A data-driven model order reduction technique for fast frequency sweep in computationally intensive full-wave solution in large finite frequency selective surfaces is detailed. A hybrid Boundary Integral-Finite Element Domain Decomposition Method is addressed to accurately predict the electromagnetic behavior of these structures. A reduced-order model is built up by means of output data provided by the electromagnetic solver, which is used as a black box as regards the model order reduction process. A Loewner matrix approach is taken into account to provide a tangential interpolation to S parameter output data. As a result, a dynamical system representation fitting the simulation data is obtained, and further electromagnetic insight can be earned from this system representation.

The design of yachts and boats can significantly benefit from simulation-driven design (SDD) using codes of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). In SDD a large number of virtual prototypes is investigated numerically for key objectives. In hydro- and aerodynamics objectives often relate to resistance and lift which govern the performance of both sailing yachts and fast motor boats. In order to reduce the dimensionality of the design space, i.e., the degrees-of-freedom, a parametric approach is utilized. For the flow simulation different levels of fidelity are used, ranging from potential flow analysis to viscous flow simulation solving the RANS equations. Design examples applying the SDD approach will be presented for both a sailing yacht and a motor boat. The sailing yacht is a 20m catamaran for worldwide travel and the motor boat is a 6m planing boat for day cruises. Parametric models for the two vessels will be discussed, comprising the generation of surfaces and watertight tri-meshes, the latter of which can be fed to the CFD code of choice. Here SHIPFLOW (R) and FINE (TM)/Marine were applied in connection with CAESES (R) which provided both the shapes and the integration of CFD for SDD. To close the simulationdriven design cycle of the sailing catamaran an appended version of the parametric model with rudders and daggerboard is used for virtual tank testing. Combining these results with a suitable sail model allows for an accurate velocity prediction (VPP) in an early design stage.

The modern workplace is driven by a high amount of available information which can be observed in various domains, e. g., in Industry 4.0. Hence, the question arises: Which competences do actors need to build and efficient work environment? This paper proposes an simulationbased optimization approach to adapt role configurations for team work scenarios. The approach was tested using a multiagent-based job-shop-scheduling model to simulate the effects of various role configurations.

The numerical simulation on the lubrication of the complex gearbox was studied and an optimization for its injection lubrication system was carried out. Firstly, a pair of high speed gear test bench was built and related experiments were completed. The experimental results verified the correctness of the numerical simulationmodeling method. Then the numerical model of the injection lubrication of the complex gear box was established, the simulation analysis was carried out. The results show that the overlong injection distance, the angle of the end face and the arrangement of the nozzle in the out of mesh side are not good for lubrication. And there is a trace in the center plane of the two meshing gear, along which the ejected oil will be under the least impact of the high speed airflow that driven by the rotating gears. When the nozzle axis is in the direction of the trace, the gear lubrication condition is the best.

In a polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA) production, optimized fermentation process helps in reducing overall cost by increasing productivity. Dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration influences growth rate which in turn affect the PHA production rate. Data driven technique using artificial neural network (ANN) is beneficial as process data based on real conditions are used. In this paper, we propose the use of particle swarm optimization (PSO) method in artificial neural network (ANN) model to determine the optimal number of neurons in hidden layer for modelling dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration in PHA fermentation process. The neural network is modelled using real production data from a pilot scale 200L fed-batch bioreactor. A comparison between the proposed ANN-PSO and ANN is provided. simulation result shows that ANN-PSO eliminates the need for time consuming repeated runs and able to obtain similar number of optimal hidden neuron with improved model accuracy.

Energy conservation through voltage reduction methodology is becoming popular now a days. Enabling of conservation of voltage reduction (CVR) through smart grid technologies makes informal and effective way. However, the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) in active distribution grids are facing some operational issues. Moreover, the enabling of CVR through conventional schemes are restricted with limited voltage reduction and unable to cope up during intermittency. This paper proposes a model predictive driven Volt/VAR Control (VVC) scheme for smart grid enabled CVR operation in presence of solar photovoltaic (PV) power system. The impact of uncertainty in PV power generation and error in load forecasting are incorporated in predictive model. Scenario based Volt/VAR optimization (VVO) approach is utilized to CVR deployment. The VVO objective is to minimize the voltage deviations between load node voltage and expected CVR voltage. The VVO problem is solved through particle swarm optimization. In order to avoid the voltage violation due to cloud transients, PV inverter-based VAR has been dispatched as a local voltage control. The proposed CVR method is validated on modified IEEE 13 node feeder of radial distribution network. The simulation results revels that the remarkable energy demand and peak load power is reduced through proposed CVR scheme with suitable feeder voltage profile.
