Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are collection of sensor nodes that unite together to monitor an environment or a system. Due to abundant workload on node near the sink makes faster energy depletion than other nodes. Due to this, lifetime of WSNs to some amount, is resolved by the power consumption between sensor node & sink. Hence, CSMA/SF is used to reduce power consumption for sensing nodes near the sink. CSMA/SF is addition of priority to CSMA. sensor node have strength to sense and send sense data to base station. Clustering is a key technique used to enhance energy consumption in WSNs. This Paper use residual energy of sensor node for selection of Cluster head to gather data from cluster member and ahead data to base station using CSMA/SF Mac protocol to ameliorate lifetime of wireless sensor network using Network Simulator 3.

In recent times Internet of Things (IoT) has gained popularity because of its characteristics in connecting and providing communication among various physical objects and devices enabling collection of diverse data that help making smart and educated decisions which in turn help making human life simple, safe and efficient. Traditional Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are now becoming mainstream data source for IoT applications by connecting to uniquely addressable and routable gateways. Wireless sensor networks are defined as a collection of devices with limited resources like processing, memory, power and bandwidth, deployed for sensing various scalar and multimedia data with diverse traffic types. These data are critical and has to reach the sink in time. The constrained nature of the network with inherent approach of best effort data delivery, not only imposes challenges in reliable transmission of data but also the real time delivery of the data. With increasing use of IoT technology in Smart solutions such as Access control, Real time inventory, Flow optimization, one of the key problems of next generation WSNs is the real-time management and control of network paths within the sensor network so that mission critical data from sensor nodes reaches the IoT Gateway in real-time. In addition, given the myriad type of applications in WSN, imposes the need to segregate and treat data traffic variedly based on the criticality of the application and/or data. Hence there is a need to address the aspects of optimal usage of resources for handling delivery of critical data satisfying its Quality of Service (QoS) requirements within the sensor network. This paper proposes optimal resource reservation mechanism which has resulted in optimal utilization of resources by allocating sufficient resources for prominent and critical data and hence reducing the delay and increasing the performance of the system.

The wide dissemination of Internet around the world changed the way people communicate among them. The evolution of the information and communication technologies (ICT) or artificial intelligence (AI) allowed the creation of new types of services involving electronic devices with huge potential. The emergence of intelligent personal assistants (IPAs) is one of such potential example. Combining the IPA concept with the recent paradigm of Internet of Things (IoT), offers new possibilities and new services to end users, since they could learn more about other entities present in the surrounding environment. This paper proposes a novel mobile gateway solution for a ubiquitous mobile health scenario, in which information gathered from a body sensor network (BSN) is used by an IPA belonging to another person, typically mentioned to as caretaker. The mobile gateway receives real time information related to location, heart rate, and possible falls of the monitored person and acts as a communication channel between the BSN sensors and the IPA platform. Furthermore, the paper presents a performance evaluation study of the proposed mobile IoT-based gateway demonstrating and validating its feasibility.

With over 200 children dying per day due to unsafe water, drinking water crisis is ranked one on the global risk by World Economic Forum, 2015. Of those who face the problem 82% are from rural areas. Despite this, the mobile penetration in these areas is much higher than sanitation and drinking water. This paper focuses on ways to improve the water quality and awareness about the same through a sensor-actuator system which later shifts to sensor-Cloud model. The project proposes different sensor systems. Apart from the embedded design and information dissipation, the project paper also discusses the technical challenges and economic viability model of the system involving Mobile Network Operator and Government.

