nextgeneration wireless networks require guaranteed Quality of Service (QoS). The proposed Dynamic Call Admission Control (DCAC) architecture provides the guaranteed quality of service for real-time and non-real time traffic. DCAC architecture supports future generation wireless networks because it implements a traffic based on different type of call (ToC) with admission control. The bandwidth provisioning model provides bandwidth reallocation and reservation for different ToC. The proposed architecture tries to accomplish the minimum call blocking and handoff dropping rates based on the capacity of the neighboring base stations, current base station and ToC. The system is expected to achieve the required QoS requirements in terms of handoff call dropping probability and new call blocking probability while maintaining efficient bandwidth utilization. The minimal required bandwidth is assigned during the lifetime of high priority calls.

The nextgeneration global mobile communications calls the research and development of the satellite constellation networks. But protocol simulation of satellite networks is hard to realize due to the difficulty, of satellite networks modeling. Currently most protocol simulation systems can't support satellite constellation network fully. To improve the dependability and availability, we propose a novel idea of protocol simulation platform for satellite networks. The protocol simulation platform can support satellite constellation modeling and network protocol simulation. Also the platform is not restricted to any communication protocol or connection mode. The architecture of the platform and its implementation framework are investigated in this paper. The framework provides the implementation details of the modules in the architecture. In addition, an integrated workflow for the platform is illuminated to comprehend the architecture clearly.

In contrast to the traditional wireless sensor network (WSN) applications that perform only data collection and aggregation, new generation of information processing applications, such as pursuit-evasion games, tracking, evacuation, and disaster relief applications, require in-network information storage and querying. Due to the resource limitations of WSNs, it is challenging to implement in-network information storage and querying in a resilient, energy-efficient, and distributed manner. To address these challenges, we exploit location information and geometry of the network and present an in-network querying infrastructure, namely distributed quad-tree (DQT) structure. DQT satisfies efficient in-network information storage as well as distance-sensitive querying: the cost of answering a query for an event is at most a constant factor (in our case 2 root 2) of the distance "d" to the nearest event in the network DQT construction is local and does not require any communication. Moreover, due to its minimalist infrastructure and stateless nature, DQT shows graceful resilience to the face of failures.

Cooperation in wireless networks will facilitate a new dimension in the evolution of multimedia communications, setting out from the today's situation with a multitude of communication standards and radio interfaces both in the licensed and the unlicensed domain. In order to pave the way towards cooperative networks, the deployment of cognitive wireless solutions, which will form the communication platforms, will be a key asset. In the future, we expect to see an increasingly flexible, ad-hoc utilization of the available spectrum in the unlicensed domain and a co-existence of communication standards in the licensed bands. In this communication, the authors will illustrate a platform based approach towards cognitive wireless communications. Also, the authors will present three software defined radio concepts designed by the members of the Lehrstuhl fur KommunikationsTechnik, namely the HAWK (Highly Adaptable Wireless Kit), the FALCON (Flexible Access Logic for communicationnetworks), and the MUSTANG (MUlti-STAndard single chip transceiver for the nextgeneration), finally, giving an outlook on their wireless optical communication device, termed ARGOS. HAWK, FALCON, MUSTANG and ARGOS form the basis of the cognitive wireless platform, developed by the authors, termed PROMETHEUS. The setup of PROMETHEUS and its functionality shall be illustrated together with selected measurement results.

We propose an adaptive clustering algorithm with power control, A CA-PC, that chooses adaptive clusters and controls transmission power levels in order to minimize the total energy consumption of the sensornetworks and maximize the amount of transmission data Our core concepts are zone division and dynamic power control. A sensor network is divided into n zones based on geographical information. A large number of nodes bring about collision of data transmission. According to node density, a zone can be divided into two sub-zones or merged with other zone. The close neighbor nodes are grouped by a cluster in its zone. Therefore, we control the transmission power level of the common nodes in the same cluster to avoid collision with other clusters. Using network simulator (NS-2), we verify that ACA-PC can conserve the energy of sensors and prolong the lifetime of sensornetworks better than other proposed algorithms.

In this paper we study information diffusion in a mobile encounter network, where information is transferred from a mobile device to another during device encounters using short-range radio communication. The feasibility of application use and the outlines of potential applications are given. A simulation model for evaluating the network performance is described. The simulation results suggest that the logistic function may be used to model the diffusion when there are no high requirements for model accuracy.
