multimedia quality of experience.

We propose an elegant source coding technique with highly asymmetric frequencies of occurrences of different symbols. Keeping the symbol with the highest frequency of occurrence as silent during transmission, we achieve substantial savings of transmitter and receiver energies by using a hybrid Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) - Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) modulation/demodulation technique. Our results show that for channels with Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), on an average, the transmitter side energy is reduced by about 53%, while at the receiver side there is about 17.2% savings. Due to the savings of transmitter and receiver energies and the low cost/complexity of the proposed transceiver, our proposed scheme is suitable for multi-hop communication in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs).

In Mobile Wireless Sensor Networks (MWSNs) where mobile sensor nodes densely exist, it is desirable to gather sensor data from the minimum number of sensor nodes which are necessary to guarantee the sensing coverage in order to reduce communication traffic. In the past, we have proposed a data gathering method using mobile agents in dense MWSNs. However, since this method assumes that only one sink is present in a network, it cannot effectively reduce traffic in environments where multiple sinks exist. In this paper, we propose a mobile agents control scheme which guarantees multiple sinks' coverages and efficiently gathers sensor data. In the proposed method, mobile agents are communalized if their sensing points overlap, and sensor data are aggregated to transmit them to same direction.
