This paper delves into the refractometric methodology for monitoring liquid media within the infrared spectrum, presenting a pioneering design of an optoelectronic system anchored on an attenuated total reflectance element. The proposed system exhibits heightened sensitivity, tailored for precise analysis of optical parameters of liquid media products. Utilizing key components such as light-emitting diodes, a cuvette, the attenuated total reflectance element, and an optical detector, this system epitomizes versatility and efficacy across diverse applications. Through the integration of attenuated total reflectance elements, researchers and engineers can develop highly sensitive instruments, facilitating non-destructive testing, chemical analysis, and environmental monitoring. The inherent flexibility in such systems enables customization to meet specific measurement requirements, ranging from industrial process monitoring to medical diagnostics, by adjusting parameters like angle of incidence, light wavelength, and optical material selection. This paper contributes to advancing optoelectronic control measurement systems, offering enhanced capabilities for accurate and reliable assessment of liquid media properties in various fields. © 2024 IEEE.

It has been a standard medical practice of diagnostic test laboratories as part of the legal process to archive every test sample for a specific period just in case the patients return for re-tests. Archiving tested samples involves identification, placing them in pallets and recording the position as part of the database to ease out the retrieval of the same for later purposes. The pallets will be preserved for any future reference. The automation built as part of the work involved the fabrication of a Gantry robot with the development of hardware and software systems for application and controls. The application work involved the detection of vacuum tubes, picking from source pallets and placing them in destination pallets after categorization concerning departments. The image processing algorithm involved training the model on annotated datasets, employing the YOLO algorithm and PyTorch. The designed Gantry robot can archive an average of 300 vacuum tubes per hour and provides a work volume of 600mm x 500mm x 130mm.

The numerical simulation model of the slag mode control and diagnostics system contains the following calculation blocks: determination of yield, composition and polytherm viscosity of final slag;calculation of slag desulfurizing ability;slag mode diagnostics. The model is applicable to slags with permissible variations of Al2O3 content from 3 to 17%, MgO - from 5 to 20%, SiO2 content of 35% and more in slags, CaO content of 35% and more in slags. The developed automated information system calculates the following slag properties: slag temperature, slag viscosity at slag discharge temperature, slag basicity (CaO/SiO2), (CaO + MgO)/SiO2 and (CaO + MgO)/(SiO2 + Al2O3);temperatures at which slag viscosity is 7 and 25 poise;slag viscosity gradients in the range of 7-25 poise and in the range of 1400-1500 degrees C. The system can be used by a process team both during blast furnace smelting to control and diagnose the slag mode for a selected time frame, and during simulation of slag properties with regard to the specified rates and properties of the loaded burden.

In the modern industrial context, laser processes, such as laser cutting and laser welding, are predominantly monitored and partially controlled in specific areas, such as process abort scenarios or axis actuator movements. Industrial driven interfaces like OPC UA or proprietary bus interface recently allow data acquisition from those control units within certain limits. This data can be augmented with highly accurate scientific data sources. In our proposed setup this is achieved by integrating laser acoustic sensors along with high speed cameras operating in visual and thermal spectrum. The variety of available data sources offers a significant potential for further processing and analysis via artificial intelligence (AI), contributing to deeper process understanding and further development of enhanced control algorithms of laser material machining processes. A post-mortem annotation with quality characteristics such as dross formation, surface roughness, welding depth, porosity, crater formation, etc. deliver all premises to develop and train AI based control models. To link all data sources and annotations a common time management and time normal is required. Its time resolution depends on the fastest cycle time governing a control answer, typically executed in the range of sub milliseconds. A time scale smaller than standard AI algorithms typically deliver complex inference results. Our paper presents an approach to close the time gap by introducing a smart control platform capable of capturing and preprocessing data in real time by utilizing hardware accelerated acquisition algorithms and time management (FPGA-MPSoC). The solution was implemented, transferred to a state of the art welding and cutting setup, and successfully tested. A foundation for an AI controlled laser machining process is set.

In the process of copper flotation, the traditional detection method has some defects in accurately detecting the depth of foam layer in the flotation cell, especially for the identification of foam information of highly reflective and attenuation materials in the flotation foam system. We aim to introduce a new synthetic dataset, specifically for the flotation foam system, and pay special attention to the foam information of high reflection and high attenuation materials, so as to promote it to the actual flotation foam system and improve the accuracy of liquid level detection. We combine the newly synthesized dataset with binocular ranging methods and propose a soft strategy method for depth estimation of flotation cell thickness using binocular stereo matching based on IoT technology. The experimental results show that our method has achieved remarkable results in the flotation foam system, can accurately measure the depth of the flotation cell, and provides reliable technical support for the control and optimization of the flotation process. Therefore, this binocular stereo matching depth estimation method based on IoT technology provides an effective way to solve the limitations of traditional flotation depth detection methods. It not only effectively monitors the current efficiency of the flotation cell but also automatically identifies instances of flotation cell froth overflowing, offering automated inspection and diagnostics. © 2024 IEEE.

