Future Internet is foreseen to fully handle a wide range of multimedia services allowing their access trough diverse computing devices such as laptops, TVs, PDAs and 3G mobile phones interconnected via different wire-line and wireless networking technologies. Such a diversification in the computational context reinforces the need of personalized and adaptive media services towards better end-user experience. However, building context-aware media systems raises a number of challenges related to (i) context representation, management and provisioning (ii) binding context situations to services and (iii) performing context-driven service and content adaptation; and this in a dynamic, scalable and interoperable way. In this paper, we present a future Internet architecture1 that enables automated situation-driven media services' discovery, composition and delivery. The proposed solution relies on a new Home-Box layer among which the context-awareness and adaptation features are distributed.

Caching at the edge of the radio network is increasingly viewed as a promising countermeasure to the staggering demand for mobile video content. The persistent orientation of newer generations of mobile communication systems towards lower latency and faster radio access speeds only strengthens the arguments in its favor. When content caching is coordinated with other radio resource management functions, in particular, the benefits for the end users and the network operator are significant. In this paper, we investigate these benefits in cache-enabled small cell networks that jointly control (i) the Small-Cell Base Stations (SBSs) that serve as network access points for the mobile users; and (ii) the content that is stored at the SBS co-located caches. Our main contribution is a fast-converging computationally simple heuristic algorithm that iterates between assigning users to small cells and content to SBS caches, to maximize the overall cache hit ratio. The algorithm solutions compete with the optimal assignments at small problem instances and outperform alternative solutions for larger instances, especially when the content demand exhibits spatial locality. Combining good performance with non-prohibitive complexity, the algorithm could become a valuable tool for small cell network operators seeking to optimize the use of radio network resources.

Based on the social interactions of an email user, incoming email traffic can be divided into different categories such as, telemarketing, Opt-in family members and friends. Due to a lack of knowledge in the different categories, most of the existing spam filters are prone to high false positives and false negatives. Moreover, a majority of the spammers obfuscate their email content inorder to circumvent the content-based spam filters. However, they do not have access to all the fields in the email header. Our classification method is based on the path traversed by email (instead of content analysis) since we believe that spammers cannot forge all the fields in the email header. We based our classification on three kinds of analyses on the header: i) EndToEnd path analysis, which tries to establish the legitimacy of the path taken by an email and classifies them as either spam or non-spam; ii) Relay analysis, which verifies the trustworthiness of the relays participating in the relaying of emails; iii) Emails wantedness analysis, which measure the recipients wantedness of the senders emails. We use the IMAP message status flags such as, message has been read, deleted, answered, flagged, and draft as an implicit feed back from the user in Emails wantedness analysis. Finally we classify the incoming emails as i) socially close (such as, legitimate emails from family, and friends), ii) socially distinct emails from strangers, iii) spam emails (for example, emails from telemarketers, and spammers) and iv) opt-in emails. Based on the relation between spamminess of the path taken by spam emails and the unwantedness values of the spammers, we classify spammers as i) prospective spammers, ii) suspects, iii) recent spammers and iv) serial spammers. Overall, our method resulted in far less false positives compared to current filters like SpamAssassin. We achieved a precision of 98.65% which is better than the precisions achieved by SPF and DNSBL blacklists.

Retrieving images is a useful tool to help radiologist to check medical image and diagnosis. In this paper, we propose a retrieval system of computer aided brain magnetic resonance imaging diagnosis , which integrated archiving and communication system, feature extraction and storage, feature match, and user interfaces. The system can be access in three ways, (i) using our system including PACS and image retrieval system, (ii)embedded the software into current PACS, and (iii) internet connection to submit an image as a query, and receive in return a set of images from the the web system. The system utilizes sophisticated image processing algorithms, combined with robust database technology and state-of-the-art web-enabled hardware, and packages these capabilities into a tightly-integrated diagnosis environment for the radiologist. This paper outlines the architecture, algorithms, and the test/verification procedures that our system has implemented.

Technological developments of the last few years have favoured the creation of distributed networking infrastructures (usually referred to as community networks) where the resources are made available to the members of a community of people. With emerging large-scale community infrastructures the opportunities for new commercial services and for innovative business models are becoming feasible. Since one of the most resource-demanding services today is access to user-generated content through the Web, suitable content delivery services are needed in the context of community networks in orders to make an effective usage of shared resources. In this paper we describe two architectures we have designed to provide optimized delivery of multimedia Web content (e.g. video but also other kinds of user generated content) within community networks. Both architectures work without any kind of cooperation from the original content providers but assume that a basic Web caching service is provided within the network, either by commercial service providers or by the community members themselves. While the first architecture relies on a traditional centralized control entity, the second is designed according to the peer-to-peer paradigm, in order to provide better scalability, robustness to failures and self-configurability. Experimental results are also presented aimed at evaluating the performance gains for end-users from a localized distribution of content in scenarios in which community members are distributed in clusters sparse at different geographic locations.

