Low-light image enhancement aims to recover normal-light images from the images captured under very dim environments. While deep learning-based methods have achieved substantial success in this field, most of them require paired training data, which is difficult to be collected. We propose an Unsupervised Dual Contrastive Learning Transformer (UDCL-Transformer) where the unsupervised contrastive learning is for the first time introduced to the low light image enhancement task. From a different yet new perspective, we explore contrastive learning with an adversarial training effort to leverage unpaired low-light images and normal-light images. Our proposed method leveraged dual contrastive learning and generative adversarial networks to restore low light image. Patch-wise contrastive learning maximizes the mutual information between raw and restored images. Pixel-wise contrastive learning encourages the restored images to approach the positive samples and keep away from the negative samples in the embedding space. Generator based on parallel Convolution Transformer (PC-Former) is proposed to capture the rich features of global and local context for better aggregate information. Extensive experiments with comparisons to recent approaches further demonstrate the superiority of our proposed method. © 2022. The copyright of this document resides with its authors. Binary neural network (BNN) is widely used in speech recognition, image processing and other fields to save memory and speed up computing. However, the accuracy of the existing binarization scheme in the realistic dataset is obviously low, and the input layer uses 32-bit floating point to avoid excessive precision loss, which requires additional computing units and increases the computational burden. Therefore, it is very important to improve the input layer, save computing resources and reduce precision loss. In this paper, we propose a parallel convolution binary neural network accelerator architecture (PC-BNA). Based on our proposed BNN model, we design an efficient field programmable gate array (FPGA) based accelerator. The input of the first layer is binarized, the traditional binary convolution layer is replaced by a parallel binary convolution, and the network building blocks are improved. The experimental results show that the proposed PC-BNA has higher accuracy and better performance on CIFAR-10. The image recognition accuracy is as high as 91.4%, which is superior to the state-of-art of the BNN accelerator. Compared to the state-of-the-art BNN model, when using the same model size, the use of look-up-table (LUT) saves 9.08%, and the digital signal processor (DSP) saves 27.7%. The results suggest that it is promising for PC-BNA in future high performance mobile artificial intelligence applications. © 2022 IEEE.

At present, a large amount of video data has been generated at an amazing speed through social media, industrial Internet and high-tech visual devices. When videos are retrieved, since the traditional video retrieval method often requires a lot of execution time, and takes a little account of the multi-source heterogeneous characteristics of videos, it is difficult to fully meet the needs of people's daily life. Therefore, it is necessary to study a retrieval method for video big data to address the above issues. At present, there are few studies on video big data retrieval methods. The existing studies have an issue that the retrieval efficiency of video big data is low due to the sorting of all data nodes in the shuffle stage. To address this issue, this paper proposes a parallel top-N video big data retrieval method based on multi-features. First, the low-level and high-level semantic features of each video are extracted distributed. Second, a local sensitive hashing algorithm is introduced to partition and compress the video features to improve the efficiency of similarity matching for video data. Finally, a parallel top-N algorithm is constructed to quickly sort and summarize the similarity matching results of videos, so as to detect the approximate video data in the video big data. In this paper, experiments are carried out on Stanford I2V dataset. The results show that compared with the existing methods, the proposed method can effectively improve the efficiency of video big data retrieval while ensuring the accuracy of video big data retrieval. © 2022 IEEE.

To apply the advantages of deep learning in 2D image recognition to the fault diagnosis of three-phase inverters, this paper proposes a parallel Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model based on short-time Fourier transform (STFT) and Gramian Angular Difference Field (GADF) images. Firstly, the one-dimensional voltage signal output by the inverter is converted into a two-dimensional image using STFT and GADF methods. Then, the transformed image data is input into the dual-channel parallel CNN model, where convolution and pooling operations are carried out in the two CNN branches to extract multi-level features of the fault signal. Finally, through feature fusion and fully connected layers, effective classification and diagnosis of inverter open-circuit faults are achieved. Experimental results show that the classification accuracy of the proposed method exceeds 97% under different noise levels. Compared to other methods, the proposed approach demonstrates significant advantages in accuracy and reliability, with strong anti-interference ability and robustness when processing noisy data.

Free-Space Optical (FSO) communication is a promising solution for high-speed data transmission, yet its performance can be significantly affected by atmospheric conditions. This study investigates the impact of Return to Zero-Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (RZ-DQPSK) modulation generation methods on FSO link performance under turbulent environments. Two distinct RZ-QDPSK transmitter schemes, one employing a serial configuration and the other utilizing a parallel configuration, are rigorously analyzed. Through the simulations under OptiSystem 14, the performance of these transmitters has been assessed, providing insights into their efficacy and suitability in challenging FSO scenarios. The study demonstrates the superiority of the parallel configuration in maintaining lower Bit Error Rates (BER) ensuring resilient communication and extending the operational range of the system. The findings underscore the significance of strategic modulation scheme selection for optimizing FSO system performance in challenging environmental conditions.

