The rapid growth of satellite deployments in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) necessitates autonomous collision avoidance capabilities for spacecraft. This paper investigates the technical requirements for optical sensors in autonomous space Situational Awareness (SSA) applications, focusing on CubeSat implementations. The desired capability is detecting 1 cm objects at distances of 500 km, but optical analysis reveals this would require currently unattainable 10 nm pixel sizes. Given these technological constraints, we examined reduced detection distances by analyzing six representative satellite pairs using the SGP4 propagator at ranges of 500 km, 200 km, and 100 km. Our findings demonstrate that reducing detection distance from 500 km to 200 km decreases detection events by 70 − 80% and observation durations from approximately 2 s 0.5 s, with further reductions at 100 km. The results establish that while current technology cannot achieve optimal detection ranges, viable collision avoidance may be possible by focusing on larger objects (≤ 10 cm) at reduced detection distances. However, this significantly impacts the frequency and duration of detection opportunities. These findings provide crucial parameters for implementing autonomous collision avoidance systems within current technological constraints. © 2025 IACAS 2025 - 64th Israel Annual conference on Aerospace Sciences. As the complexity of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) applications in drive control systems increases, ensuring their safe and reliable operation has become a research focus. However, current sensors as key components in motor drive system subject to various faults. Fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control for current sensors are crucial to maintain system stability and reliability during sensor faults to ensure the safe operation of PMSM drive control systems. A fault diagnosis method based on offset coordinate system analysis is proposed in this paper, considering three fault modes of current sensors: fix, bias, and constant gain. To realize fault-tolerant control, a full-order sliding-mode observer (SMO) for IPMSM is also constructed. In the event of current sensor fault, a current error space vector reconstruction algorithm is taken to estimate three-phase current with a single current sensor, thereby achieving fault tolerance control. The present work delves into the mechanical design and analysis aspects of digital electronic systems with multi-pin integrated circuits mounted on multi-layer PCB’s which brings challenges in terms of design for their mechanical integrity and efficient thermal management. The paper focuses on Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modelling approach and Finite Element Method (FEM) based simulation aiming to create a robust system capable of withstanding diverse environmental conditions. By leveraging simple FEM techniques, design cycle of an electronic system can be reduced as compared to prototyping in which one design iteration can take hundreds of working hours. Our work contributes to the evolving landscape by providing a systematic approach and evolving effective strategies for creating reliable mechanical packages for ensuring high performance of digital electronic systems in the intended harsh space environment. This paper reports a nonplanar passive wireless differential microsensor integrated with intravenous (iv) catheters of small diameters to facilitate in situ real-time monitoring of concentrations of drugs or other target molecules/biomarkers in the bloodstream. The sensor is based on magnetoelastic (ME) transduction with passive wireless interrogation to detect target molecules as mass loading using a functionalized coating. It uses a differential configuration to distinguish the mass loading effect from variations caused by changes in surrounding fluid medium. The sensor was curved to match the catheter form factor with maximized active sensor surface area, packaged in housing with embedded microfluidic features for sample filtration/pretreatment, and integrated on an 18-gauge catheter with 1.3 mm outer diameter for demonstration. Preliminary experimental results validated functions of curved ME sensors with degraded performance due to curving fully restored by an optimized annealing process, demonstrating 5.3 Hz/ng mass sensitivity and proper differential operation with the medium effect eliminated. © 2025 IEEE.

The advancement of quantum technology holds significant promise for enhancing space-based applications, particularly in energy monitoring and data security. This paper investigates the integration of quantum sensors with advanced Quantum Key Protocols (QKP) to optimize and secure energy monitoring systems in space environments. Quantum sensors provide exceptional accuracy in measuring space-based energy sources, including solar radiation and cosmic energy, thereby enabling improved energy harvesting and utilization for space missions. QKP safeguards the integrity of the data collected by these sensors, employing quantum cryptography and entanglement to protect against potential threats such as data interception and tampering. This integrated approach addresses critical challenges such as signal attenuation, data integrity, and secure communication over long distances. This research will present a detailed analysis of the development and deployment of quantum sensors and QKP within space-based energy systems. The paper highlights advancements in sensor technology that enhance monitoring precision and examines the efficacy of QKP in maintaining data security under extreme space conditions. Results include prototype demonstrations, performance evaluations, and a comprehensive discussion of the benefits and limitations of this integrated technology. Findings in this paper indicate substantial improvements in both the accuracy of space-based energy monitoring and the security of data transmission, advancing the capability of space missions.

In recent years, the fusion of sensor technology with embedded systems has proven its worth in the domain of personalized healthcare. The purpose of the In-home healthcare system lies in its continuous monitoring of the vital signs of a person and the environmental conditions of the surroundings as well, thereby ensuring the early detection of health issues. This results in swift preventive measures to be undertaken. The proposed system is the integration of multiple sensors namely- The pulse sensor for monitoring the BPM (Beats per minute), DHT11 for room temperature, DS18B20 for body temperature, and MQ135 for air quality on Raspberry Pi Pico. The data from the sensors is continuously monitored and analyzed, detects anomalies, and generates alarms for the same. The sensor data collected is continuously displayed on the OLED for easy monitoring. The system’s compact and portable design enables efficient functionality while minimizing space requirements, offering a novel approach to space-constrained applications.

Smart Parking System with Dynamic Slot Allocation Using IoT and Paging Method: The aim of this proposed parking system is enhancing the user experience within an urban environment and the development of parking efficiency. A traditional system is inefficient regarding poor slot utilization and also cannot perform dynamic re-allocation. The proposed parking system utilizes IR sensors to detect the space in real-time, and it uses Paging Method to optimize slot allocation. A mobile application allows slot pre-booking, receives updates, and processes secure payments. Automatic Number Plate Recognition ensures that only authorized people get access. With a dynamic reallocation of slots depending on the users, it manages time slots effectively. The Billing Module integrates within it to calculate fees automatically for seamless payment processing. This reduces congestion, increases utilization, and provides a scalable solution to the infrastructure of modern urban life.
