In this paper, the concept of Identity Tokens is described and how this approach can help to build up a stable, reliable and secure AAA 1 infrastructure without loosing sight of privacy. This approach can be used in (mobile) environments to guarantee that a user is not pushed to submit private information that, within his view, is in an untrusted domain, but that he can still be authenticated, authorized and billed.

Optical Burst Switching (OBS) technology offers a promising solution for the next generation Internet backbone. One of the main aspects in the deployment of OBS services is the development of an optical traffic/performance monitoring scheme allowing the provision of user-specified quality of service (QoS). In this paper, we develop a performance monitoring scheme for an OBS network architecture suitable for contention resolution and QoS provisioning. It mainly addresses congestion control and QoS monitoring. Simulation experiments are also performed to validate the proposed scheme and analyze its performances.

The telecommunications market is changing and it makes that telecommunications operators search for a way to offer new and attractive services for its users. This is even more important when the mobile networks infrastructure update process is considered. Latin-American operators are planning to introduce 3G networks technology on the region. However, these changes imply great inversions too. This paper presents a proposal to offer services based on session initiation protocol (SIP) with a low cost platform based on market tendencies adopting initiatives as 3GPP IP multimedia subsystem (IMS).

Personalized multimedia (PMM) services are the emerging area in multimedia technology. A PMM service is a multimedia service requested according to the users personal profile which typically includes individual preferences, keeping the technical constraints of mobile terminal in use and operating environment. An important issue of authentication in PMM service platform is, "how does it determines who the mobile user is, if requests are allowed to come in from various communication channels and devices." We propose a transaction based authentication scheme for PMM service using cognitive agents. The proposed approach dynamically deploys authentication challenges based on mobile transaction sensitivity, users mobility and behaviors. The method has been simulated with a typical PMM service over in-house established wireless testbed, the results are time efficient and quite encouraging.

Optical burst switching (OBS) is a promising switching paradigm that is very suitable to be deployed in the next generation Internet. OBS combines the benefits of various evolving techniques to economize the network traffic through an optical network. However, OBS lacks mechanisms to prevent or eliminate the network traffic congestion. In this paper, we propose to use the flow control and reservation bits (FCRB) of the staged reservation scheme (SRS) as a congestion control mechanism for optical burst switched networks. The simulation results show that this technique allows the OBS edge nodes to control the network traffic flows, and enables the core nodes to maintain a low burst drop rate.

Remote monitoring systems based on Web-server-embedded technology and mobile telecommunication will become a core node technology in sensing network construction because of a great deal of mobile users and spreads of digital services in next generation telecommunication in the world. Soil, environmental, and crop information monitoring are important in production management and decision-making in precision agriculture. Therefore, reliability, security and inexpensive characteristics required are essential in the crop field information monitoring. Three improved field monitoring servers (FMS) using code division multiple access (CDMA) services combined with IPsec-based virtual private network (VPN) function have installed to two rice practical fields in Shanghai and one maize experimental field in Beijing for constructing a remote wireless sensing network. This crop field remote monitoring system as a ubiquitous node infrastructure in wireless sensing networks is useful and powerful to collect soil, environment, and crop information in remote for precision agriculture via two-years testing

Secure multicasting is one of the major requirements for today's communication arena. And for any kind of secure communication, a key-distribution scheme is the most sensible part. Being a highly promising, low-cost, and emerging wireless technology, Bluetooth has key distribution supports for secure multicasting over its unit one-hop network, piconet. Bluetooth core specification defines basic security protocols for key generation, encryption, and authentication for intra-piconet security. However, not much attention has been paid so far on securing multicasting over the Bluetooth Scatternet; nevertheless, multicasting is quite a sensible aspect of modern communication arena. Here in this paper, we extend the piconets key distribution scheme to present a new key management scheme for secure multicasting over Bluetooth Scatternets. Our key management scheme is compatible to the current Bluetooth architecture design as we rely on Bluetooth's existing security algorithms to propose our resolution.

WiMAX technology, based on IEEE 802.16 standard, is a promising broadband wireless technology for future 4G network. WiMAX provides radio access with centralized control, where bandwidth resources are managed and allocated by base station (BS) for both uplink (UL) and downlink (DL). Current WiMAX standard defines several bandwidth request (BWReq) mechanisms to serve a variety of applications, which however may not be efficient for on-off bursty traffic patterns. In this paper, we propose a novel adaptive polling service (aPS), with the advantage of significantly reducing the signaling overhead associated with the bandwidth request process without compromising the delay performance of real-time applications. Extensive simulations demonstrate that aPS outperforms existing scheduling services in terms of overall efficiency for a wide range of applications.

Relay enhanced cellular network is a promising architecture for next generation wireless communication system. Introducing relay nodes into cellular networks challenges the resource allocation. The centralized subcarrier and power allocation algorithm which maximizes system capacity with constraint of overall transmission power is studied for OFDMA based relay enhanced cellular networks. A heuristic algorithm is proposed for subcarrier assignment to exploit multiuser diversity as much as possible. An iterative power allocation algorithm is presented to balance the two-hop links of each relay node based on the predetermined subcarrier assignment solution. Performance of the proposed algorithms is evaluated. Numerical results show that the proposals can achieve significant improvement on system capacity without heavy computational complexity.
