The substrate of this paper is based on the technological imperative to procreate and disseminate dynamic content about cultural institutions of Thessaloniki and portable exhibits associated with them. mobile and portable devices of various latent capacities alongside remote-controlled equipment, like drones, were extensively used to implement dynamic web platform and similar systems aiming to provide a multi-purpose featured starting point for the VR effective guidance in the websphere. Tourists, scholars in the humanities or even researchers of particular branches, like paleography, art-directing, architecture - to name a few- treat themselves in presentation with multimedia material of information regarding the contemporary whereabouts and the historical analyses over quite long developmental periods.

The way we create, consume and interact with multimedia content has changed significantly in recent years with the advent of affordable recording devices and easy sharing and access in the form of mobile phones. With the imminent wave of affordable devices that enable mixed reality experiences and the large variety of devices on the market, interaction with multimedia content is expected to continue to evolve rapidly. This will also drastically affect the entire area of multimedia information retrieval in eXtended Reality (XR), for instance by novel ways to express user needs in VR, result presentation that takes the specific capabilities of XR devices into account, and/or result feedback. This tutorial on multimedia Retrieval in XR discusses and demonstrates existing solutions and highlights key challenges in this evolving field. © 2024 Owner/Author.

mobile technologies facilitate the distribution of cultural events over a wide area, by enabling the creation and sharing of high quality multimedia content. The mixture of performing data, i.e. the presentation of plays, concerts or similar forms of entertainment with teaching and instruction in general proves to be a process that accelerates the distribution potential of mobile learning. How this process may acquire systematic features for instructional purposes, by detailed information on what an artistic show is about in terms of theory on the subject, with a collection of propositions that illustrate its principles and foundations, is researched in this paper.

This paper presents a novel approach to using tablets by dividing a touchscreen into several independent segments and enabling simultaneous interaction of multiple users with a single device. This solution supports the display of more than two independent segments on the same device, and each segment can be easily and independently rotated, with content oriented according user's preferences. The feasibility of our approach is evidenced by the implementation of two tablet mobile applications that provide both individual and collaborative educational activities, which have been evaluated with primary school pupils.

The advent of 5G networks has brought about a significant transformation in contemporary society, highlighting notable growth, especially in the real-time video transmission sector but also in streaming services. However, users still face issues with inadequate video quality, particularly when the transmission characteristics of 5G networks vary. Within this context, this paper presents an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model for predicting the video quality delivered to the end user. The proposed model considers both static and dynamic scenarios in vehicular devices, recognizing the importance of understanding content delivery according to the user's situation. This work's proposal uses real network data from 5G network measurements, enabling the optimization of user experience in dynamic 5G environments. The results demonstrate that the proposal can contribute to the continuous improvement of video quality delivery in the context of mobile networks.

This paper presents the results of research on the application of new technologies to improve the quality of museum services, especially at Danang Museum. The new contribution of the research here is to propose a model for an automatic guide system based on the application of QR Code technology and multimedia data mining. The system allows visitors to access multimedia explanatory content (text, audio or video) of each artifact through the corresponding QR Code. In particular, the system provides multilingual explanatory data (English, French and Vietnamese) for more than 600 artifacts and easily updates explanatory data for artifacts. © 2024 IEEE.

The pursuit of immersive telepresence has always aimed to capture and stream 3D environments, enabling remote viewers to observe scenes from any view angle. However, realizing this vision remains demanding, especially with current mobile AR/VR devices, due to intricate scene details, network latency, and bandwidth constraints. This demo introduces MeshReduce, an innovative approach that integrates a novel distributed 3D scene capture technique with a split rendering framework. Our demo shows a prototype of a cross-platform, live 3D telepresence system that can be viewed on standard web browsers. The capture setup consists of multiple depth sensors, capturing users and the background scene in real time. MeshReduce uniquely allows for real-time rendering of remotely captured 3D scenes, seamlessly merging them with content on the user's device.

Terahertz (THz) communication is one of the key technologies of the sixth-generation mobile communication system (6G) and is receiving more and more attention for its large bandwidth and ultra-high data rate features. To support the performance evaluation of THz wireless communication devices, it is critical to model wireless channels that can characterize the channel properties. In this paper, a THz channel model is proposed based on the scattering characterization. The channel model is then applied to generate channel coefficients and power delay profiles (PDPs) in an indoor scenario. The evaluation results indicate that the proposed channel model can appropriately characterize THz scattering properties and support THz communication system design. Finally, we summarize the advantages of this model and point out the next research content.

This study presents an innovative approach to promoting the international attractiveness of the University of Turin (UniTo) through synergy with the University of the West Timișoara in the "UNITorientA" project. In particular, the focus is developing a gamified virtual tour to offer students an interactive immersion in university spaces. mobile technology plays a central role, enabling students to explore university environments and access multimedia content via personal devices. In this context, mobile learning emerges as a critical element in enhancing the learning experience by expanding access to information and promoting student mobility. The present study, conducted in collaboration between UniTo's Department of Philosophy and Educational Sciences and the University of the West of Timișoara, aims to explore how the convergence of mobile technology and virtual tours can significantly contribute to the knowledge and experience acquisition process of university students, highlighting the transformative potential of technology. © 2024 International conferences e-Society 2024 and mobile Learning 2024. The need for digital multimedia has surged with advanced and affordable mobile devices. Offering multimedia via free space optical (FSO) systems is possible but doing so requires a lot of energy. Also, for optical wireless communication systems, signal strength degradation brought on by atmospheric turbulence is an unavoidable drawback. In this paper we present an energy-efficient turbulence-regime based adaptive FSO broadcast scheme, that optimally combines the turbulence-regime information at the receiver with a particular multimedia service (e.g., video quality profile) for adaptive scalable multimedia encoding of the broadcast content. The strength of turbulence at the receiver is obtained a priori based on rytov parameter at that location. Based on this information, in order to optimally use the base station power reserve the transmitter may decide to send turbulence adapted multimedia content quality namely, a fair signal strength instead of good/excellent for weak turbulence, good signal strength instead of excellent for moderate turbulence and excellent signal strength for strong turbulence. By incorporating the turbulence information in the multimedia encoding, the proposed scheme helps to achieve a better quality of experience and higher energy saving both in terms of base station power reserve and user equipment energy saving as compared to the pure quality maximizing scheme or fixed power allocation scheme. The simulation results also show that the churn rate is minimum in the proposed scheme.