Smart grid is the next-generation electrical power system for providing reliable, efficient, secure, and cost-effective energy generation, distribution, and consumption. For a smart grid network, communications infrastructure/protocols and wireless networking will play an important role in achieving these objectives. The communication network designing will involves detailed analysis of the communication requirements, appropriate protocol architecture, choice of the most suitable technologies, and a resultant heterogeneous network management system. Smart grid deployment is mainly about defining the necessary standards for ICT solutions. To achieve significant advantages over traditional communication technologies, smart grid also involves its collaboration with wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Recently, WSNs can enhance various aspects of today's electric power systems that include generation, delivery, and utilization. Since communication will be through wireless channel, the security of the network/data is also to be considered. The large scale and autonomous features of a smart grid render its cyber security quite vulnerable to adversaries. This proposed manuscript will present a broader view of the smart grid networks and the various diversified fields that are integrating to create this interdisciplinary research area. This involves the use of wireless sensor networks, communication and routing protocols, various possible architectures for smart grid networks, the potential intelligent attacks, and their countermeasures.

In association with recent advancement in wireless communications as well as penetration of wireless devices with sensing, computation and wireless communication capabilities, the wireless sensor networks have become an important research area due to their potential for providing cheap and flexible solutions to data monitoring and device actuation. And, many studies have analyzed routing effectiveness for wireless multi-hop networks and/or mobile ad-hoc networks under conditions that continuous communication and point-to-point traffic flows between nodes inside the network are assumed. On the other hand, our targeted WSNs for data monitoring have some different assumptions such as traffic patterns on data monitoring, restrictive packet existing periods, and network consisting sensor nodes with constrained capabilities. For evaluation of network stability, not only average loss rates are important, but also distributions are relevant, because high loss rates on temporal wireless links would make impossible to ensure reliable management of the targeted application. So, in order to evaluate stability of those networks, novel evaluation metrics are required. In this paper, we address stability of the WSN for data monitoring, propose a mechanism to improve the equitableness of the routes to the central node as the advanced local route reselection procedure, and evaluate the proposed mechanism by a conditional data delivery ratio with wireless failure.

Nowadays, the Internet of Things is able to provide more advanced services to people, which connects a variety of devices, systems and applications. However, it covers a variety of devices, protocols and applications, which makes it much more complex. In the main application areas, wireless sensor networks with a frequent but short communication character, it requires an efficient and flexible protocol to protect the information. To protect the traffic of the Internet of Things is the focal point of this research work. Although many protocols for the Internet have been put forward, it is still not enough to meet the increasingly complex requirements from applications. Many of them are not efficient enough to adapt the device diversity and timely communication environment. This paper is trying to address this problem, by proposing a peer-to-peer security protocol to satisfy this varied environment. Secure communication is implemented on an open sourced platform for the Internet of Things. Its less handshake in future sessions and dynamic security level adjustment feature satisfies the realistic demand on this platform. Finally, with a comparison test, the result shows that the proposed protocol is efficient to meet the specific goals and applicable for the Internet of Things applications.

Centric Query Processing in Heterogeneous Wireless sensor Network is the new emerging area of wireless sensor network which provides better interaction with physical world in effective and efficient manner. Previous work provides interaction between homogeneous wireless sensor network. In this paper, we have proposed a centric query processing approach which provides effective communication between multiple types of networks. In this approach, there is a central manager which manages the network. It can add or delete the sensor node in the network. It also have database of the networks and provides shared secret key to each sensor node of the network. Each network form the grid and elect a co-ordinator node of the network. we have designed an algorithm for cluster formation and co-ordinator node selection. Co-ordinator node collects data from the sensor node and encrypt it with shared secret key and send it to the central manager, which decrypts it with the help of the respective network shared secret key. A user can send query to the central manager and central manager provide data to the user. This approach also reduces the computation and save the energy. So it is energy efficient and secure query processing approach for heterogeneous wireless sensor network.

Now a days Internet Technology leads to the expansion of new class of network called as Wireless Mesh networks (WMNs). Which contains mesh topology arrange across different district performing various tasks such as data aggregation, communication etc. Energy is very big issue in Wireless Network. So, in this paper we used the Two Hop Clustering based approach which optimizes the energy in Wireless Mesh Network and Result shows the significant improvement in energy.