In the field of digital image processing, the image data are required to operate for some enhancement operations such as image filtering, image restoration, image transformation, and so on. The memory allocation of image data is presented in an array and executed by two-dimensional matrix-matrix multiplication. The convolution operation is an essential operation among many filtering algorithms (e.g. Gaussian filter). In this paper, the characteristics of different convolution methods have been examined, and the important role of convolution and advanced parallel version of 2D convolution to improve the performance and instructions per clock cycle on a multi-core architecture by using AVX and OpenMP. Generally, convolution is performed by sliding the kernel over the image and moving the left side direction of the kernel through all data of the input matrix until all values of the image have been calculated. This paper intends to utilize and analyze how 1D, 2D, and 3D convolutions work in image processing and the parallel versions of 1D and 2D convolutions using padding on CPUs are proposed.

Recent state-of-the-art Learned image Compression methods feature spatial context models, achieving great rate-distortion improvements over hyperprior methods. However, the autoregressive context model requires serial decoding, limiting run-time performance. The Checkerboard context model allows parallel decoding at a cost of reduced RD performance. We present a series of multistage spatial context models allowing both fast decoding and better RD performance. We split the latent space into square patches and decode serially within each patch while different patches are decoded in parallel. The proposed method features a comparable decoding speed to Checkerboard while reaching the RD performance of Autoregressive and even also outperforming Autoregressive. Inside each patch, the decoding order must be carefully decided as a bad order negatively impacts performance; therefore, we also propose a decoding order optimization algorithm.

In airfoil numerical simulation, the mesh quality has an important influence on the accuracy and error of numerical simulation. The existing mesh quality evaluation requires a lot of manual interaction, which greatly reduces the efficiency of mesh generation and necessitates the implementation of intelligent mesh evaluation methods. Graph neural networks can extract features from graph data, possess self-adaptability and generalization ability, and have been successfully applied in many industries. In this paper, we propose a deep graph neural network, SDeepNet, to evaluate mesh quality and construct a large-scale mixed mesh dataset, MixSet, for training and validating the model. We test and compare the performance of the mesh quality evaluation models GridNet, GMeshNet, and SDeepNet on the mesh dataset MixSet. The experimental results show that the SDeepNet model can achieve high accuracy and recall in the mixed mesh quality evaluation task. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.

With the rapid development of electronic information technology, data security issues are becoming increasingly serious. Traditional single cryptographic algorithms cannot meet the increasing demands of security and computational speed. In order to solve the problem of fast and secure transmission of large amounts of data by embedded devices, this paper proposes an improved hybrid encryption algorithm based on national encryption algorithms such as SM2 and SM4. In the implementation methods of algorithms in embedded devices, software hardware collaborative design balances software flexibility and hardware parallelism, which also improves system security and reduces development and maintenance costs. Therefore, this article uses software hardware collaborative design methods to implement hybrid encryption algorithms. In addition, this article also optimizes the hardware of SM2 point multiplication, which can be used in devices with limited hardware resources. The experimental results show that under a 16MHz clock and using the elliptic curve recommended by SM2 on GF (2 257 ), the encryption speed is 4.04ms/time, the decryption speed is 2.96ms/time, and the number of point multiplication is 1685 times per second on Xilinx DDR200T FPGA.

Cloud-edge collaborative computing paradigm is a promising solution to high-resolution video analytics systems. The key lies in reducing redundant data and managing fluctuating inference workloads effectively. Previous work has focused on extracting regions of interest (RoIs) from videos and transmitting them to the cloud for processing. However, a naive Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) resource configuration falls short in handling highly fluctuating workloads, leading to violations of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and inefficient resource utilization. Besides, these methods neglect the potential benefits of RoIs batching to leverage parallel processing. In this work, we introduce Tangram, an efficient serverless cloud-edge video analytics system fully optimized for both communication and computation. Tangram adaptively aligns the RoIs into patches and transmits them to the scheduler in the cloud. The system employs a unique “stitching” method to batch the patches with various sizes from the edge cameras. Additionally, we develop an online SLO-aware batching algorithm that judiciously determines the optimal invoking time of the serverless function. Experiments on our prototype reveal that Tangram can reduce bandwidth consumption and computation cost up to 74.30 % and 66.35 %, respectively, while maintaining SLO violations within 5 % and the accuracy loss negligible.
