We demonstrate a real-time display of processed OCT images using multi-thread parallel computing with a quad-core CPU of a personal computer. The data of each A-line are treated as one vector to maximize the data translation rate between the cores of the CPU and RAM stored image data. A display rate of 29.9 frames/sec for processed OCT data (4096 FFT-size x 500 A-scans) is achieved in our system using a wavelength swept source with 52-kHz swept frequency. The data processing times of the OCT image and a Doppler OCT image with a 4-time average are 23.8 msec and 91.4 msec.

A large number of PIV algorithms and systems have been proposed, many of which are highly sophisticated in terms of accuracy and spatial and temporal resolution. However, a general problem with PIV is the time cost to compute vector fields from images, which often imposes specific constraints on the measurement methods. In this paper, focusing on recursive direct cross-correlation PIV with window deformation, which is one of the most popular algorithms for PIV we propose a technique to accelerate PIV processing using a single Graphics processing Unit(single-GPU) and multiple GPUs(multi-GPU). In the case of using single-GPU, we show that PIV data can be processed over 100 times faster than using a CPU alone and about 30 PIV image pairs per second can be processed for certain image sizes. The scalability of the algorithm used is also discussed In the case of using multi-GPU, the image split method and the parallel method of single-GPU-based PIV processing are measured We show that the effect of multi-GPU can be observed over a certain amount of image data whether either of these two methods is used Data transfer between CPU and GPUs is shown to be a bottleneck if the number of GPUs used increase.

The high-performance scalable parallel algorithm for rigorous calculation of partition function of lattice systems with finite number Ising spins was developed. The parallel calculations run by C++ code with using of Message Passing Interface and massive parallel instructions. The algorithm can be used for the research of the interacting spin systems in the Ising models of 2D and 3D. The processing power and scalability is analyzed for different parallel and distributed systems. Different methods of the speed up measuring allow obtain the super-linear speeding up for the small number of processes. Program code could be useful also for research by exact method of different Ising spin systems, e.g. system with competition interactions.

This paper presents a distributed joint source-channel 3D video coding system. Our aim is the design of an efficient coding scheme for stereoscopic video communication over noisy channels that preserves the perceived visual quality while guaranteeing a low computational complexity. The drawback in using stereo sequences is the increased amount of data to be transmitted. Several methods are being used in the literature for encoding stereoscopic video. A significantly different approach respect to traditional video coding has been represented by distributed Video Coding (DVC), which introduces a flexible architecture with the design of low complex video encoders. In this paper we propose a novel method for joint source-channel coding in a distributed approach. We choose turbo code for our application and study the new setting of distributed joint source channel coding of a video. Turbo code allows to send the minimum amount of data while guaranteeing near channel capacity error correcting performance. In this contribution, the mathematical framework will be fully detailed and tradeoff among redundancy and perceived quality and quality of experience will be analyzed with the aid of numerical experiments.

The latest developments in optical imageprocessing for security, compression and cryptography require parallel real time processing and multiplexing. In this paper, we propose the application of the well-know "coherence modulation of light" technique for real-time encoding and decoding of signals which can be useful for optical imageprocessing. This method uses the coherence properties of broadband sources for encoding signals onto light beams. One major asset of this approach, compared to other conventional optical modulation methods, is an original multiplex coding of several signals through a single light beam. We achieve simultaneous real-time all optical imageprocessing of analog two-dimensional signals and suggest a set of new criteria, based on mean square error, signal to noise ratio and peak to peak signal to noise, to improve the quality of the decoding image as function of the optical path difference and the coherence length of the source.
