Quantum algorithms promise quadratic or exponential speedups for applications in cryptography, chemistry and material sciences. The topologies of today's quantum computers offer limited connectivity, leading to significant overheads for implementing such quantum algorithms. One-dimensional topology displacements that remedy these limits have been recently demonstrated for architectures based on Rydberg atoms, and they are possible in principle in photonic and ion trap architectures. We present the first optimal quantum circuit-to-architecture mapping algorithm that exploits such one-dimensional topology displacements. We benchmark our method on quantum circuits with up to 15 qubits and investigate the improvements compared with conventional mapping based on inserting swap gates into the quantum circuits. Depending on underlying technology parameters, our approach can decrease the quantum circuit depth by up to 58% and increase the fidelity by up to 29%. We also study runtime and fidelity requirements on one-dimensional displacements and swap gates to derive conditions under which one-dimensional topology displacements provide benefits.

With the popularization of mobile wireless networks and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, energy-hungry and delay-intensive applications continue to surge. Due to the limited computing power and battery capacity, mobile terminals rarely satisfy the increasing demands of application services. Mobile Edge computing (MEC) deploys communication and computing resources near the network edge closing to the user side, which effectively reduces devices' energy consumption and enhances system performance. However, the application of MEC needs infrastructures that can deploy edge services, and is limited by the geographical environment. UAV-assisted MEC has better flexibility and communication Line-of-Sight (LoS), which expands service scope while improving the versatility of MEC. Meanwhile, the dynamic task arrival rate, channel condition, and environmental factors pose challenges for task offloading and resources allocation strategy. In this paper, we jointly optimize UAV deployment, frequency scaling, and task scheduling to minimize energy consumption for devices while ensuring system stability in the long term. Due to the dynamic and randomness of task arrival rate and wireless channel, the original problem is defined as a stochastic optimization problem. The Drone Placement and Online Task oFFloading (DPOTFF) algorithm is designed to decouple the original problem into several sub-problems and solve them within a limited time complexity. It is also proved theoretically that the DPOTFF can obtain close-to-optimal energy consumption while ensuring system stability. The effectiveness and reliability of the algorithm are also verified by simulation and comparative experiments.

High volumes of wide varieties of valuable data of different veracity can be easily generated or collected at a high velocity from various big data applications and services. A rich source of these big data is the Internet of Things (IoT), which can be viewed as a network of sensors, mobile devices, wearable devices, and other "things" that are capable to operate within the existing Internet infrastructure. As a popular data science task, frequent pattern mining aims to discover implicit, previously unknown and potentially useful information and valuable knowledge-in terms of sets of frequently co-occurring items-embedded in these big data. Existing frequent pattern mining algorithms mostly run serially on a single local computer or in distributed and parallel environments on computer clusters, grids, or clouds. Many of these algorithms return large numbers of frequent patterns, of which only some may be of interest to the user. In this paper, we present a constrained big data mining algorithm that (i) focuses the mining to those frequent patterns that are interested to the users and (ii) runs in an edge computing environment, in which computation is performed at edges of the computing network.

The accurate localization of wireless devices plays an important role in several real-time Internet of Things (IoT) applications. In a network composed of many IoT sensors, a distributed collaborative localization approach can give more accurate localization performance based on a decentralized and low-complexity processing. However, the presence of Non-Line of Sight links between IoT devices detrimentally impacts the localization accuracy. In this paper, we propose a distributed localization algorithm based on a convex relaxation of the Huber loss function. Moreover, to reduce the algorithm convergence time, an iterative stochastic gradient descent algorithm is proposed. Through numerical simulations, we show that the proposed algorithm when used with optimal relaxation parameters of the Huber loss function achieves very low root mean square error and outperforms existing algorithms in the literature. Finally, we validate our proposed scheme using real experimental data.

The alluring benefits of Mobile Cloud computing have attracted many mobile device users. The moving property of the mobile devices can serve as the boon to its user but curse for its developers. The moving devices cause the problems of the link faults, less available resources and unreliable dynamic networking conditions. The link failure of the nodes in the changing network decreases the performance of the network. Many multipath routing algorithms have been constructed so far to provide the stable paths but fails in recovery of the left-out node from network. A novel weight based approach has been proposed to detect the failed node and discover the alternate node to provide the seamless services. The approach works upon taking two parameters of working nodes (i) failure rate (ii) execution time. A master node is selected and its parameters are stated as Threshold values. The alternate node is selected by comparing the values with threshold values.

This work discusses the key opportunities introduced by Heterogeneous computing for large-scale processing in the security and cryptography domain. In this study, a modified shuffled frog leaping algorithm (MSFLA) is formulated for the optimal placement of distributed static compensator (DSTATCOM) and distributed generation (DG) in a 33-bus distribution network (DN) with an aim to reduce line losses, improve system voltage, and decrease the environmental pollution. Voltage stability index (VSI) is applied to determine the weaker zones of the DN and considering that zones only, the optimal placement is performed. Innovative indexes are developed to measure the techno-environmental impact of these devices. In the modified version of SFLA (MSFLA), new frog leaping rules are formulated to improve the convergence characteristics of standard SFLA. The proposed MSFLA is conducted for the optimal placement of these devices at different load levels and the techno-environmental performances are accomplished to identify the most suitable device for DN. The proposed algorithm is also compared with the other algorithms to show its effectiveness. © 2018 IEEE.

One of the problems responsible of power generation and transmission is the maintaining of an appropriate voltage profile by installation of reactive power supplies. In this paper, we propose a new technique for the optimal location and design of two kinds of Flexible AC Transmission System devices (FACTS) namely: Satitic Var Compensator (SVC) and Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) handling the minimization of transmission losses in electrical network. Using the proposed scheme, the type, the location and the rating of FACTS devices are optimized simultaneously. The problem to solve is multi criteria under constraints related to the load flow equations, the voltages, the transformer turn ratios, the active and reactive productions and the compensation devices. Its resolution requires the employ of the advanced algorithms. Thus, we propose an approach based on the evolutionary algorithms (EA) to solve this problem multi criterion. It is about the NSGA-ii method (Ellitist Non Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm). The Pareto front is obtained for continuous, discrete and multiple of five MVArs of compensator devices for the IEEE 57-bus test system. ©2010 IEEE.

As quantum computers are based on the laws of quantum mechanics, they are capable of solving certain problems faster than their classical counterparts. However, often algorithms which a theoretical speed-up assume that data can be loaded efficiently. In general, the runtime complexity of the loading routine depends on (i) the data encoding that defines how the data is represented and (ii) the data itself. In some eases, loading the data requires at least exponential tune which destroys a potential speed-up. And especially for the first generation of devices that are currently available, the resources (qubits and operations) needed to encode the data are limited. Therefore, understanding the consequences of a particular data encoding is crucial. To capture knowledge about different encodings, we present two data encoding patterns that extend our previous collection of encoding patterns [1].
