Sensors and their applications have received attention in the last few years, mainly due to the high demand of devices able to make improvements in quality, performance and safety across many industrial sectors. The automotive and medical industries being outstanding examples. Different technologies have been used in this regard and have produced reliable devices and systems. Despite this, some crucial technical drawbacks, which limit performance and reliability, are still present: limited response control, bandwidth, and relatively large dimensions. Metasurfaces, engineered electromagnetic materials, can overcome and/or mitigate such issues. In this paper, devices based on metasurface technology for advanced sensing and medical diagnostic applications are manufactured and experimentally validated. First, their properties are designed in terms of electromagnetic parameters and structure physical dimensions. An additive manufacturing process will use the specifications to physically realize the sensors. They will then be experimentally tested in a variety of bio-medical applications. Metasurfaces pave a new way to realize sensors and use them for many practical applications beyond sensing and diagnostics.

The development of control systems of increased reliability is highly relevant due to their widespread introduction in various sectors of human activity, including those where failure of the control system can lead to serious or catastrophic consequences. The increase of the reliability of control systems is directly related with the reliability of control computers (so called intellectual centers) since the computer technology is the basis of modern control systems. One of the possible solutions to the development of highly reliable control computers is the practical implementation of the provisions of the theory of structural stability, which involves the practical solution of two main tasks - this is the task of functional adaptation and the preceding task of functional diagnostics. This article deals with the issues on the assessment of computational complexity of the implementation of the adaptation process of structural and sustainable control computer. The criteria of computational complexity are the characteristics of additionally attracted resources, such as the temporal characteristics of the adaptation process and the characteristics of the involved amount of memory resources of the control computer involved in the implementation of the adaptation process algorithms.

The denoising process for rolling bearing vibration signal could significantly influence the performance of the diagnosis, prognostics and control process of a mechanical system. During the last several years, convolutional neural network(CNN) has been widely applied in the field of image denoising. However, it has been rarely applied to time-series signal denoising. Therefore, in this paper, we construct a novel architecture of CNN for rolling bearing vibration signal denoising. Furthermore, we also adopt non-local means (NLM) which is firstly introduced in the field of image denoising to construct non-local block (NLB), which could improve the performance of our proposed CNN considerably. Moreover, the NLB could be plugged into the denoising architecture at any positions without breaking the original behavior of the network. Based on it, we also propose a non-local denoising convolutional neural network (NL-DeCNN) aiming at rolling bearing vibration signal denoising. In the experiment section, we firstly proposed our original CNN architecture and then test the influence of the single NLB when it is embedded into different layers. Next, we test the influence of the number of NLBs. Lastly, we also compare our proposed CNN based method with other three traditional time-series denoising methods and our NL-DeCNN exhibits the best performance among these methods.

In the article, there is presented the description of the algorithm of the operating process of the simulation model characteristics' determination realized in the transport system. The simulation model of the means of transport's operating process has been developed based on the that process's mathematical model (semi-Markov model). Due of the assumed principles, the constructed model can be applied for the purposes of assessment and control of the operating process because of criterion of different types. Analysis of performance's assessment of the operating means of transport is one of the ways of the possibilities of correct realization of the assigned transportation tasks in the transport systems. The simulation model of the operating process presented in the work, makes it possible to assess performance of the transport system's operation from the point of view of the selected assessment criteria: availability of the means of transport and the unit income generated in the process's modelling conditions. Based on the results of the tests conducted in the real system of the means of transport operating system, the model's input data have been developed and simulation experiments have been conducted. As an effect, there have been determined the exemplary values of the analyzed characteristics of the transport system's operation performance analyses.

The advent of the internet of things and big data era has brought new ideas for corrosion analysis and prediction of refining units. With the establishment and application of all kinds of information systems, refining enterprises have accumulated a large number of structured, unstructured, corrosion influencing factors and corrosion result data sources, but all kinds of system data are independent, and the traditional storage methods are limited in calculation, processing and analysis and mining ability, which do not have the conditions of big data analysis and utilization, so it is urgent to study the standardized collection method of corrosion data and establish a unified data center. Based on the whole life process of equipment, this paper studies the data content, data characteristics and current main data acquisition and management forms of corrosion related data in each link of the equipment through-life. In addition, this paper puts forward the overall structure of corrosion big data standard acquisition system for refining process in the enterprise as a whole. The big data acquisition system, which is suitable for corrosion big data comprehensive collection, efficient storage and open interface, is established to carry on the data acquisition step by step, and lays a foundation for the acquisition and analysis and utilization of corrosion big data from refining process. © 2019 IEEE.