The wide application of VVER-1200 reactors in global energy sector poses a challenge of increasing their reliability and operational safety. The main requirement in this case is the referentiality of the Units, as well as the availability of all post-Fukushima requirements to ensure the safety of advanced generation 3+ Power Units. In this regard, the article considers the issue of processing and deep analysis of data of electrical parameters of turbine generator, which is one of the main ones due to the large amount of information and the complexity of obtaining the desired result without operator involved. Alarm event recorders are started when the monitored value reaches the preset value, or the entire operation process is recorded, but with a very long sampling time. While turbine generators operation there are known cases of serious accidents, which led to financial losses and reduced production of electricity. State-of-the-art generator monitoring and diagnosis systems are indispensable and essential for NPP operation. To date, the methods of diagnosis of electric motors, based on tracking and evaluation of current consumption, with further spectral analysis of the information obtained are widely used. This type of analysis allows to determine with a high probability the type, type and nature of damage to the equipment, both mechanical and electrical parts. At this method of diagnostics the subject of study is harmonic components in stator currents, this type of observation is especially relevant for high capacity turbogenerators. At present, the spectral analysis of turbine-generator currents is not fully applied at the latest generation Power Units with VVER-1200 type reactors, and more precisely, there is no systematic approach to the processing of the obtained results for a long period of time. The eddy current method of control is analyzed and the possibility of its use for the identification of metals and alloys is substantiated. It is shown that this can be done by modernizing the eddy current radio engineering system with dynamic scanning of metal samples, which consists in the use of modern microcontrollers with high-precision ADC operation. The structural scheme of the modernized system is presented, some aspects of the processing of the received response signal are considered, which made it possible to highlight the information coefficients that would represent the metal or alloy as a generalized image. It is proposed to use the developed control system for the inverse problem - detection of defective zones on rolled metal sheets. The process of identifying the type of defect is carried out using the same methods as for spot samples of metals. The application of automation of the movement of the sensor during the control of rolled metal allows to identify metals and alloys in real time, to carry out express control, without human intervention in the identification process. © 2023 IEEE.

Vibration analysis serves as a valuable method to identify defects within mechanical systems. This process involves monitoring the auditory signals generated by the system and discerning patterns that signify potential issues. Nevertheless, due to the intricate nature of motors, relying solely on one modality (such as acoustic signals) might prove inadequate for comprehensively detecting all faults. Our research introduces a novel approach to enhance fault detection in mechanical systems, specifically focusing on motors. A more comprehensive system health assessment is achieved by utilizing multi-modal vibration analysis, combining acoustic signals and heat signatures. Effective information fusion is facilitated by integrating attention-based transformers, capable of capturing cross-modal correlations. The proposed neural network employs classification and regression loss functions for fault identification and severity assessment respectively. Evaluation on a motor fault dataset demonstrates significant classification accuracy improvements compared to conventional deep and machine learning methods. Incorporating a signal-to-image transformation further aids in fault pattern recognition. This method offers a promising avenue for accurate and comprehensive fault diagnosis in mechanical systems, showcasing the potential of multi-modal analysis and attention mechanisms for industrial equipment maintenance. © 2024 IEEE.

Exploring the Influence of the Evolution of Discharge Plasma Channel on the Characteristics of Electric Explosion Products

Electrical explosion method as a powerful tool for one-step synthesizing metallic nanoparticles has raised widely interests. In this paper, experiments were performed with three metal wires, namely copper, tungsten and titanium who are the typical representation of non-refractory and refractory metals. High-speed photography along with electrophysical and optical diagnostics were applied to characterize the electrical explosion. Accordingly, SEM and TEM was used to characterize the micro-morphology of explosion products. XRD was used to detect the phase compositions. Experiment results indicated that the products morphology and particle size distribution were influenced by the dynamic behaviors of the exploding wires. Electrothermal instability (ETI) and secondary breakdown were observed in copper wire explosion, the prominent discrepancies of temperature and density among stratified vapor and plasma channel enlarged the inhomogeneity of particle size. The sufficient plasma process maintained the metal vapor at a relatively high temperature and enhance the coalescence process after nucleation in titanium explosion, and the median diameter of particles increased as a result. The core-corona structure happened in tungsten wire explosion led to special heating mechanism (heat transport and/or radiation instead of Joule heating) which may be responsible for the formation of large-size agglomerates. In order to produce high-quality nanoparticles, except suitable experimental conditions, it is necessary to achieve homogeneous explosions. The critical dynamics behaviors including ETI (stratification), breakdown mode (inner or surface), and coexistent multi-states products (melts/vapor/plasma) under low-density current which caused the inhomogeneity should be further considered and eliminated in nanoparticle production.
