In recent years, digital archaeology, as a new field of archaeological research, is accelerating the innovative combination of digital technology and archaeology and providing unprecedented opportunities for archaeological research. However, the current digital archaeology also faces some shortcomings, such as high technical threshold, complicated operation and low technical application. In this regard, this paper will start with the archaeological field investigation, analyze the application of three-dimensional image reconstruction technology in the archaeological field, and on this basis, develop a visual display system with the help of virtual reality technology, providing archaeologists with a brand-new research tool. Practice has proved that with the aid of Agisoft Photoscan 3D reconstruction software, the collected multi-angle images and photos of archaeological remains can be transformed into a real 3D model. Then, a virtual display system is developed based on Unity3D to complete the high-precision reproduction of archaeological remains, cultural relics and models. The whole process intuitively reflects the practical effect of virtual reality three-dimensional image reconstruction technology in the field of archaeology, and provides some technical reference for the later protection and presentation of cultural relics. © 2024 SPIE.

Hybrid transformer-based segmentation methods have proven to be highly effective in analyzing medical images. However, they often demand significant computational resources for training and inference, which can be challenging for resource-scarce medical settings. In response, a novel framework named Condensed UNETR is introduced, which strikes a balance between precision and efficiency by combining the strengths of convolutional neural networks and transformers. The Condensed UNETR Block, a key element of this approach, facilitates efficient information flow through a self-attention mechanism decomposition and streamlined representation merging. The framework also incorporates the throughput metric as a measure of efficiency to monitor the model's resource usage. Experiments have shown that Condensed UNETR surpasses leading models in accuracy, size, and efficiency on devices with limited resources. © 2024 SPIE.

With the rapid development of science and technology, Virtual Reality (VR) technology based on image processing shows great potential and innovation in the field of interior design. The purpose of this paper is to explore the application of VR technology based on image processing in interior design system and analyze its potential impact on interior design field. Through the in-depth study of real-time rendering, dynamic layout adjustment, virtual and real space integration and other functions, we show the outstanding achievements of this technology in improving design efficiency, optimizing user experience and promoting design innovation. In the aspect of technological innovation, this paper emphasizes the influence of the continuous progress of image processing technology on the real-time rendering of interior design system. Through an example, we show that users can perceive the design effect in real time in the virtual environment and realize a more intuitive and immersive design experience. In addition, through dynamic layout adjustment, users can modify the indoor layout in real time through gesture recognition technology, thus participating in the design process more flexibly. The integration of virtual and real space is another key research point, and the deep integration of virtual furniture and design elements with real space is realized through VR technology. This enables users to personally experience the design effect in the actual environment and provides designers and customers with more realistic visual feedback. The research of VR technology based on image processing in interior design system not only provides technical innovation, but also brings more efficient, smarter and more interactive design experience to the interior design field, injecting new impetus into digital transformation and intelligent development. © COPYRIGHT 2024 SPIE. The integration of deep learning methodologies within the realm of digital watermarking has assumed a pivotal role in safeguarding the intellectual property rights associated with images within contemporary contexts. By leveraging an end-to-end architecture comprising noise layers and codec components, the resilience of watermarks across diverse environmental conditions is upheld. To augment the fidelity and perceptibility of watermark representations, a dual encryption paradigm is embraced, integrating a dual attention framework alongside a Least Significant Bit (LSB) processing module. This encoding scheme amalgamates both spatial and channel attention mechanisms, thereby fortifying the resilience of the model. The channel attention mechanism enables precise embedding of watermarks within critical image channels, while the spatial attention mechanism facilitates seamless integration within intricate textural regions. Furthermore, the LSB method is employed for secondary encryption of image data, ensuring both concealment and robustness of the watermarking technique. © 2024 SPIE.

