Existing authorization schemes for the WWW present a client administration problem when hyperlinked documents and contents are stored in different servers. A new distributed authorization model is proposed where information servers are grouped into authorization domains. User administration is simplified as only one server in the domain needs to know its potential clients. Extensions to the model provide support document and content migration and implementation of user groups. A prototype of the model was implemented over an existing WWW system.

In this paper, we present current state and aims of our ongoing research aimed at advanced interactive multimedia and mulsemedia delivery in 5G networks. We summarize the underlying and necessary properties of 5G networks, architecture of SDN/NFV and their usage in the multimedia and mulsemedia delivery. Advanced topics as content adaptation and user identification are discussed. Preliminary results regarding algorithms for content adaptation are presented. We show the advance of usage of AR/VR headsets as effective terminal for immersive application for this kind of delivery and discuss the advantages and disadvantages. We propose corresponding system architecture for advanced interactive multimedia delivery in 5G networks.

Several types of content Distribution Networks are being deployed over the Internet today, based on different architectures to meet their requirements (e.g., scalability, efficiency and resiliency). Peer-to-peer (P2P) based content Distribution Networks are promising approaches that have several advantages. Structured P2P networks, for instance, take a proactive approach and provide efficient routing mechanisms. Nevertheless, their maintenance can increase considerably in highly dynamic P2P environments. In order to address this issue, a two-tier architecture called Omicron that combines a structured overlay network with a clustering mechanism is suggested in a hybrid scheme. In this paper, we examine several sampling algorithms utilized in the aforementioned hybrid network that collect local information in order to apply a selective join procedure. Additionally, we apply the sampling algorithms on Chord in order to evaluate sampling as a general information gathering mechanism. The algorithms are based mostly on random walks inside the overlay networks. The aim of the selective join procedure is to provide a well balanced and stable overlay infrastructure that can easily overcome the unreliable behavior of the autonomous peers that constitute the network. The sampling algorithms are evaluated using simulation experiments as well as probabilistic analysis where several properties related to the graph structure are revealed.

In this work we propose all intuitive graphic framework for the effective visualization of MPEG-7 low-level features, in the context of classification and annotation of audio-visual documents. This graphic tool is proposed to facilitate the access to the content, and to improve a quick understanding of the semantics associated to the considered document. The main visualization paradigm employed consists in representing a 2D feature space in which the shots of the audiovisual document are located. In another window, the same shots are drawn in a temporal bar that gives the users also the information related to the time domain. In the main window, shots with similar content fall near each other, and the proposed tool offers various functionalities for automatically and semi-autonmatically finding and annotating shot clusters in the feature space. The use of the proposed system to analyze the content offew video sequences has shown very interesting capabilities.

This paper presents an approach based on wireless web and dialogue system convergence for multimodal, multimedia communication services over converged networks. It uses a unique event-triggered service delivery method that separates service interaction and wireless web-based service delivery. Our approach results in an architecture of WAP-based, location-independent, wireless service monitoring, notification and service access for mobile users that can be applied over various network bearers in enterprise environment. A new wireless secure server (WSS) provides secure connections to dialogue systems. It allows one-key switching to retrieve the multimediacontent. A prototype system was implemented and performance advantages were demonstrated on several enterprise service applications.

A multimedia document consists of different media objects that are to be sequenced and presented according to temporal and spatial specifications. Collaborative authoring helps in simultaneous editing and viewing of a multimedia document by multiple authors. However, it may cause the objects composing a multimedia document to be distributed over a computer network. In this paper, we propose a framework for distributed multimedia document to be distributed over a computer network. In this paper, we propose a framework for distributed multimedia document authoring and presentation. The salient features of this framework are: flexible temporal specification based on difference constraints, system and user defined access filters, local editing, format conversions of media objects, and flexible object retrieval schedules for handling variations in system parameters such as network throughput and buffer resources. We propose shortest-path based algorithms for solving difference constraints. We show how the proposed algorithms can handle local editing and access filtering of multimedia documents. We also describe how the difference constraints based temporal specifications can help in deriving a flexible object retrieval schedule.
