Among the promising solutions for next generation Internet backbones, one can consider the optical burst switching (OBS) technology. One of the main aspects in the design of optical burst-switched networks is the development of a burst admission control protocol suitable for QoS provisioning. In this paper, we develop a method to address the call admission control (CAC) in OBS networks that is QoS-oriented. For this, an analytic model is developed for formulating the burst admission control problem. A QoS-constraints based burst admission control protocol is developed. Finally, simulation experiments are performed to validate the proposed schemes.

Optical burst switching (OBS) is an optical switching paradigm which offers a good tradeoff between the traditional optical circuit switching (OCS) and optical packet switching (OPS) since it has the relatively easy implementation of the first and the efficient bandwidth utilization of the second. Hence, OBS is a promising technology for the next generation optical Internet. A buffer-less OBS network can be implemented using ordinary optical communication equipment without the need for either wavelength converters or optical memories. However, OBS networks suffer from a relatively high blocking probability, a primary metric of interest, because of contention. In this paper we propose a new contention resolution scheme for buffer-less OBS networks using deflection routing and reinforcement learning agents to dynamically assign an appropriate offset time (OT) to each burst in order to reduce losses caused, for example, by insufficient offset time (IOT) in case only deflection is used. Simulation results demonstrate that our approach reduces effectively blocking probability, whereas it maintains a reasonable end-to-end delay for each burst. Hence, it establishes an appropriate tradeoff between loss rate and delay.

When the digital forensic investigator looks into the suspicious organization including the company, it is important to obtain the data which has the overview of information of the organization. Since system structure of computer and network about the organization is complicated, the investigator who does not know its structure has a difficulty to detect the database system which has the data. In particular, if the organization intentionally builds the covert database system in order to hide data, then the investigator would have a more difficulty. In this paper, we describe structures of the covert database system for hiding fraud information in the organization. next, we show techniques and propose our tool for detecting the covert database system. And then we suggest scenarios about investigation procedure using our tool.

The supply chain management business can benefit greatly from automation, as recent developments with RFID technology shows. The use of Wireless sensor Network technology promises to bring the next leap in efficiency and quality of service. However, current WSN system software does not yet provide the required functionality, flexibility and safety. This paper discusses a scenario showing how WSN technology can benefit supply chain management, and presents sensorScheme, a platform for realizing the scenario. sensorScheme is a general purpose WSN platform, providing a safe execution environment for dynamically loaded programs. It uses high level programming primitives like marshalled communication, automatic memory management, and multiprocessing facilities. sensorScheme makes efficient use of the little available memory present in WSN nodes, to allow larger and more complex programs than the state of the art. We present a sensorScheme implementation and provide experimental results to show its compactness, speed of operation and energy efficiency.

In this paper we present, for the first time, the hybrid fiber-optic voltage and current sensors interrogated using an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) device. Due to the excellent dynamic capabilities of an AWG-based interrogator and its improved robustness, the proposed system would be suitable for voltage and current monitoring within an aircraft electrical system. The voltage sensor comprises a multilayer piezoelectric stack, acting as a voltage-to-strain transducer, and a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) used to convert voltage induced strain changes within the stack into wavelength shifts. These wavelength shifts are then analysed by an AWG. To measure current, the same sensor type is used to monitor a specially designed ferrite-core current transformer. It is shown that the system is capable of measuring variable frequency of voltage and current waveforms, typical of those anticipated in the next generation aero-electric power systems. It is also demonstrated that the system can be used for voltage and current harmonic analysis and power quality measurement in such networks.

This paper provides a novel IT service in NGN network with SIP and presence servers and the dynamic session control system for multi-devices (DSCSM). It is how to make the end user to control multi-devices in NGN before a session setup and during a session dynamically. The multi-devices in DSCSM can be mobile phone, fixed phone, PC phone or any other communication device used by end user. By applying this system in current carrier's network, the end user can enjoy the new IT service of controlling his multi-devices for a session dynamically according to the environment and his convenience.

New mobile applications and services in the field of e.g. healthcare, transport and mobile work and business processes implies to manage huge amount of relevant information. In many cases involved people e.g. a patient or a worker are not aware of specific data or not able to take an active role in this managing process. The key to it is the development of Intelligent Wireless sensor networks for transferable applications. This is seen as the consequent next step forward within the field of mobile applications and services The upcoming new wireless technologies open the door to a wide field of new possibilities thereby creating the basis for a new approach to communication. This new approach will empower businesses to implement true mobile products and services in leisure, production and enterprise related contexts. Today we have high focus on new mobile services and applications using the existing technology. In the meanwhile the interoperability with other wireless technologies has become more and more important. Our goal is to design and construct a system that can be put into practical use and prove the benefits and potential of this vital data monitoring system. We describe an experimental system for measuring acceleration from which, we could evaluate the problems facing practical use.

Optical burst switching (OBS) technology is a promising solution for the next generation Internet backbone. However, call admission control (CAC) and QoS support constitute critical issues for this technology. In this paper, we propose a novel QoS-Oriented scheme for burst admission control in OBS networks. An analytic model is developed to estimate the provided QoS for a given traffic type. We also develop a performance evaluation study to validate the proposed scheme and evaluate its impacts on the efficiency of network resource utilization.

Cameras attached to mobile phones are becoming more and more common, and as we move towards 3G and next generation networks, it has become more a standard feature of mobile phones. Over recent months there have been a few grandiose claims within the media about the potential misuse of phones with camera capability. Unfortunately some of these claims are not proved by available facts resulting into confusion and misunderstanding. It may suffice to say that some digital cameras are smaller convenient and technology superior in image quality. This makes them easier to use in an unacceptable manner. Camera phones are designed to provide a means of transferring images via your mobile phone to complement voice or text based communication for business or personal reasons. Normally the youth gets attracted towards the sexual photography and watching movies on the mobile devices. Some times such movies get broadcast on the network like wild fire and it is available to all the community. It is indeed a difficult task to identify the user who has captured these photographs or movies and made it public. This paper focuses on a technique through which this problem can be solved. This technique, if implemented, on a mobile phone can really help the concerned authority to identify the culprits.

This paper specifies the IPv6 address configuration over 3G networks. Although 3GPP and 3GPP2 handle the same issues, they provide a minimum guideline to use IPv6 in 3G networks. In this paper, we describe the IPv6 address configuration over CDMA for the compatibility with general IPv6 operations and efficient IPv6 address configuration. This paper includes general IPv6 address configuration, IPv6 address configuration in 3GPP, and IPv6 address configuration in 3GPP2. With the comparison to general IPv6 operations, we identify some problems of IPv6 address configuration in 3GPP and 3GPP2, and then describe some solutions to solve the problems.
