Loop detection constitutes an indispensable component in robotics and autonomous driving navigation systems. Extant literature has predominantly focused on extracting essential features from sensor data and constructing robust descriptors. Nevertheless, these measurements frequently suffer from errors, attributable to the diversity in traversal behaviors, complex traffic environments, and inconsistencies in sensor performance. This paper explores into the spatial and temporal aspects of loops, examines the temporal similarity and patterns of consecutive loop sequences, and introduces a temporal similarity assessment for measurements within the same sequence. Contrary to previous methodologies, our proposed method amalgamates measurements and temporal similarity for detection simultaneously. This innovative approach not only improves the efficiency of the measurement method but also utilizes temporal similarity to offset measurement inaccuracies, thereby enhancing detection performance in complex and extreme scenarios. To corroborate the efficacy of the proposed methodology, a meticulous evaluation is executed on a dataset comprising a wide spectrum of traffic scenarios. The results corroborate that the proposed method exhibits adaptability across an extensive array of complex and extreme scenarios while upholding efficiency.

Portable microwave radars are an emerging technology for remote recognition of human movements such as gesture commands, gait, and physical activities. Existing radar-based works on noncontact physical activity monitoring do not consider extracting individual signals from multiple targets doing exercises simultaneously when illuminated by the same radarsensor, which might be very useful in realistic environments where several people exercise nearby. In this work, the radar-based remote recognition of two human subjects simultaneously doing different exercises is proposed. Also, a strategy to find the range bins associated with the two targets of interest is detailed. Experimental results demonstrate that it is possible to detect and differentiate the exercises performed by each subject and count their corresponding number of exercise repetitions.

Lightweight antennas with accompanying transceivers can be mounted to the gear of a soldier to act as a radar system, both active and passive. In common squad configurations, nine (9) soldiers form a variety of positional shapes in their patrols, most commonly triangles, squares, and straight lines. The culmination of the receivers for the entire squad creates complex antenna arrays. In this paper, we investigate the antenna array patterns for these squad configurations. This radar system as a whole can act as an active system, with one node acting as the transmitter, or as a purely passive system, exploiting transmitters of opportunity depending on the RF infrastructure of the current environment. The array patterns can also be manipulated to meet other situational needs, including vehicular or ship mounted systems for a wide variety of purposes.
