In this paper, a scheduling problem is considered in the cellular network where there exist CBR (constant bit rate) users requiring exact minimum average throughput and delay guarantee, and EMG (elastic with minimum guarantee) users requiring minimum average throughput and delay guarantee and more throughput if possible. We first define a new utility function of average queue length. Based on the new queue utility function and the throughput utility function proposed before, we design a 2-dimensional weight function that will be used in our scheduling algorithm, and suggest a source control algorithm that can work with the scheduling algorithm. We show through simulations that the proposed algorithm guarantees the QoS (quality of service) requirements of CBR and EMG users.

Hierarchical mobile IPv6 (HMIPv6) is already established by Internet engineering task force (IETF) for reduced signaling cost and enhanced seamless handoff supporting local registration. The aim of this paper is to establish the mathematical model for general N layered HMIPv6 architecture for wireless IP-based network. The intention is to get an insight of the requirement for optimum level of hierarchy depending on the different network parameters and mobility patterns of the mobile terminal. We observe the various parameters like frequency of location update, cost of location update and handoff latency of the network for N layers. It is seen that three level hierarchies in HMIPv6 architecture shows a promise to become hierarchical mobility management model for next generation wireless networks. Moreover, this model helps for judgment to adopt the hierarchy related to the network conditions. In a growing number of mobile users everyday, networks of tomorrow will be large in size at the same time concerning scalability. This mathematical model is an efficient solution to the scalability problem.

Summary form only given. The network sensing systems connect various sensors by wire in order to collect information measured by each sensor. Although, the wired connection causes certain restrictions regarding with the system installation. Consequently, many kinds of research on wireless sensor network systems have been developed. However, almost all commercialized products utilize a battery as the power source. But, the battery exchange process is needed and therefore the setting condition is restricted, again. Furthermore, the management cost of the battery is troublesome. In order to solve these problems, we have proposed the wireless network sensing system with sensor modules with MEMS sensor and without battery by applying the RFID system for power transmittance. Based on this concept, the unique sensor module SNA-MEMS (smart nano micro electro mechanical systems) is developed for the demonstration. This module is driven by the electric power converted from radio wave at the in-module circuit to realize the battery-less concept by following the RFID standard, ISO 15693 13.56 MHz. The demo-model has a piezoresistive 3-axes MEMS acceleration sensor and consists of eight 1cm x 1 cm ceramic boards those are stacked vertically. Each board is connected to the next boards by soldering between through-hole bus located on outer rim of each board. The electric circuit in the modules has following circuit blocks: antenna, interface, power generation, reception, transmission, sensor, multiplexer, and MPU embedded ADC boards. In this paper, the concept of battery-less and wire-less sensing network with the details of developed sensing module, SNA-MEMS is introduced.

We present a novel approach for image segmentation using genetic algorithm (GA) implemented in cellular neural networks (CNNUM). This paper also demonstrates how the cellular neural universal machine architecture can be extended to image segmentation. It uses the highly parallel nature of the CNN structure and its speed outperforms traditional digital computers. The GA starts with a population of solutions, initialized randomly, to represent possible solutions of the segmentations. The solutions are evaluated using an appropriate fitness function and the fittest candidates are selected to be parents for producing off springs that form the next generation over several generations, populations evolve to yield the optimal results. The simulation results indicate that the quality of the segmented image is improvised by genetic algorithm using CNN in a time efficient manner. The feasibility of applying GA using CNN to image segmentation is investigated and initial results of segmentation of images are presented.

-The evolution strategy of NGN laboratory towards the converged networks based on IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) as trends and aims for implementation of converged NGN network is presented in the article. This article describes actual implementation of NGN laboratory and future planned extensions and integration work for incorporating IMS core elements to our laboratory as unified service control subsystem. Existing NGN solution includes applications and our experiences with integrations of applications and their usability.

