The article considers the possibility of stabilizing the processing quality parameters during cylindrical external grinding due to the diagnosis of dimensional wear of the grinding wheel and control of its rotation frequency. To solve this problem, the dependences of changes in the technological system leading to changes in output variables, material removal rate Dr, and surface roughness Ra are considered. In the process of cylindrical external grinding in order to stabilize the quality parameters, it is necessary to create a diagnostic system and control the rotational frequency of the grinding wheel. As a result of the analysis, it was found that adjusting the speed of the grinding wheel will stabilize the processing quality parameters. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

X-ray beamlines are essential components of all synchrotron light sources. Practical operations involve frequent variation in beamline component positions and orientation, particularly when photon beam parameters shift due to experimental needs, or due to variations in the incoming photon beam. The alignment process can be time consuming and takes away from valuable beam time for experimental data collection. We describe progress in the automation of certain alignment tasks on the tender-energy X-ray spectroscopy (TES) beamline at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II). The beamline is controlled using the BlueSky software in which high level experimental plans guide the beamline components during an experiment. Numerous software packages exist for beamline modeling, and they may be tied to the beamline control system using a package we are continuing to develop called Sirepo-Bluesky. The photon beam distribution may be measured with fluorescent screens, and a relation between beam and machine state can be found by varying the mirror and aperture settings over a multi-dimensional range. We describe the results of such parameter varying measurements and how we are combining Sirepo-Bluesky with machine learning methods and reduced models to automate mirror alignment on the TES beamline. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The eddy current method of control is analyzed and the possibility of its use for the identification of metals and alloys is substantiated. It is shown that this can be done by modernizing the eddy current radio engineering system with dynamic scanning of metal samples, which consists in the use of modern microcontrollers with high-precision ADC operation. The structural scheme of the modernized system is presented, some aspects of the processing of the received response signal are considered, which made it possible to highlight the information coefficients that would represent the metal or alloy as a generalized image. It is proposed to use the developed control system for the inverse problem - detection of defective zones on rolled metal sheets. The process of identifying the type of defect is carried out using the same methods as for spot samples of metals. The application of automation of the movement of the sensor during the control of rolled metal allows to identify metals and alloys in real time, to carry out express control, without human intervention in the identification process.

The wide application of VVER-1200 reactors in global energy sector poses a challenge of increasing their reliability and operational safetу. The main requirement in this case is the referentiality of the Units, as well as the availability of all post-Fukushima requirements to ensure the safety of advanced generation 3+ Power Units. In this regard, the article considers the issue of processing and deep analysis of data of electrical parameters of turbine generator, which is one of the main ones due to the large amount of information and the complexity of obtaining the desired result without operator involved. Alarm event recorders are started when the monitored value reaches the preset value, or the entire operation process is recorded, but with a very long sampling time. While turbine generators operation there are known cases of serious accidents, which led to financial losses and reduced production of electricity. State-of-the-art generator monitoring and diagnosis systems are indispensable and essential for NPP operation. To date, the methods of diagnosis of electric motors, based on tracking and evaluation of current consumption, with further spectral analysis of the information obtained are widely used. This type of analysis allows to determine with a high probability the type, type and nature of damage to the equipment, both mechanical and electrical parts. At this method of diagnostics the subject of study is harmonic components in stator currents, this type of observation is especially relevant for high capacity turbogenerators. At present, the spectral analysis of turbine-generator currents is not fully applied at the latest generation Power Units with VVER-1200 type reactors, and more precisely, there is no systematic approach to the processing of the obtained results for a long period of time. This study introduced a combination of mechanical modeling and numerical simulation to investigate the swimming characteristics and dynamic mechanisms of micro magnetically-controlled bionic soft robot with paired fin. The primary focus was on the integrated modeling and simulation of the magnetic torque transmission-soft body deformation and overall motion-fluid response process within the motion chain, including the design of mechanical structures, motion strategies, structural orderliness and stability, and propulsion performance. Meanwhile, this research explored the complex flow disturbances and flow control mechanisms during the swimming of micro magnetically-controlled biorobotic robot, thereby revealing potential hydrodynamic advantages in their locomotion. The contribution of this study was not only significant for the dynamic principles of micro magnetically-controlled flexible robot motion but also provide theoretical and technical support for the optimized design and formation control of biorobotic soft robot and micro/nano medical robots working in the narrow space.

