This study presents a cost-effective approach to constructing simulation systems by integrating 2D visualprocessing with neural network technology for simultaneous 3D point cloud generation and part segmentation, thereby reducing time and costs. We propose multiple task-specific models using 2D RGB images, incorporating attention mechanisms, feature encoding, decoding layers, and innovative loss functions. The optimal models are merged to form an integrated system, evaluated using public and self-built datasets. Our experiments demonstrate that the integrated model effectively reduces training time and Floating Point Operations (FLOP) values while maintaining high accuracy in Critical Hole Distance (CHD), Earth Mover’s Distance (EMD), and Intersection over Union (IOU) metrics. This advancement enhances applications in military training, aerospace technology, and disaster response simulation, facilitating faster 3D object construction.

In this paper, a novel steganographic method based on joint photographic expert-group (JPEG) is proposed. The proposed method embeds two secret bits into each middle frequency coefficient using the least two-significant bits (2- LSBs). For the rest coefficients, the quantization error, resulting from processing the JPEG-compressed image, is compensated while embedding variable-length secret bits. At last, a JPEG stego-image is generated using the quality factor with the value of 100. Experimental results show that, the proposed steganographic method can provide a high information hiding capacity and keep the visual quality well.

We present a computational model of contour processing that was suggested by neurophysiological recordings from the monkey visual cortex. The model employs convolutions and nonlinear operations, but no feedback loops. Contours are defined by the local maxima of the responses of a contour operator that sums a representation of contrast borders and a "grouping signal". The grouping consists in convolving a representation of "key points", such as T-junctions, corners, and line ends, with a set of orientation selective kernels, and a nonlinear pairing operation. The grouping scheme is selective according to whether the configuration of key points is consistent with the interpretation of occlusion. The resulting contour representation includes an indicator of figure ground direction. We show: that the model reproduces illusory contours in accurate agreement with perception; and generates representations of occluding contours on images of natural scenes that are more complete and less cluttered by spurious connections of foreground and background than those obtained by conventional edge detection operators.

Electronic holography is an ideal 3D display technique to ameliorate vergence-accommodation conflict, which is a possible cause of visual fatigue and discomfort from viewing conventional stereoscopic 3D displays. Previous studies have measured accommodative and vergence responses to holographic images and real objects, and reported that they are in good agreement. To demonstrate the effectiveness of electronic holography as a solution of vergence-accommodation conflict caused by viewing conventional stereoscopic 3D displays, we measured accommodative and vergence responses to reconstructed images of holograms and two-view stereoscopic images. We also measured responses to real objects located at various distances as a baseline condition. The results indicate that the accommodative response to the electro-holographic display changes with the vergence response in a similar manner, as is the case with real objects as compared to conventional two-view stereo display. This suggests that the holographic display technology is a promising candidate for resolving the vergence-accommodation conflict.

We designed a real time moving object extraction and behavior analysis system to detect if any abnormal behavior like intrusion, halt, and wall climbing happened. Much work in the area of motion based video object segmentation is being done in the pixel domain which exploits the visual attributes and motion information. Given most existing images and videos stored in the compressed form, the specific manipulation algorithms can be applied to the compressed streams without full decoding of the compressed images/videos. In this paper, we could produce motion masks from I and P frames in MPEG video. Then, motion vectors decoded directly from P frames could be utilized to do object extraction. By clustering motion vectors conforming to the same motion, we could extract the moving regions. If moving regions are connected closely and of the same direction, they are claimed to be of the same moving object. Following the motion vectors in consecutive P frames, we could track the moving objects. A confidence is defined from these matched blocks. Finally, a couple of criterions are defined for object behavior analysis whether they intrude a monitored area, halt on road, or climb wall. Experimental results are given to demonstrate the feasibility of our system.