This contribution is attempting to show how a route diversity can improve the traffic behavior of a connection between two network entities. The most used transmission protocols TCP and UDP control the quasi-totality of the Internet traffic. However they are not capable to carry out all the traffic generated by the Internet as they lead to congestion and packet loss out of the quality of service required specially for critical connections that need to be treat with a higher priority. In this paper, we focus on multipath routing and multipath transport protocols that seem to be a relevant solution to avoid the drawbacks generated by the use of a single path by each connection packet. Pushing connection packets on multiple paths during all the data transaction should bring a better QoS. We mention a new protocol design for the next generation Internet. This protocol has been developed in order to avoid or reduce the congestions appearance and the high variability of the Internet traffic. We suggest a TCP protocol based on Multiple Paths MPTCP for a data transmission between two network entities in a well-defined environment. A simulator has been developed in order to evaluate the gain provided by the route diversity.

IP radio access networks (RAN) are expected to employ CDMA as the next generation access networks (Bu et al., 2004). In the previous work, the problem about congestion of voice in IP-based CDMA RAN was examined and several policies were brought forward and evaluated with the assistance of simulations (Kasera et al., 2005). In this paper, we first develop a mathematical model to investigate the multi-region soft-handoff of the IP-based CDMA RAN and analyze its systematic characteristics. The effectiveness of the developed mathematical model is demonstrated by simulations. We then propose a max-leg-limit control policy to improve the system performance in terms of the blocking rate and the number of users. We also extend it to a more general situation, where instant video, instant data and voice are provided within an IP-based CDMA RAN. For such a multiple priority instant service system, we propose two control mechanisms, borrow-leg and router buffer preservation, to control the quality of services. Simulation shows that the control mechanisms are effective in keeping the quality of multi-priority services.

In this paper, we develop an intelligent IP-surveillance platform using interactive camera-handoff control, which is called IIPS-ICC. In addition to fundamental tele-surveillance functions, the emerging techniques adopted in IIPS-ICC contain flexible surveillance description language, scalable video coding and intelligent data fusion. The proposed camera-handoff control is used to assist client applications in changing a monitoring connection automatically when tracked people move among multiple cameras in a large-scale surveillance environment, e.g., hospital. According to experimental results, IIPS-ICC would be a feasible solution to provide more reliable and scalable surveillance services in the next-generation IP surveillance system.

Accurately positioning nodes in wireless and sensor networks is important because the location of sensors is a critical input to many higher-level networking tasks. However, the localization infrastructure can be subjected to non-cryptographic attacks, such as signal attenuation and amplification, that cannot be addressed by traditional security services. We propose several attack detection schemes for wireless localization systems. We first formulate a theoretical foundation for the attack detection problem using statistical significance testing. next, we define test metrics for two broad localization approaches: multilateration and signal strength. We then derived both mathematical models and analytic solutions for attack detection for any system that utilizes those approaches. We also studied additional test statistics that are specific to a diverse set of algorithms. Our trace-driven experimental results provide strong evidence of the effectiveness of our attack detection schemes with high detection rates and low false positive rates across both an 802.11 (WiFi) network as well as an 802.15.4 (ZigBee) network in two real office buildings. Surprisingly, we found that of the several methods we describe, all provide qualitatively similar detection rates which indicate that the different localization systems all contain similar attack detection capability.

For the practical multisensor systems,the communication channels are often unreliable,especially in large,wireless,multi hop sensor ***,the communication delays often appear and produce random and unknown influence upon the performance of fusion ***,data fusion for "Out-of-sequence"measurements(OOSM)attracts a mass of attentions gradually and some filters based on single sensor and multiple sensors have been ***,the existing methods for OOSM problem have several shortcomings,such as limited application for single sensor,bad real-time performance for the smooth property,low fusion estimate for neglecting the delayed information,and *** tackle these problems,a novel batch fusion estimator based on the relative measurements for multisensor tracking systems with OOSM is *** estimator is optimal in linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE).The paper also presents the suboptimal recursive form of the proposed *** principle is to establish the relative measurement equations of delayed observations to the next latest systemic *** with some existingfusion methods for OOSM,the proposed method with arbitrary time delays has the best total *** the same time,algorithm analysis and computer simulation validate the advantages of the proposed fusion estimator.