The aim of this research is to explore methods for building architectural virtual scenes based on image processing techniques to meet the needs of the fields of architectural design, visualization and simulation. With the rapid development of digital technologies, the creation of architectural virtual scenes has become increasingly important as they provide a real-time, immersive way to present and evaluate architectural projects. Firstly, this study discusses the fundamentals of architectural virtual scenes, including the creation of virtual building models, the capture and fusion of real scenes, and the implementation of user interaction. Through image processing techniques, real architectural environments can be combined with virtual architectural elements to provide users with a highly realistic visual experience. Secondly, the study covers the application of image processing methods that help to process real scene images to make them suitable for embedding and interacting with virtual architectural models. This study highlights the potential of architectural virtual scenes for application in architectural design and visualization. With virtual scenes, architects and designers can make real-time design and layout adjustments, while all aspects of the architectural project can be visualized, including the exterior, structural and interior design. Finally, this study summarizes the importance of image processing in the construction of architectural virtual scenes, while exploring future research directions such as the development of augmented reality technology, improvements in virtual-reality fusion and user interactivity. Research in these areas will continue to drive innovation in architectural virtual scenes, providing more possibilities and flexibility in the field of architecture. © COPYRIGHT 2024 SPIE. Phase-based optical flow (PBOF) is a growing discipline in vibration extraction methods. Based on camera data, PBOF uses image gradients and image-pair differences to extract motion from video. Commonly, this technique is combined with the more ubiquitous digital image correlation, due in part to the restriction of PBOF to small, sub-pixel vibrations. In this chapter, work was done to delve deeper into the nominal upper bound and determine its relation to the chosen image-pair processing style. In particular, the upper bound was evaluated with respect to static (current frame-to-reference), dynamic (current frame-to-previous frame), and hybrid dynamic-static processing styles. Results include advantages of standard static and dynamic processing styles, leading to the presentation of the so-called region of goodness associated with the hybrid processing style. Discussion follows for how the hybrid processing style can be used for large-motion handling in simple structures, as well as modifications required for those that are heavily textured. The hybrid processing style is shown to extend the upper bound to the number of pixels between parallel edges within the structure, increasing the efficacy of PBOF to larger stationary vibrations. © 2024, The Society for Experimental Mechanics, Inc.

The technology for non-contact vibration measurement using video recorded by cameras has rapidly developed in recent years, however, existing methods are unable to effectively handle unstable video sources. This paper proposes a phase vibration measurement algorithm based on digital image stabilization, which employs the Kanade–Lucas–Tomasi feature tracking method to track feature points in the input video and derive affine transformation matrices between adjacent frames. Additionally, it utilizes the random sample consensus algorithm to eliminate outliers and smooth motion trajectories, applies the Hilbert transform to extract the global phase information of the stabilized video, uses the amplitude information to weight the phase information, and designs an adaptive filter to remove noise. Numerical simulations and experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method. © 2024 SPIE.

This paper aims to improve the efficiency of remote sensing image processing. The reflectance retrieval module developed based on IDL language uses the images obtained by the new DMCIII digital aerial survey instrument, introduces the parameters of the DMCIII camera and various modules of the whole process of multi-thread processing, and analyzes the accuracy by combining the field data collected. It proves the operability and practicability of multithreaded processing in the whole process. © 2024 SPIE.

As machine learning continues to improve the performance of image compression, there is a high demand for deep learning-based image compression algorithms. The first generation of deep learning-based image compression standard, JPEG AI, has emerged. Compared to the linear transform methods in traditional compression frameworks, deep learning-based image compression codecs use non-linear transform to extract visual features ranging from low to high levels in a large number of training samples, thereby achieving much higher compression performance. JPEG AI aims to explore image encoding methods that are more efficient than existing image codecs. In the JPEG AI official verification model, the Content Adaptive Inter-Channel Correlation Information (ICCI) subnetwork is used to reconstruct compressed images to achieve higher quality, but the complexity and parameter number of this subnetwork are relatively high. To solve this problem, we propose a simplified ICCI (sICCI) based on the Y, U, and V components. Compared to the standard ICCI module in JPEG AI and its lightweight version eICCI, our proposed sICCI significantly reduces network complexity and model parameters while keeping competitive image reconstruction quality. © 2024 SPIE.

Privacy and security of multimedia data such as images has been an important concern particularly after the extensive use of digital devices in people's daily life. Therefore, more and more researchers put their attention on investigating new secure image encryption algorithms. However, many of the existing encryption methods contain the issues of computational overhead, substantial time complexity or low resistance to cryptanalytic attacks. To address these issues, we propose a new encryption algorithm strategically constructing a 3D array from pixel array of the plaintext image and utilizing the chaotic logistic map, the AES substitution box, and linear mixing. Performance of the proposed scheme is validated through analyzing the information entropy, histogram, correlation coefficients between adjacent pixels and mean squared errors of ciphertext images. The results exhibited superior randomness and unpredictability of the encrypted image. Besides, the algorithm manifested strong resistance against the differential attacks. © 2024 SPIE.
