This paper addresses the problem of small scale target tracking. The divided-by-zero problem in the weight computation of mean shift algorithm and its associated tracking interrupt problem are presented. To tackle these problems, the Parzen window density estimation method is modified to interpolate the histogram of the target candidate. Then the Kullback-Leibler distance is employed as a new similarity measure between the target model and the target candidate. Its corresponding weight computation and new location expressions are derived. On the basis of these works, we propose a new small target tracking algorithm using mean shift framework. The tracking experiments for real world video sequences show that the proposed algorithm can track the target successively and accurately. It can successfully track very small targets with only 6X12 pixels.

Security being the major concern during data transfers; we have various challenges to face. The requirements of the security model vary depending on the type of data to be encrypted. Considering small size of data the requirements change from the existing security encryption techniques. One of the major issues to be considered is the computational speed of the encryption model. Though there are many challenging encryption algorithms, which provide high level of security, they increase the level of execution time for encryption. Cost effectiveness of the encryption algorithm is also another main concern for determining the efficiency of the algorithm. The computational time of the algorithms have a major impact on the determining the cost effectiveness. In this paper, we propose an enhanced cost effective symmetric key algorithm for small amount of data.

data association in tracking multiple targets is of vital importance for airborne surveillance radar. Multiple hypotheses tracking (MHT) is generally accepted as the preferred method for solving the data association problem in modern multiple-target tracking (MTT) systems. However, there are usually too many hypotheses to process slowly. In this paper, map information has been used to prevent unnecessary MHT track branches and improve the state estimator. The simulation results show that this new algorithm improves tracking performance in realistic environment and effectively brings down the number of track branches, while reducing largely calculating time with better accuracy.

This paper presents a new method for detecting small moving targets from consecutive image sequences. Image sequences are processed to detect targets, assuming that the data samples have been spatially registered. Firstly, Maximum Value Projection and normalization are utilized to reduce the data samples and reject the background clutter. Then, targets are detected using connected component analysis. At last, the velocities of the targets are estimated by centroid localization and least-square regression. A sliding neighborhood operation is performed before target detection. It can greatly reduce the computation while preserving as much target information as possible. The experimental results indicate that this method can efficiently detect the small moving targets and accurately track their traces. Both centroid locating precision and tracking accuracy are within a pixel.

This paper deals with the problem of automatic target classification or Through-the-Wall radar imaging. The proposed scheme considers stationary objects in enclosed structures and works on the SAR image rather than the raw data. It comprises segmentation, feature extraction based on superquadrics, and classification. We present a recursive splitting tree to obtain optimum parameters for feature extraction. Support vector machines and nearest neighbor classifiers are then applied to successfully classify among different indoor targets. The classification methods are tested and evaluated using real data generated from synthetic aperture Through-the-Wall radar imaging experiments.

This paper discusses the infrared small targets detection and tracking problem. Based on mathematical morphology, the Soft mathematical morphology filter can filters out the local catastrophe points, but at the same time the noise is also enhance, and morphology TOP-HAT filter performs better than Soft mathematical morphology filter, but it can not locate the target preciously. Combing these two methods, improved TOP-HAT Soft Morphological Filter is built to solve the target detection problem in infrared images. Towards tracking in sequential images, an Sequential Probabilistic Ratio Test method (SPRT) is introduced to the Probabilistic Multiple Hypothetic Tracking (PMHT) algorithm to form a SPRT-PMHT tracking algorithm. This new algorithm can solve the initialization and track management problem which is a puzzle in former PMHT algorithms. Besides, the post data association probability is revised to improve the precision of PMHT. Simulations with real infrared image proves that Improved TOP-HAT Soft Morphological Filter, together with round structure element, has a better detection and robustness ability and SPRT-PMH does a good job on target tracking and track management, they together compose an effective infrared small targets detection and tracking system.

Full-waveform LiDAR is an active remote sensing technique that provides the scattering properties of the targets i.e. amplitude and echo width (EW) in addition to 3D point clouds. The amplitude provides information on the target's reflectance and the EW is a measure for the range variation of scatterers within the laser footprint contributing to a single echo and is, therefore, an indicator for surface roughness. For the delineation of high vegetation (i.e. trees and bushes) and buildings the normalized digital surface model provides the main input. Based on a height threshold, areas covered with elevated objects can be classified. For the differentiation between buildings and high vegetation the surface roughness is used, where roofs are assumed to be smooth and vegetation rough. The surface roughness can be described with the standard deviation (SD) of detrended LiDAR points. However, for low LiDAR point densities and for very dense deciduous forests or building parts overgrown with tree crowns the separability is limited if only the SD is used. Within the presented approach additionally the EW, featuring small values for smooth roof areas, and the echo ratio (ER), a measure for the penetrability of a surface, are used. For the final delineation of high vegetation and building areas morphologic operations are applied. The classified areas are vectorized and a minimum mapping unit is applied. The presented workflow is implemented into the scientific software package OPALS (Orientation and processing of Airborne Laser Scanning data). The results show that the EW, the SD and the ER are useful quantities to delineate high vegetation and building polygons based on full-waveform LiDAR point clouds with high accuracy. The high degree of automation and the scripting capability OPALS promise a high potential for operational large area LiDAR data processing. Examples from different test sites in Austria are shown and discussed.

The recent advances in sensor technologies have made these small, tiny devices much cheaper and convenient to use in many different applications, for example, the weather and environmental monitoring fields. the hospital and factory operation sites, on the traffic road and moving vehicles and so on. data loss and corruption is inevitable in wireless sensor networks due to the wireless interference, limited sensor power and outlier from malicious electronic devices and so on. Therefore, before processing sensor data in different wireless sensor network applications, certain data cleaning steps need to be performed to ensure the data quality, such as dealing with outliers, missing sensor readings. and noisy data. In this paper, we discuss the issues need to be considered in the data cleaning steps of this integrated data cleaning model for signal processing in wireless sensor networks. We also present an integrated model for data cleaning on signal processing systems in wireless sensor network to deal with different data cleaning problems.

The data disaster recovery system which based on fiber channel or remote data center is so costly. So the system does not appropriate to data security protection of small enterprises. The paper presents a distributed recovery method which based on remote data disaster recovery, and this method has some features including lower cost, deployment flexibility, high security etc. The data of application system is first intercepted by the Undo agent, and after the redundancy processing, finally it is stored in the distributed network storage system. In order to back up the discrete information of system, the Undo-manager sends a time signal to drive snapshoot device and sets restore points, at the same time, the captured data packets are analyzed by the system, according to the syntax and semantic, the system restores the action, system status, data and so on. When the data errors or data missing occurs, Undo-agent will take the whole into account and then drive snapshoot device to restore the checkpoints. The data which occurs after the checkpoint will replay by the verb restore module, in this way, the restoration of both coarse and fine grain and the normal running of recovered system are guaranteed.

Adaptive detection for distributed target or targets in non-homogeneous environments is studied in this paper. It is assumed that the covariance matrix of the secondary data M s is a random matrix following inverse Wishart distribution with its conditional expectation proportional to that of the primary data, i.e. E(M s | M p )= γM p . Firstly, the maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) of M p , γ and target amplitudes are given and the generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) are proposed subsequently, which turns out to be in the form of the summed adaptive coherence estimator (ACE). The detector is coincident with the generalized adaptive subspace detector (GASD) based on deterministic unknown covariance matrix and it has CFAR property. When the target exists only in one range bin, the detector is boiled down into the ACE based on the partial homogeneous environments.
