The article presents the results of the research devoted to the development of a model for predicting the characteristics of the evacuation process of passengers and crew members from an airplane in emergency situations on the ground. The model is based on a system-dynamic approach. On the basis of a system analysis, the main characteristics of this process are chosen and the cause-and-effect relationships between them are identified. These characteristics and links are used to build a formalized model, which is presented as a system of differential equations. Using the developed model at various time intervals, computational experiments were carried out to determine the values of the characteristics of the process of evacuating passengers and crew members from an airplane in emergencies on the ground. The research results are supposed to be applied in information systems at some stages of the life cycle of aviation systems, for example, for making decisions in the design of advanced airplanes. © 2021 IEEE.

Partial discharges (PD) diagnostics are considered as reliable techniques for the insulation health assessment of various electrical components of the power system. Generally, PD diagnostic tests are performed in laboratory by ignoring the effect of harmonic pollution in test voltage waveform. However, the operation of electric motors (EMs) fed by variable frequency drives (VFD) produces harmonic distortion in the sinusoidal test voltage waveform. During low speed operation of VFD, the influence of harmonic distortion in test voltage waveform is increased. The additional distortion parameters in the test voltage waveform can significantly increase the PD activity in the EM insulation. Therefore, for correct understanding of PD data, it is essential to consider the actual harmonic spectrum of the test voltage waveform during online PD measurement. This paper presents a methodology for the quantification of the probability of PD in VFD-fed EMs under different concentration of voltage harmonics. For the experimental work, PD diagnostic tests have been performed under variable operating conditions of eight EMs and PD severity is investigated by calculating the PD characteristic parameters at different harmonic distortion levels. Also, the probability density functions and cumulative distribution functions for several probability distributions were evaluated to statistically process the PD data at different harmonic levels. Finally, the distribution fitting tools have been implemented to find an appropriate distribution that can precisely characterize the probability of PD under different concentration of voltage harmonics. The proposed method may be utilized for studying the effect of harmonic distortion on PD activity and estimating the lifetime of stator insulation in EMs.

Use of a torquemeter to accurately measure shaft horsepower independent of fuel, pressure, temperature, and flow variations is known to many oil and gas plant turbomachinery users worldwide. Used to inform the end user of turbomachinery train location specific degredation, the basic condition monitoring torquemeter system is a useful plant tool for performance trending and diagnostics. The large fuel use of steam turbines in ethylene manufacture makes plant efficiency extremely important to bottom line considerations. For end users of torquemeter devices, it has always been possible for them to be used as process control devices, since accurate delivered power measurement helps run close to performance limits, maximising plant throughput and therefore revenue. The single measurement aspect of the torquemeter system does not provide for a functionally safe system in process control terms. This paper outlines the successful development of a process system, using novel technology, which can be applied as a retrofit or new build system. Simulink PLC Coder extension for Mathworks Simulink modeling software provides a novel approach for designing and exporting complex controls systems for PLCs and PACs. Our senior design team utilized the software to better optimize furnace controls in a feed forward system for our industrial sponsor. This report will reflect on the process of using PLC coder to model and create IDE specific structured text code for the furnace control system. The coder extension allows the user to build a complex system model in Simulink, including mock-ups of the controls and plant. Simulink can verify operation through simulation and built in diagnostics. After the model is verified, the controls system can be isolated and PLC Coder can generate PLC code from it for multiple target IDEs. The resulting code will be commented and tagged to assist in the ease of integration within an existing system. This process will greatly reduce the time for delivery of complex controls systems for industrial PLC applications. Copyright ©2020, American Society for Engineering Education

In this paper, we present the results of a study conducted using cutting-edge deep-ultraviolet (DUV) brightfield wafer inspection technology, enhanced by a new artificial intelligence (AI) based image enhancer algorithm. The study focused on the most advanced design rule technology and demonstrated a reduction of up to 2.8x in the number of defects that are sent for Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) review, while maintaining an equal or better Capture Rate of key Defects of Interest (DOI) compared to the benchmark inspection recipe. These results highlight the potential value of the AI-based algorithm in achieving tighter defect control and enabling higher yield, all while minimizing the Fab Cost of Ownership.

