Advanced social information exchange is required in modern society. Therefore, two increasingly important goals in school education are enabling students to acquire practical information utilization skills and teaching students how to appropriately use the Internet. In particular, there is a strong need in today's society for the ability to use social networking services (SNS) such as LINE, Twitter, and Facebook. However, many risks related to the use of SNS have been reported, and a recent increase in problematic behaviors of students due to inappropriate Internet usage, such as cyberbullying and Internet dependence, has become a significant problem in Japan. As a result, the Japanese government has requested that schools improve education about rules and manners for using the Internet. Providing such education about the Internet, especially education that changes the awareness, attitudes, and behaviors of children when using SNS, is an important and necessary role of schools today. Experiencing actual behaviors is an effective way to learn correct attitudes and develop a better sense of awareness. Therefore, we developed an SNS system that allows students to actually experience using an SNS and realize the risks and dangers of using such platforms. We developed two types of computer systems to assist with this education. The first system is for classrooms without facilities for Internet access, and the second is for classrooms with Internet access. The first system is implemented with a laptop computer. This system is compact and easily portable, and it includes a built-in laptop computer server function as well as a wireless LAN access point function. The second system was built on a cloud computer, and is used via the Internet. In this study, we implemented a practical lesson for a special-needs school that teaches students how to safely use SNS. This paper presents the design of the Functional Geospatial Information System (FunGIS), which is aimed at providing a comprehensive GIS service to disabled people. FunGIS provides features for fast, easy access to information and aids users find what they want and information querying. FunGIS enhances the information content for disabled people and the performance of the system in a comprehensive manner so that a) the possibility of integrating the system with live, working information sources and b) reduced information maintenance can be achieved. The technology and implementation considerations for FunGIS, performance evaluation and the lessons learnt have also been provided in this paper. Such systems are extremely useful in the African context for managing disabled people in that locations of important entities such as toilets, restaurants, fuel stations can be easily identified and become easily navigatable. The linguistics aids in FunGIS would provide further assistance in an Africa, where disparate people live in diverse areas.

Photo privacy has raised a growing concern with the advancements of image analytics, face recognition, and deep learning techniques widely applied on social media. If properly deployed, these powerful techniques can in turn assist people in enhancing their online privacy. One possible approach is to build a strong, automatic and dynamic access control mechanism based on analyzing the image content and learning users sharing behavior. This paper presents a model for context-dependent and privacy-aware photo sharing based on machine learning. The proposed model utilizes image semantics and requester contextual information to decide whether or not to share a particular picture with a specific requester at certain context, and if yes, at which granularity. To evaluate the proposed model, we conducted a user study on 23 subjects and collected a dataset containing 1'018 manually annotated images with 12'216 personalized contextual sharing decisions. Evaluation experiments were performed and the results show a promising performance of the proposed model for photo sharing decision making. Furthermore, the influences of different types of features on decision making have been investigated, the results of which validate the usefulness of pre-defined features and imply a significant variance between users sharing behaviors and privacy attitudes.

The recent advances in light field imaging are changing the way in which visual content is captured, processed and consumed. Storage and delivery systems for light field images rely on efficient compression algorithms. Such algorithms must additionally take into account the feature-rich rendering for light field content. Therefore, a proper evaluation of visual quality is essential to design and improve coding solutions for light field content. Consequently, the design of subjective tests should also reflect the light field rendering process. This paper aims at presenting and comparing two methodologies to assess the quality of experience in light field imaging. The first methodology uses an interactive approach, allowing subjects to engage with the light field content when assessing it. The second, on the other hand, is completely passive to ensure all the subjects will have the same experience. Advantages and drawbacks of each approach are compared by relying on statistical analysis of results and conclusions are drawn. The obtained results provide useful insights for future design of evaluation techniques for light field content.

An intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is a computer-based instructional system, involving intelligent algorithms and strategies, which brings a remarkable progress in the learning processes when the internet is 'always on'. In fact, ITS makes inferences about a student's proficiency level in order to dynamically adapt the learning content or the tutoring style. Around the same time, emotions, whether positive or negative, affect the learning process. Accordingly, the regulation of learners' negative emotional state, is an imperious factor in learning, in order to optimize learners' performances and to improve learning productivity during an ITS episode. Firstly, this paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) on strategies for regulating the emotional state of learners in the point of view of (a) emotion recognition, (b) emotion modelling, (c) emotion recognition theories, and (d) emotion recognition approaches and methods. Secondly, the paper proposes a new intelligent method, and presents its architecture as a Fuzzy Emotional Regulation for ITS distributed under the Multiagent Approach. This architecture will be used to generate an Emotionally Intelligent Tutoring Sys-tem (EITS) allowing learner to achieve his educational purpose adaptively, anywhere and at any time. © 2017 IEEE.
