In the research project Ko-TAG, which is part of the research initiative Ko-FAS, cooperative sensor technology is developed and its benefit for traffic safety applications is evaluated. As a result the new sensor concept shall provide essential input data for nextgeneration driver assistant systems. A secondary radar principle based on communication signals enables localization of objects with simultaneous data transmission. It mainly concentrates on pedestrian and other vulnerable road user (VRU) detection, but also allows pre crash safety. This paper describes the elements of the system architecture, as well as the main characteristics of the communication protocols. These are designed to fulfil the functional requirements and to be compatible with existing protocols. With regard to the wireless link, the protocol is designed in such a way that it can be used as an extension to IEEE802.11p/WAVE protocol. With regard to the communication within the vehicle, an extension to the LocON-protocol is propped. The system is implemented in a hardware-software co-design approach.

In this work we present a novel concept for the nextgeneration intelligent wireless sensing application where a universal remote control is implemented to govern different electronic devices inside a room with least effort. The so called Wireless Access to Numerous Destinations (WAND)-Pointer is an electronic device with an integrated inertial and distance measurement unit. The WAND-Pointer identifies the specific target by aiming the pointer in the desired direction. The effort of selecting a specific device by pressing a switch button on a universal remote control is no longer necessary. The WAND-Pointer is an effective solution in scenarios where elderly people have identification problems when forced to handle numerous control devices.

Emerging technology holds tremendous promise for improving recovery following brain injury. Here we describe a home-based rehabilitation system for improving volitional control of hand movement. People with cerebral palsy and those recovering from stroke or traumatic brain injury often have difficulty producing coordinated movements of the hand and arm on one side of the body. Surface electromyography (sEMG) recorded over affected muscles is used to provide enhanced visual feedback via a computer game interface. Several weeks of practice using this system has resulted in improved muscle coordination. Preliminary results are shown from the nextgeneration of this system, which will employ ultra-low power wireless sensors to transmit muscle activity to a home computer.

In order to use the electricity resources even more intelligent, efficient and safer, the concept of intelligent home electricity system was presented. Based on the analysis of the requirement of the intelligent home electricity system, the Home Gateway and SPO (Smart Power Outlet) were designed to integrate the isolated WSN (Wireless sensor Network) and the Internet to achieve communication between different networks. The communication model based on SIP/ZigBee which is the combination of the core protocol of NGN (nextgenerationnetworks) and the technical characteristics of the main communication technology of the WSN was created. SIP extension and two kinds of control algorithms were put forword. The selection of the communication model based on SIP and ZigBee is the first step towards an intelligent home residence.

They have wide variety of applications which include environmental monitoring, structural health monitoring, military surveillance, medical applications, disaster mitigation etc. sensor nodes have various energy constraints, computational constraints and communicational constraints. Considerable research has been focused to overcome these difficulties. One of the major issues in WSNs is developing energy efficient routing protocols. We have proposed a new protocol. The new protocol show improvement over LEACH protocol in many respects especially in life of a sensor node as presented in the simulation and analysis.