In the process of copper flotation, the traditional detection method has some defects in accurately detecting the depth of foam layer in the flotation cell, especially for the identification of foam information of highly reflective and attenuation materials in the flotation foam system. We aim to introduce a new synthetic dataset, specifically for the flotation foam system, and pay special attention to the foam information of high reflection and high attenuation materials, so as to promote it to the actual flotation foam system and improve the accuracy of liquid level detection. We combine the newly synthesized dataset with binocular ranging methods and propose a soft strategy method for depth estimation of flotation cell thickness using binocular stereo matching based on IoT technology. The experimental results show that our method has achieved remarkable results in the flotation foam system, can accurately measure the depth of the flotation cell, and provides reliable technical support for the control and optimization of the flotation process. Therefore, this binocular stereo matching depth estimation method based on IoT technology provides an effective way to solve the limitations of traditional flotation depth detection methods. It not only effectively monitors the current efficiency of the flotation cell but also automatically identifies instances of flotation cell froth overflowing, offering automated inspection and diagnostics.

Good Quality and higher productivity play important role in manufacturing industries. Delivering improved quality product at reduced price in stiff-cut throat competitive market condition needs optimization of process. Welding is one of basic manufacturing process adopted by many industries for the production work. Weld quality inspection is carried out after welding is performed and product are rejected if defects are identified resulting in to repetition of whole cycle. To study and develop credible diagnosis system for welding On-line quality control in industry is customary of strategies. Sensors located in various region of welding play a significant role in online monitoring for process diagnostics. Experimental investigations will help to map weld quality in early stage with real time monitoring weld temperature, voltage, acoustic etc. with help of sensors placed around welding region. Arc column interface data can be captured using sensor and transferred via controllers displayed on mobile or workstation for live monitoring. In present paper authors have put an attempt to find need of submerged arc welding (SAW) arc column behaviour, its varied effect on weld quality, characterization of defect with sensor signals, methods used for monitoring and techniques to make intelligent welding expert system using Internet of Thing (IoT). Smart manufacturing is demanding change in the path of digitalization revolution. Adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) in the welding imparts assistances to overcome constraint based on adaptive control strategy leading to smart welding. In this article, a diagnostic system for the electrical equipment of the Uralmash 6500/450 BMCh rig according to the logical model of the electromechanical complex of the drilling rig is described. The algorithm was developed according to the table of the fault function and the preference function for implementation on a microprocessor system. The technological process of the drilling rig was studied and the functional diagram of the electrical equipment has been drawn up. A diagram of the interconnection between the control system and the main machinery electric drive system was developed. Methods and approaches to diagnosing electromechanical systems were studied. A table of fault functions for the microcontroller was compiled. The system allows locating the fault in real time using a microprocessor controller.

Recently the Kalman filter is one of the most efficient filtering algorithms used in many fields of science and technology. Due to its simplicity, it can be found in GPS receivers, in systems for processing sensor readings, in the implementation of control systems, etc. When designing control systems, one of the important tasks is the availability of a highly efficient and reliable system of sensors for the state of the control object. In addition to its reliability, the control process is also affected by sensor characteristics such as accuracy and speed. In order to ensure the stable operation of the control system, in addition to the above characteristics, it is necessary to eliminate external and internal interference, namely, the measurement and high-quality noise processing. The paper considers the problem of filtering vibroacoustic signals using an adaptive Kalman filter in order to further use the filtered array to solve the problem of vibroacoustic diagnostics. Currently, the objects of vibroacoustic diagnostics are internal combustion engines in which the components move relative to each other and, as a result, acoustic waves arise. These waves can be registered on the external parts of the machine, and the analysis of these waves makes it possible to judge the technological state of the machine. The results of modeling an adaptive filter in the Matlab/Simulink software environment of a real vibroacoustic signal are also presented. A device based on the Arduino Mega microcontroller was implemented, which was used to process field observations of the object of study.