Efficient processing of high-resolution fundus images is indispensable for the real-time detection of retinal diseases. This study introduces a novel very large-scale integration (VLSI) architecture that utilizes convolutional neural network models to resolve concerns regarding latency, power consumption, and memory efficiency. While detecting retinal disorders, the proposed design achieves a 97.1% classification accuracy with a latency of 40 ms and 0.9W of power. Utilizing Verilog HDL and 28nm CMOS technology, the product is equipped with a fault-tolerant control unit, efficient processing elements, and hierarchical memory management. The architecture's capacity to manage 33 images per second has been demonstrated through testing on benchmark datasets, all while maintaining energy efficiency and throughput. The proposed method considerably outperforms GPU-based methods, particularly in embedded and portable devices, and paves the way for fast, real-time medical diagnostics.

Combustion processes are characterized by some parameters, including spectroscopic ones. Therefore, it is proposed to use the methods of applied optical spectroscopy to solve the task of diagnosing a combustion process of gaseous hydrocarbon fuel. In this case, the control device is a spectral-selective device that scans optical radiation as a signal carrying spectroscopic information about the combustion process. It can replace most of the control - measuring equipment located at the place of measuring. This device executes spectral measurements in specified areas of the optical range using a set of narrowband interference optical filters tuned to the specific wavelengths. The modernity of the device is confirmed by the Russian Federation patent. In this research, an installation was developed, which includes a burner and a gas supply system. An analysis of the spectroscopic informative properties in the emission spectrum of the flame arising from the combustion of hydrocarbon fuel was carried out. The experiment was accomplished by using the Ocean Optics USB2000 + spectrometer. The results of this experiment provided comprehensive information on the wavelength values of the optical filters are needed. These filters are part of the spectral-selective diagnostic device. Then a prototype of the spectral selective device for a combustion diagnostic was developed and assembled. In this paper, the results of experimental research of this device and a comparative analysis with the Ocean Optics USB2000 + spectrometer within the case of solving the problem of gaseous hydrocarbon fuel combustion diagnostics are also provided.

The article considers the intelligent system of control and technical diagnostics of complex technological equipment and flexible production systems developed by the authors. The provision of automatic selection of important parameters from the entire set of input and output parameters is due to the additional training of the neural network in the process and perhaps by increasing-decreasing the number of active neurons that do not lead to deterioration in the quality of technical diagnostics, but also due to the choice of excess neurons and their activation by retraining or failure of the neurons of the network. Diagnostic systems may include sensors, a computer system, and diagnostic signal display devices. The computational part of the system can contain modules implemented with the possibility of intelligent analysis and containing a dynamic model that is implemented on a trained neural network, and a module implemented with the possibility of additional training of the neural network and the selection of active and redundant neurons. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study presents the integration of Embedded Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, with a hardware-based system to create an enhanced Human-Machine Interface (HMI) for autonomous vehicles. The system leverages various components, including a ChatGPT voice processor, ATMega328 controller, microphone, audio codec, speaker, and digital amplifier, to enable intuitive voice interactions between passengers and the autonomous vehicle. This setup allows real-time communication for navigation assistance, vehicle diagnostics, and emergency handling. Key hardware components include GPS for location tracking, accident/mechanic switches for manual alerts, a fire sensor for safety monitoring, and a relay with a driver module for controlling vehicle operations. The system is further connected to external networks through a GSM modem, facilitating emergency alerts and remote monitoring via IoT. The ATMega328 controller acts as the central coordinator, interfacing between these sensors and the LLM, while the Arduino IDE is used to program and manage the control logic. The inclusion of IoT capabilities enables real-time data transmission and system monitoring from remote locations, enhancing safety and efficiency. By embedding ChatGPT, the system transforms traditional HMIs, offering a more responsive, voice-based interface that provides situational awareness, personalized responses, and seamless operation, improving passenger experience and trust in autonomous vehicle technologies.
