The next generation of the Internet of Things is envisioned to include unobtrusive, distributed mm-sized nodes capable of sensing and communicating information about their surroundings. Wake-up receivers (WuRXs) — ultra-low-power receivers that monitor their environment for a wake-up signature — are an important part of this vision, as they can extend the lifetime of a wireless node by keeping it asleep until interrogated. The state of the art in WuRXs, measured in terms of sensitivity and power, has recently been advanced by streamlining the signal path to include fewer power-hungry gain stages and instead obtaining the gain at the chip-antenna interface [1,2]. This has led to excellent power-sensitivity performance, but the accompanying increase in size hampers the applicability of these techniques in size-conscious applications, such as surveillance, asset tracking, and ubiquitous sensing. Moreover, size-reduction methods based on RF antenna miniaturization are fundamentally limited by high antenna Qs at low size-to-wavelength ratios [3]; efficiently matching to these antennas requires, in turn, high-Q passives that are generally unavailable at mm-scale.

Underwater acoustic communication is generally slow when contrasted with radio system. The medium is moderate as well as there are difficulties with the transmission because of signal absorption, multipath delay, channel can shift significantly between various transmitter and receiver pairs. So we should pick modem parameters in view of channel conditions. Oceanographers utilize acoustic signal to control submerged instruments and secure the information they gather remotely. This innovation can likewise be utilized to control anonymous submarines, called self-ruling submerged ocean vehicles (AUV’s) and get information once again from them in real time. There are a few techniques for transmitting information acoustically (i.e. modulation) used in Underwater communication. In this paper we proposed an Adaptive acoustic modem which adopts the suitable modulation technique between Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) and Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) on the basis of channel parameters i.e. Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), Doppler shift, Bit error rate (BER), based on these parameters, the best modulation technique will be selected for communication purpose. The analysis of these parameters is done using MATLAB SIMULINK which is a graphical representation of simulation systems in real time environment. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018.

OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) is a spectrum-efficient digital modulation scheme. It is widely used in various applications involving today's as well as next-generation network (NGN). Despite many benefits, it suffers from the drawback of high PAPR (peak-to-average power ratio) of the transmitted OFDM signal. Channel codes are known to reduce PAPR (Rajasekhar et al. in PAPR reduction performance in OFDM systems using channel coding techniques. International conference, IEEE, pp 1-5, 2014;Tsai et al. in IEEE Trans Wireless Commun 7: 84-89, 2008;Jiang and Wu in IEEE Trans Broadcast 54: 257-268, 2008;Chen and Liang in IEEE Trans Wireless Commun 6: 3524-3528, 2007) [1-4]. In (Rajasekhar et al. in PAPR reduction performance in OFDM systems using channel coding techniques. International conference, IEEE, pp 1-5, 2014) [1], PAPR-reduction performance of OFDM signal using Hamming and cyclic codes was evaluated and compared. BCH codes are widely used in mobile communication networks (Agrawal and Zeng in Introduction to wireless and mobile systems, 2015;Hazan and Ran in Study of indoor LTE green small-cells using mobile front haul architecture over hybrid fiber-wireless channels, IEEE, pp 185-189, 2016) [5, 6]. Objective of this paper is to evaluate PAPR-reduction performance of BCH-coded OFDM signal and compare the same with the case when Hamming and cyclic codes are used. Simulation results are evaluated using MATLAB (R) R2015(a). CCDF versus PAPR curves are plotted and used for comparing the performances of the three channel coding schemes.

Energy consumption is of main concern in the field of next generation Wireless Video sensor networks (WVSN) where energy resources are limited, consisting only in the battery of sensor nodes that determines the node's lifetime. In the current work, Intra-Only H.265/HEVC is considered as video compression encoder deployed on a Raspberry PI 2 Card. Particularly, we propose to manage at run-time the energy consumed for video transmission. Thus, we begin our study by profiling the evolution of this quantity based on two coding parameters, namely the frame rate (FR) and the quantization parameter (QP). Following an analysis of the obtained results, we propose an empirical parametric model in line with the observed behaviors, then validate it with several various video sequences.

