Modern advancement in efficient and affordable electronic devices has developed a huge range of applications in the domain of wireless networks. An essential problem addressed in this Wireless sensor network is that the nodes communicate with each other or with base station without any network infrastructure or central administration. They can communicate using wireless channels and can exchange data using multiple hops. For efficient and timely delivery of data or messages, reliable routing protocols are required by these wireless networks for communication. Through this paper, a critical comparative analysis is done on popular routing protocols. The protocols on which analysis is performed are Dynamic Source Routing Protocol (DSR), Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol (AODV) and Destination-Sequenced Distance Vector Routing Protocol (DSDV). These were analyzed depending upon the performance metrics based on Packet loss, Energy Consumed and Average End to End Delay while varying different factor such as number of nodes, simulation time and speed in m/s. The simulator used is NS-2 installed on the Ubuntu (Linux) operating system. Performance evaluation of these three routing protocols have proven that each of three routing protocols can be more optimally and efficiently utilized for specific applications of Wireless sensor Network taking advantage of the respective merits judiciously.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are an emerging field of engineering with various applications. The motivation is due to the low power and small size sensor nodes used in the network. It has started to emerge as the next generation wireless standard for Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area networks (LRWPAN). The IEEE 802.15.4 standard is adopted as a communication protocol for LR-WPAN which supports low data rate, less power consumption and short transmission distance. IEEE 802.15.4 is the basis for the Zigbee enabled WSNs. IEEE and ZigBee alliance have joined hands to develop a complete specification of protocol stack for 802.15.4. The Guaranteed Time Slot (GTS) mechanism provided by IEEE 802.15.4 standard allocates specific time slots to all nodes in the network and makes communication more consistent. This consistency makes the network to enhance their performance. In this paper, the performance analysis of GTS mechanism enabled IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor networks using various routing protocols is done by using QualNet. Performance metrics such as packet delivery ratio, delay and packets dropped of IEEE 802.15.4 based wireless sensor networks are analysed using Location Aided Routing (LAR) protocol. Then the performance metrics are then compared with that of DYnamic MANET On-Demand (DYMO) routing protocol.

The ubiquitous developments of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for data acquisition have migrated significantly over time from traditional data networks to realtime distributed network for sensor data fusion. However, the fractal geometry of sensor distributions and chaotic dynamics of WSNs have questioned the programmability techniques, computational capability, energy-efficiency and fault tolerance, positioning and location management of current frameworks in WSN applications. Thus, this study presents the status quo and visions of the next-generation WSN technologies, the self-similarity in efficient WSNs for topology control, and the observed pattern recognition in acquired data - toward achieving efficient data distribution.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is combination of tiny sensors made up with MEMS technology and has important applications such as target tracking and environmental monitoring. In recent times WSNs becomes more attractive because of their sensing ability, low cost, self-organizing nature in different environments. In this paper we have discussed two existing techniques for data communication such as Normal technique and Distance and Density Based Cluster Selection algorithm (DDCSA) and we find that these two techniques are not optimal enough to save energy in a network. In DDCSA protocols there is a problem of cluster breaking and lot of energy is consumed to reforming clusters. In this paper we enhance the Distance and Density Based Cluster Selection Algorithm (DDCSA) using Geographical Forwarding with Face Routing Technique. Simulation Results shows that our Enhanced DDCSA performs better than DDCSA & Normal technique and gives better results in term of Energy spent, Average delay and Packet delivery ratio.

In next-generation mobile networks (NGWNs), seamless service for users and handoffs between heterogeneous networks must be taken into account. In this paper, we propose a seamless proxy-based handoff scheme using the PMIPv6-based proxy model, which is able to improve the performance of handoffs in sensor-based mobile networks. Our scheme can efficiently support IP-based seamless mobility by reducing the search process. The performance results show that our proposed scheme outperforms the existing schemes in terms of Quality of Service (QoS), including such factors as throughput, handoff latency, packet loss, and signaling overhead.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new concept for telecommunication development. The IoT and things determinations are considering in accordance the ITU-T recommendations. The Ubiquitous sensor Network (USN) is one of the general IoT components. The traffic models for such network are the important field of research presently. The mixed telemetry/image USN behavior in the overload conditions is the investigation goal of this paper. This investigated USN is multi-application network with AODV (Ad Hoc On Demand Distance Vector) signaling protocol. The paper results show that the USN efficiency can reduce in the overload conditions likely the same effect for the PSTN and NGN networks.

A sensor network is defined with normal nodes and critical target nodes. To improve the network lifetime it is required to monitor these target nodes effectively. In traditional algorithm distance analysis based approach is used for target acceptability. In this paper, a zone adaptive distance approach is defined to identify the cover node to track the target. The work is defined in three main stages. In first stage, the zone distance, energy and fault based analysis is performed to identify the cover nodes. In second stages, the cover fault analysis based approach is used to identify the coverset. In third stage, the energy and fault adaptive coverset activation sequence is defined so that effective target tracking will be obtained. The presented work is implemented in matlab environment. The result shows the significant improvement in network life.

Near Field communication technology is an emerging concept in the field of data transfer and is rapidly catching on the market by replacing technologies such as Bluetooth, infrared and other modes of data sharing because of its ease of use and diverse scopes that are available using this technology. The NFC technology basically is a descendant of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, which first showed up in the year 1983. A lot of research is going on in order to make this technology more secure and handy. With the development of wireless capable devices and ubiquitous availability of sensor based internet devices, more and more objects are becoming context-aware. These devices can perceive their surroundings and reason based on the gathered context information. The purpose of this paper is to provide an introduction to NFC technology, their use in enhancing the context aware ambient intelligent systems and to cite the current and future prospects and opportunities in the field. Also, the paper will try to explain the possible uses of this technology in day to day life of people. The paper is structured around the theme that the things have data and ubiquitous web services need to access, learn and interpret this data. NFC provides the technology to connect these two.

Industrial Wireless sensor networks (IWSNs) consist of a central manager, gateways and field devices with sensing, signal processing and wireless communication capabilities. Convergecast is a many-to-one industrial communication paradigm which is used for process measurement and control applications. Convergecast scheduling in IWSNs is to determine the smallest length conflict-free assignment of timeslots during which the packets generated at each node reach the central manager. The transmissions are scheduled based not only on the network topology, but also on the interference graph due to the broadcast nature of wireless transmissions. In this article we present issues on convergecast scheduling. We first outline the design models for convergecast scheduling followed by a comprehensive study of scheduling algorithms. Overall, the convergecast scheduling algorithms are classified based on the network management method into two categories: centralized and distributed scheduling. Furthermore, these scheduling algorithms are classified into raw-data convergecast and aggregated convergecast. Finally these scheduling algorithms are also classified into collision-free scheduling and spatial-reuse scheduling.
