At present, performances of these sensors are high enough to ensure safety operations of trains, but not enough to maintain the stable work of signal devices. Therefore, advanced sensor system is expected. For example, a wireless communication system is desired because it has Small influence to present systems. sensor network is one promising solution. Its function of multi-hop transmitting easily realizes wireless networks. Implanting several sensor devices in a railroad crosstie and setting the crossties under rails, the sensor network automatically form a communication path along the rail, where the resolution of sensing is around a meter and the path is flexible to reform. In addition, the MEMS technology will have large contribution to realize small but high performance sensor devices with low cost. A major drawback of multi-hop communication in ad hoc network is the bandwidth scarcity along the forwarding path of data packet. The main reason for the lack of bandwidth or the exponential reduction in the bandwidth is the contention for bandwidth between nodes along the path. In this paper we will demonstrate one way to overcome this problem through the use of multiple channels multiple interfaces (MCMI). We investigate different forwarding channel selection schemes for MCMI communication with Destination Sequenced Distance Vector protocol: same channel, random and round robin. Based on our analysis and simulation results we have shown that MCMI protocol significantly improves the channel capacity while maintaining low end-to-end delay. Forwarding channel selection policies play an important role in determining the performance of the MCMI. Among the channel assignment policies under study, round robin policy provides the best performance. The results provide a baseline for evaluating bandwidth of multiple channels multiple interfaces networks.

Providing scalable and efficient routing services in underwater sensornetworks (UWSNs) is very challenging due to the unique characteristics of UWSNs. Firstly, UWSNs often employ acoustic channels for communications because radio signals do not work well in water. Compared with radio-frequency channels, acoustic channels feature much lower bandwidths and several orders of magnitudes longer propagation delays. Secondly, UWSNs usually have very dynamic topology as sensors move passively with water currents. Some routing protocols have been proposed to address the challenging problem in UWSNs. However, most of them assume that the full-dimensional location information of all sensor nodes in a network is known in prior through a localization process, which is yet another challenging issue to be solved in UWSNs. In this paper, we propose a depth-based routing (DBR) protocol. DBR does not require full-dimensional location information of sensor nodes. Instead, it needs only local depth information, which can be easily obtained with an inexpensive depth sensor that can be equipped in every underwater sensor node. A key advantage of our protocol is that it can handle network dynamics efficiently without the assistance of a localization service. Moreover, our routing protocol can take advantage of a multiple-sink underwater sensor network architecture without introducing extra cost. We conduct extensive simulations. The results show that DBR can achieve very high packet delivery ratios (at least 95%) for dense networks with only small communication cost.

Ubiquitous sensornetworks (USN) technology is one of the essential key for driving the nextgeneration Network (NGN) to realize secure and easy access,from. anyone, any thing, anywhere and anytime. The location information is one of the most important and frequently-used contexts in ubiquitous networking. However, a system can use the changes of location to adapt its behavior such. as computation and communication, without the user intervention. In this paper we introduce a Bayesian sensor framework for solving the location estimation errors problem, in Radio Frequency identification (RFID) environments. In our model the physical properties of the signal propagation are not taken into account directly. Instead, the location estimation is regarded as machine learning problem in which the task is to model how the location estimation error is distributed indoors based on a sample of measurements collected at several known locations and stored in RFID tags. Results obtained by simulations demonstrate the suitability of the proposed model to provide high performance level in terms of accuracy and scalability.

Internet-based vehicular ad hoc network (IVANET) is an emerging technique that combines a wired Internet and a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET)for developing a nextgeneration of ubiquitous communication infrastructure and improving universal information and service accessibility A key optimization technique in IVANETs is to cache frequently accessed data items in a local storage of vehicles. Since vehicles are not critically limited by the storage space, it is a less of a problem which data items to cache. Rather a critical design issue is how to invalidate them when data items are updated. This is particularly a concern due to vehicles' high-speed mobility In this paper, we propose a novel cache invalidation algorithm that takes advantage of the underlying location management scheme to reduce the number of broadcast operations and the corresponding query delay. Numerical results indicate that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the communication cost, and thus is proven to be a viable solution for IVANETs.