In this paper, an effective real-time compression method is proposed to compress the tremendous amount of data generated in continuous spatio-temporal monitoring of power transmission cables with the distributed fiber-optic vibration sensor(DFOVS). The proposed method mainly consists of anomaly detection by statistical methods and Lifting Wavelet Transform(LWT) with an adaptive OTSU threshold. The experiment results for real field data indicate that the average compression ratio of this method can reach 138.9. Therefore the proposed method can effectively solve the challenging problems of real-time storage and transmission for big data acquired from a high density spatio-temporal acquisition grid. Besides, LWT has a higher calculation efficiency than the conventional Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) in real applications. And the data storage time can be obviously saved by using the proposed method on the big data processing platform of HDFS and HBase. The overall compression time is generally less than the massive data generation time in long distance or large range monitoring with DFOVS, thus it can be used for real-time compression of similar applications with moderate sampling rate. © 2018 IEEE.

Wireless body area networks (WBANs) are perceived as an emerging key technology for the next generation ubiquitous healthcare systems. However, the openness and mobility of wireless sensor technologies make the sensor-controller communication vulnerable to be eavesdropped and linked to the sensors in transmission of patient's information. Furthermore, in such resource-constrained environment, authenticating sensor nodes anonymously with the controller node while considering their limited capabilities is a paramount security requirement. In this paper, we propose a lightweight and adaptive anonymous authentication and key agreement scheme for the two-tier WBAN. The proposed protocol enables an anonymous mutual authentication and a session key establishment between the controller node and the body sensor nodes while taking into account the dynamic context changes. From a security perspective, we demonstrate that the proposed key agreement scheme achieves the desired security properties such as anonymity, unlinkability, perfect forward secrecy, etc. Performance analysis proves that the proposed protocol outperforms benchmark schemes in terms of communication and computational overhead.

This extremely motivated work is supported the next generation WSN, given high band-width and low access time anytime, anywhere to transfer which is sensed by the sensors. Further various types of services including multimedia with different levels of close requirement of the location of the speed of the user. They are unable to fulfill all necessities at the same time as cover the signal globally, heterogeneous communication like indoor and outdoor, and handoffs frequently. There are various types of algorithms which are used for searching the route and forwarding packet of the data in the particular means of relay and transmit. We have deployed sensors mainly in two type of mode as Wake up and Sleep. Hence after deploying the sensor, we have to find out the path by multi-hop routing in addition to the awaken sensors. Therefore, we shall be simulating the algorithm of the architecture of NGN in wireless sensor network to enhance the performance of the network in terms of the following features:1. Physical Layer optimized for multi-hop wireless networking 2. Access to medium for entire path (opposing to single hop) 3. Cooperative transport of packets. Self-interference is also one of the challenges of the sensor network which is occurred in successive hops. The problem of dynamism is in that the links failure and catch up with for several times in lesser time and qualities of links are also changed during time. There are many numbers of the parameters which handles transmission rate, transmission power, etc. But the thesis is mainly on focus how to reduce the data transmission time in wireless sensor network.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are the next generation envision and have several applications in military, infrastructure monitoring, healthcare, environment monitoring, manufacturing and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. WSN is basically a collection of sensor nodes that are deployed without infrastructure deployed anywhere, anytime, without administrator and every node works as host and router. sensor nodes are more susceptible to failure because they are deployed in open areas, may be tampered by intruders. Malicious attacks like, Denial of Service (DoS), Sybil attack, Blackhole/Sinkhole attack, Hello Flood attack, Wormhole attacks may modify sensitive information results in performance degradation. The next emerging technology is WSN with IoT, wherein billions of devices are connected with internet and every day millions of new hackers and malicious activities are identified. Hence it has become essential to propose different approaches and different measurements to identify malicious activities and to avoid them is big challenge in WSN. Several researchers have proposed cross layer design to improve QoS by reducing latency and computation overhead. But these proposed ideas have not been standardized in global level networking. So there is a need for designing security models for various devices and conform National Information Security Framework (NISF) policies. One way to detect and identify malicious activities is through analyzing nodes activities pattern in the network. This paper proposes a cross layer and management plane integration approach for detection and prevention of malicious activities in Wireless sensor networks.

sensors are a crucial component of any intelligent control system. Wireless sensor networks are one of the most rapidly developing information technologies and promise to have a variety of applications in next generation networks, Internet of Things and for mission critical and safety relevant applications. Reliability is one of the most important attribute of such systems. In the paper Markov model for reliability analyses of sensor node in wireless sensor networks is proposed. It is shown that reliability of the sensor node depends on the strategy of it monitoring and is unimodal function of test period. For passive part of sensor node, the optimal time for test of functionality is defined. (C) 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