In particular functioning of high-speed rolling bearings with use of lubricant with rather big viscosity can happen without destructions of a high-resistance lubricant film. At the same time the annex of tribovoltage to rolling bearings leads to emergence of electric current caused in particular by tunneling effect of a charge across a film. control of technical condition of frictional units has to be exercised according to electric parameters of the lubricant film which is implemented in friction zones. Values of these parameters depend on a condition of a lubricant film, and in particular on her temperature which is caused by degree of wear of details of frictional units which function under the influence of mechanical *** model can be used for technical diagnostics, and also for decrease of speed of process of wear. In practice the developed model can be used for those productions, vehicles, control systems where failure of frictional pieces can lead to failure of an expensive production inventory, the emergency cessation of production of goods, accidents of means of transportation of goods and people, loss of management of technical systems and also control systems of human activity.

Fault diagnosis method based on blind source separation (BSS) of rotating machinery, such as rolling element bearings and gears is a necessary tool to prevent any unexpected accidents. However, the actual measurement is usually hindered by certain restrictions, such as the limited number of channels. To deal with this problem, this paper proposes a BSS method for rotating machinery fault diagnosis based on empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and correlation measure. First, the undetermined BSS problem is transformed into determined BSS problem through EMD. Then, various signal components are separated through multi-shift correlation measure. Thus, mixed source signals from one single channel can be well separated. Simulated results show that the proposed method has a good performance during the BSS process with one single channel, which also implies its further application on rotating machinery fault diagnosis. © 2019 IEEE.

processes exhibiting an initial response in opposite to the final steady-state are known as inverse response processes which make the control more difficult. In the literature, usually, well known tree term controllers, that is Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers, are used to control such processes. This paper introduces optimal tuning rules for I-PD controllers, which has been shown to perform better than PID controllers, for controlling integrating processes with inverse response. Integral performance criteria were applied to obtain those mentioned tuning rules to be used for calculating the I-PD controller tuning parameters. Effectiveness of obtained tuning rules has been shown by simulation examples.

Laser materials processing, e.g. welding/additive manufacturing with cw sources or surface modification with short and ultra-short pulsed lasers is a highly dynamic process, requiring a sensor with high temporal and spatial resolution for evaluating the result of the treatment. Especially in the context of Industry 4.0, digitalization and predictive maintenance reliable sensors get much more into focus. A major drawback of this photon-material interaction with respect to the acquisition of trustworthy measurement data from the interaction zone is the presence of intense process emissions and steep temperature gradients. Common devices used as sensors for process monitoring, like CMOS/IR cameras or photo diodes, help to get an idea of the resulting quality but the acquired data is always perturbed by hot vapor emerging from the workpiece surface. Sensors based on OCT (optical coherence tomography)/low coherence interferometry are different to all the other technologies because the measurement is not affected by the process emissions and thus open new horizons in laser materials processing. The use of this method in laser applications has risen in the last years. Since its first appearance in 2008 [1], application examples were shown for laser cutting [2], selective laser melting [3], laser micro machining [4], laser drilling [5] and laser welding [6]. For the latter, a huge potential is foreseen [8].

Aiming at the problems of random loss and fragment loss of monitoring data during the perception and transmission process, a virtual data service method based on autoregressive model optimized by particle filter is proposed. Firstly, the construction of autoregressive model for monitoring data is studied. The historical data are used to estimate the model parameters, and the virtual data are generated by model extrapolating to recover the missing data. Secondly, aiming at the problem that autoregressive model cannot adapt to the change of data trend caused by the state evolution of the monitored equipment, the particle filter is used to optimize the model parameters to improve the adaptability and accuracy of virtual data estimation. Finally, the simulating analysis and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
