Many data sources on the Internet contain math information within them, and math is used throughout daily life while being important for avenues of study and industry. Understanding math enables better problem solving, pattern comprehension, quantifying relationships, and making predictions of the future. Unfortunately, less people have proficiency in math in recent times. To make the situation worse, it is difficult to locate sources of relevant math information, particularly when the searcher has little familiarity with the subject area. Having Math Information Retrieval (IR) systems would help facilitate searches for math information and assist learners with understanding math concepts. Sadly, extracting mathematical notation in graphical representations into a standardized text-based format is a non-trivial task, since it is required to detect unique symbols and spatial arrangements of mathematical characters, as well as formula positioning in documents. Failure to correctly detecting and recognizing visual math formulas and their notation produce errors that alter the entire meaning of the resulting formulas, or simply do not have the speed needed for a real-time Math IR system. To address these problems, we have developed a combined FCOS and image2Latex framework to detect and extract math formulas from images and translate them accurately into LaTeX in a reasonable time frame.

Multi-resolution image fusion is a key problem for real-time satellite imaging, which has a central role in detecting and monitoring the intensity of key natural phenomena such as floods. It aims to solve the trade-off between high temporal and high spatial resolution in remote sensing instruments. Although several algorithms have been proposed to solve this problem, the presence of outliers caused by, e.g., cloud cover downgrades their performance. In this paper, an online image fusion method based on a robust Kalman filter with a weakly supervised approach for temporal dynamics estimation is proposed. Outliers are modelled as a discrete variables, where the probability of contamination for each pixel and spectral band is modelled by a latent variable whose distribution is approximated under variational inference. Experiments fusing images from the MODIS and Landsat 8 sensors show that the proposed approach is significantly more robust against cloud cover, without losing its efficiency when no clouds are present.

The opening and closing state of GIS isolation switch contact is an important parameter in GIS operating state. Aiming at the problems of dark GIS light and easy reflection of metal moving contact, this paper designs a GIS isolation switch opening and closing state recognition system based on imageprocessing. The system includes image acquisition module, acquisition board and backend online monitoring system, which can collect high quality images of GIS isolation switch and judge its opening and closing state in realtime. In addition, this paper proposes a GIS isolation switch on and off state recognition algorithm based on the largest connected component, which is verified on the 252kV smart GIS prototype. The results show that the system designed in this paper has strong robustness, and the recognition accuracy of the switch opening and closing can reach 80.56%.

Railway plays a leading role in the field of transportation in China and shoulders the important mission of driving the development of national economy. In view of the changeable environment of railway track, the processing algorithm with good real-time performance, strong robustness and high accuracy in the process of foreign body detection is the key to achieve rapid detection. In order to facilitate researchers to compare and analyze the effects of relevant algorithms intuitively and quickly, the GUI visual interactive interface was used to design the simulation platform for track foreign object imageprocessing, conceive the design process, build the overall design of the platform, and divide the static foreign object detection and moving target detection modules according to the realization functions. In the static foreign body detection module, the image of track foreign body is input to determine whether there is track foreign body and give early warning. Meanwhile, the processing effect of different algorithms can be visually compared through the operation results. In the moving target detection module, the moving target in the input video is marked and tracked. The test results of the simulation platform show that the processing platform is simple and easy to operate, and can effectively assist researchers to deepen the understanding and application of orbital foreign object imageprocessing.