For the past several years, taking very large collections of images in everyday life has become more common. All audiovisual artifacts are more likely to be shared and collaborated on since images might come from various devices such as smartphones, satellites, web cams, and drones. Not only that but they are often employed to represent things in a wide range of settings (public areas, train stations, hospitals, political and sports events, competitions, etc.). Hence, multimedia information processor approaches are growing in significance for the many kinds of visual identification jobs that must be adapted to handle large numbers while filling available window processing time. New approaches are being developed, audiences' tastes are shifting, and digital media technologies are becoming more powerful and accessible regularly, contributing to the medium's ever-evolving landscape. This article presents the planning stages of a MIPS (multimedia Information Processing System). This study provides a platform for image processing methods using a virtualized toolbox. Virtual servers, applications, system time, and data mining are all made possible on this platform thanks to the combination of these digital processing approaches. Additionally, the necessary frameworks and equipment adapters are automatically linked and installed, allowing members to access various apps without downloading and installing software programs. Experiments employed digital processing applications, (ii) a deep backpropagation algorithm for picture classification and multiobject placement, and (iii) a program for indexing and retrieving images. These analyses indicated the system's goal of facilitating the open distribution of important developments and annotation databases to guarantee the efficacy of artificial intelligence-based applications for processing multimedia content.

This research introduces an approach named “Cloud-Driven Personalized Experience Enhancement” to satisfy the escalating demand for enhanced digital connectivity. Via cutting-edge cloud services and applications, the CPExE framework provides a groundbreaking solution for digital platforms. The framework is built upon three core components: Together with the Quantum-Inspired Data Analytics and Evaluation (QIDAE) and Personalized content Recommendations (PRA), Dynamic Resource Allocation and Adaptation (DRAA) completes the framework. By leveraging quantum-inspired approaches, QIDAE analyzes vast datasets with outstanding effectiveness and exactness improving processes for data handling and personalization. This strategy allows for swift detection of patterns while making certain that data-driven understandings are both on time and precise. By changing cloud resources according to user requests the DRAA module guarantees uninterrupted access to computing power and data storage. By managing resources effectively in real-time it decreases latency and improves service speeds. By using complex algorithms to assess user habits and choices the PRA system boosts the digital experience. PRA uses both content-focused filtering and collaborative screening strategies to provide users with engaging content that matches their unique preferences. By applying sophisticated analytics and resource management methods with content personalization CPExE boosts the user experience and develops cloud technology efficiency. This framework signifies an important progress toward developing dynamic and tailored online environments.

Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) allow communication between moving nodes without using infrastructure like access points, stationary routers or GPS. This offers new communication opportunities, especially in challenging environments. To communicate in MANETs we often need routing functionality, which usually provides unicast-based best effort packet delivery. Publish/Subscribe (Pub/Sub) is a well known and powerful paradigm that provides higher expressiveness than unicast routing. It decouples senders from receivers and allows information exchange between network nodes that offer certain data (called publishers) and nodes that declare their interest in data of some pattern (called subscribers). Especially in MANET applications, Pub/Sub provides useful functionality to support realistic scenarios and novel applications. This paper proposes a new algorithm called TPSR, tailored to efficiently support Pub/Sub in MANETs. It is based mainly on two principles: i) it uses the dissemination of subscriptions to create source routes; and ii) it uses the signal strength messages are received with, to optimize routes in terms of striking a good balance between long routes and fragile routes. Simulations based on ns-2 demonstrate its performance, in comparison with flooding and unicast-based solutions.

The convergence of emerging real-time multimedia services, the increasing coverage of wireless networks and the ever-growing popularity of mobile devices, are leading to an era of user-centric multimedia wireless services. In this scenario, heterogeneous communications will co-exist and ensure that the end-user is always best connected. However, the Quality of Experience (QoE) support for emerging video applications in multi-operator environments remains a significant challenge and is crucial for the success of wireless multimedia systems. This paper presents a Quality of Experience Handover Architecture for Converged Heterogeneous Wireless Networks, called QoEHand. QoEHand allows users of multimedia content to be always best connected in IEEE 802.11e and IEEE 802.16e environments. Simulation results show the impact and benefit of the proposed solution in multi-access and multi-operator wireless scenarios by using objective and subjective QoE metrics.
