Internet of Things is a new emerging technology by which devices can communicate using internet. The proposed work (i-NXGeVita), Intelligent next generation Vital Signs Monitoring System, states that how to apply Internet of Things in Healthcare using Machine Learning Techniques. Indeed, connect Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) to patient will be helping Doctors and Caregivers to monitor him or her in real-time around the globe. The IoMT devices will collect Vital Signs data such as body temperature, pulse rate, heartbeats (signals), using ECG (Electrocardiogram) sensor, Temperature sensor, etc. That will be stored in the Cloud System and it will synchronize with the local server. Machine Learning comes to analyze those data to identify health risks and estimate severity in real-time by using its Algorithms. i-NXGeVita based on Deep Neural networks (DNN) and IoMT can differentiate between Normal and Abnormal Heartbeats and classify different Abnormal Rhythms. Such techniques will be very useful for physicians to detect possible Health problems and deliver appropriate Medical assistance on time to serve humankind in better way. © 2018 IEEE.

To realize ubiquitous wireless network environment, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is considered as good candidate for the next generation network communication infrastructure. UAVs wireless sensor network is composed of low cost and extremely power constrained sensor nodes scattered over spatial region. In this network, users can use UAVs to transfer data. In addition, good maneuverability and wide range of coverage improve UAVs communication efficiency. Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) and Delay / Disruption Tolerant Network (DTN) are considered good supporter for UAVs network. However, the performance of UAVs network may change with the change of surrounding environment, such as UAV density and mobility. Neither single network architecture can always perform well in UAVs network. Therefore, we propose a novel method to improve UAVs network capabilities. In our proposed method, each source node selects the network architecture (MANET or DTN) according to the feature of the data that need to be sent and the network environment. Additionally, we have implemented this architecture and measured data in real world to verify the reliability of the theory. Experimental results show that the bandwidth that our proposed adaptive architecture is 150\% better than DTN architecture. In addition, compare to MANET, the adaptive architecture can effectively transfer data in the high latency and easily interrupted network.

Body-centric wireless networks constitute an attractive next-generation wireless technology representing a cognitive interface to higher-level networks. Recently, the 60 GHz band has been identified as highly promising for body-centric wireless communications including body-area network technologies. A massive deployment of wireless devices equipped with 60 GHz Tx / Rx modules is foreseen in coming years. The corresponding new usages and services will involve near-field interaction of radiating devices with the human body, both in terms of the body impact on wireless device performances as well as in terms of user exposure. This presentation will provide an overview of main features and recent advances in the field of antenna / human body interactions in the 60 GHz band.

Detailed and accurate vehicle-oriented sensor data is considered fundamental for efficient vehicle-to-everything V2X communication applications, especially in the upcoming highly heterogeneous, brisk and agile 5G networking era. Information retrieval, transfer and manipulation in real-time offers a small margin for erratic behavior, regardless of its root cause. This paper presents a method for managing nonuniformities and uncertainties found on datasets, based on an elaborate Matrix Completion technique, with superior performance in three distinct cases of vehicle-related sensor data, collected under real driving conditions. Our approach appears capable of handling sensing and communication irregularities, minimizing at the same time the storage and transmission requirements of Multi-access Edge Computing applications. © 2018 IEEE.

Over the past couple of decades, transportation systems have begun to receive widespread attention from the scientific community and emerged toward Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Effective vehicular connectivity techniques can significantly enhance efficiency of travel, reduce traffic incidents and improve safety, and alleviate the impact of congestion; devising the ITS experience. Furthermore, during the past decades, the volume and density of vehicles increased significantly, especially the road traffic; this lead to a dramatic increase in the number of accidents and congestion, with negative impacts on the economy, environment, and quality of people’s lives. In particular, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), road traffic injuries are estimated to be the leading cause of death for young people aged 15–29 and the ninth cause of death worldwide in 2015. The enabling communication technologies are intended to realize the frameworks that will spur an array of applications and use cases in the domain of road safety, traffic efficiency, and driver’s assistance. Although these applications will allow the dissemination and gathering of useful information among vehicles and between transportation infrastructure and vehicles in pursuance of assisting drivers to travel safely and comfortably, much effort is required to implement these practices for the success of these applications.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are increasingly being envisioned for the collection of data, such as physical or environmental properties. Unlike detection of an event, tracking requires ensuring continuous monitoring. Resource constrained nature of wireless sensor networks makes energy efficient tracking a challenging task. Prediction based approaches try to save energy by reducing an avoidable communication. A Kalman-based approach has been widely used for target tracking but is inaccurate in the case of maneuvering target due to its inability to incorporate nonlinearity. In this paper, dynamic neural network based approaches called Time Delay Neural Network (TDNN) and Nonlinear Autoregressive network with Exogenous inputs (NARX) are proposed for non-cooperative target tracking application. The performance of NARX is compared with Kalman based approach and TDNN in terms of tracking accuracy. Simulation results show that NARX outperforms both Kalman approach and TDNN for target tracking applications. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

This paper investigates spectrum occupancy focusing on TV bands. TV bands have the potential to exploit the available white space in order to improve the spectrum utilization opportunistically. It has been recognized that the white space measurement and analysis is important for the wide deployment of next generation cognitive wireless networks. Researchers have proposed different methods such as dynamic spectrum access for identification of white space. However, these proposed methods have a high computational complexity and are expensive for developing nations, especially in Africa. In order to address the complexity and high cost problem, a Location Aware Spectrum Database (LASD) has been proposed. LASD method is designed to allow reconfigurable TV white space (TVWS) network to provide full capacity and affordable wireless broadband internet connectivity. TVWS is a portion of the spectrum in the VHF/UHF bands which is not utilized based on time and location. This study analyzed the TV bands spectrum occupancy in KwaDlangezwa Township, a rural area in South Africa. The achieved results presented in this paper provide insight into the actual spectrum utilization of the TV bands in KwaDlangezwa as compared to spectrum occupancy studies conducted in rural areas of other countries.

Software-defined radios (SDRs) are often used in the experimental evaluation of next-generation wireless technologies. While crowd-sourced spectrum monitoring is an important component of future spectrum-agile technologies, there is no clear way to test it in the real world, i.e., with hundreds of users each carrying an SDR while uploading data to a cloud-based controller. Current fully functional SDRs are bulky, with components connected via wires, and last at most hours on a single battery charge. To address the needs of such experiments, we design and develop a compact, portable, untethered, and inexpensive SDR we call Sitara. Our SDR interfaces with a mobile device over Bluetooth 5 and can function standalone or as a client to a central command and control server. The Sitara offers true portability: it operates up to one week on battery power, requires no external wired connections and occupies a footprint smaller than a credit card. It transmits and receives common waveforms, uploads IQ samples or processed receiver data through a mobile device to a server for remote processing and performs spectrum sensing functions. Multiple Sitaras form a distributed system capable of conducting experiments in wireless networking and communication in addition to RF monitoring and sensing activities. In this paper, we describe our design, evaluate our solution, present experimental results from multi-sensor deployments and discuss the value of this system in future experimentation.
