For the last vicennial, scientists have been focusing attention on mitigating the risks of environmental contamination brought on by the manufacturing of industrial waste and cementitious materials. Finding efficient waste to effectively incorporate into concrete production is the most feasible approach. Incinerated ash, an industrial by-product, offers unique qualities and long-term advantages that make it suitable as a building material. As a result, the characteristics of waste material are thoroughly covered in this paper to assess how effective it is as filler or cement substitute in concrete. This study examines the impact of replacing silica fume in concrete with incinerated ash on the material's strength and penetration capabilities. To achieve this, four concrete mixes containing four different percentages of silica fume (6, 8, 10, and 20%) and incinerated ash (4, 6, 8, and 10%) were prepared, along with a control concrete mix. It was noted that the control-mix concrete was easier to work than the waste-mix concrete. These investigations verified that 4% incinerated ash replacement combined with 8% silica fume results in improved mechanical properties and elevated pozzolanic reactivity. In the meanwhile, further study is required, particularly in the area of durability details, to assess the comprehensive performance of concrete made from industrial and incinerated ash. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

The pandemic disease COVId-19, originated from the SARS-CoV-2 virus has spread globally. researchers are working tirelessly on areas including studying the transmission of COVId-19, promoting its identification, designing new vaccines and therapies, and recognizing its socio-economic consequences. This extensive research leads to the exploration of thousands of scientific papers related to biology, chemistry, genetics, health, and economy. Therefore, it is essential to develop an intelligent text mining technique for segregating this rich source of data to perform easy access, information retrieval, and interpretation within minimum time and resources. We propose a multi-objective optimization-based document clustering approach for the CORd-19 (COVId-19 Open research dataset) dataset in this paper. Here, a new technique utilizing BioBERT has been proposed, which benefits from the abstract and the document text, rather than only the brief abstract, to perceive a concise understanding of the text to generate clusters with better definitions. The main contributions of the proposed work are two-fold: in the first step, we have used BioBERT to generate the sentence embedding which is further used for the document representation. In the next step, we have developed a multi-objective optimization (MOO) based clustering algorithm for grouping the generated document vector representations. In this MOO-based clustering, we have used Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II and Fuzzy c-means algorithm as the underlying MOO and clustering technique, respectively. This model is evaluated using the Silhouette Score (Silhouette score) and Calinski-Harabasz index (CH index), and the clustering solutions are visualized using word clouds. The clustering results exhibit significant improvements over various other existing clustering models.

A free-electron-driven terahertz vortex Smith-Purcell radiation (SPR) source based on spoof surface plasmon polaritons (SSPPs) carrying orbital angular momentum (OAM) is proposed in this paper. The OAM-SSPPs exposed to the fast wave region are formed by periodically imposing the depth modulation on a double-slot helical grating, which results from the Brillouin-folding phenomenon. When a ring-shaped electron beam flies over the surface of the grating, the SSPPs will be excited and radiated into free space straightforward, thereby generating coherent vortex SPR at the frequency of SSPPs. The forming process of radiative SSPPs through Brillouin-folding is analyzed, and the spectrum of the coherent vortex SPR waves demonstrates the field enhancement effect of SSPPs. The proposed SSPPs-assisted coherent THz vortex SPR scheme is also generalizable to microwave and infrared frequencies and inspires novel vortex sources with enhanced power and tunable TCs. © 2021 IET conference Proceedings. In this paper, a new electron optical design scheme of silicon tip field emission cathode electron gun is proposed based on the Pierce electron gun and Einzel lens design theory. The simulation optimization study is carried out by using Computer Simulation Software (CST). The results show that when the normal angle between the edge of the focusing electrode and the cathode plane is 42.0°, the Einzel lens focusing voltage is 144 V, an electron beam spot size of 8 nm can be obtained. It has potential applications in the field of high-resolution electron beam lithography and electron microscopy.

This work describes the design of a low-power low-jitter, analog front-end for timing-pixel radiations sensors. The circuit will provide the input stage fur the front-end ASIC proposed for the TimeSpOT project that will he manufactured in a commercial 28 um CMOS process. This front-end is designed to be part of 4d tracking detectors for future high data rate high energy physics experiments. This research aims at realizing 55 mu m x 55 mu m pixels with sub 100 ps resolution within less then 10 mu W power consumption.

Gallium nitride (GaN) based LEds are a promising technology for microdisplays thanks to the brightness they can provide. However, they have not been widely adopted for this type of applications yet, partly due to the size and complexity of the associated driver circuits. In this paper, we demonstrate that despite the complexity of the driver circuits, a very small pixel pitch can be achieved thanks to CMOS 3d technology.

Stabilizing the common-mode in fully-differential amplifiers is a well-known challenge. Conventional approaches usually are not able to deal with output nodes that have both: a high impedance and a high voltage swing. In this work, we implement a common-mode feedback architecture that was previously proposed in [2] but not yet realized. A two-stage fully-differential operational amplifier in a 0.25 mu m CMOS technology is used to demonstrate the feasibility of the new architecture. Measurements of the overall amplifier verify that the studied common-mode feedback is indeed a good candidate for opamps with high output impedance and rail-to-rail swing.

In this paper, we present the design and experiment of a semi-automatic device for sheet beam traveling wave tube (TWT) electron gun cathode and focusing electrode assembly, which include cathode positioning module, focusing electrode positioning module, concentricity adjustment and clamping module, angle adjustment module, auxiliary support structure and automatic geometric measurement module. Using this device, it only takes 20 minutes to adjust the concentricity of the cathode and the focusing electrode to 30 microns and the angle to 0.5 degrees. In the subsequent welding process, the whole device remains clamped, the welding deformation can be limited to 10 microns. This device applied to the following W band TWT manufacturing, with rectangular waveguide grating slow wave structure (SWS), using a 32 kV, 550 mA electron beam, the measured peak power is over 2 kilowatts and the average output power is over 100 watts with 5% duty cycle at the frequency around 91.5 - 96 GHz. The results of the above sheet beam TWT test will be detailed in a subsequent manuscript. © 2021 IET conference Proceedings. All rights reserved.

Understanding the mechanical behavior of free standing membranes is a point of common interest for MEMS structures, where a certain distance or deflection of a cantilever or membrane refers directly to the detectors performance. A material system with different types of basic MEMS materials like doped silicon as well as a conducting and passivation layer was characterized. Mechanical stress was measured directly after deposition and at the freestanding membranes itself. It is found out, that the mechanical stress of the investigated material systems decreases up to two orders of magnitude due to relaxation between material deposition and releasing membranes from substrate.

To further optimize micro pellistors and reduce the required chip area, one possibility is to fabricate the sensor on top of the integrated circuit (IC). Therefore, a sacrificial layer process developed by the Fraunhofer IMS combining deep reactive ion etching (dRIE) and atomic layer deposition (ALd) is modified. First fundamentals of pellistors and Joule heating are described. Then simulations to determine ideal heater shapes are presented and an approach for a process to fabricate pellistors on top of an IC is introduced.
