Creating and editing multi-dimensional data visualizations with current tools typically involves complex interactions. We present VizInteract, an interactive data visualization tool for touch-enabled displays. VizInteract supports efficient multi-touch data exploration through rapid construction of and interaction with multi-dimensional data visualizations. Building on primitive visualization idioms like histograms, VizInteract addresses the need for easy data exploration by facilitating the construction of multi-dimensional visualizations, such as scatter plots, parallel coordinate plots, radar charts, and scatter plot matrices, through simple multi-touch actions. Touch-based brushing-and-linking as well as attribute-based filter bubbles support "diving into the data" during analysis. We present the results of two explorative studies, one on a tablet and another on a large touchscreen and analyze the usage patterns that emerge while participants conducted visual analytics data exploration tasks in both conditions.

The exploration of deep learning techniques for multimodal predictive maintenance in automated production lines is undertaken, presenting a hybrid model that synergizes Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for visual analytics and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks for temporal sensor data processing. The CNN is designed to pinpoint signs of deterioration and anomalies within visual inputs, while the LSTM extracts predictive patterns from sensor data that indicate equipment failure. Drawing upon a blend of publicly accessible sensor datasets from reputable sources such as the UCI Machine Learning Repository and Kaggle, enriched by an exclusive collection of imagery from a diverse set of 100 Chinese assembly plants, the integrated analysis from both models results in a comprehensive predictive mechanism for equipment malfunction. This pioneering method is intended to enhance the operational efficiency and precision of automated assembly processes through the empowerment of pre-emptive maintenance actions.

Today's manufacturing industry is shaped by the Industry 4.0 vision, which is to increase the number of individual goods produced while minimizing the production costs and time. To increase the production outcome and quality, users need to continuously monitor and adjust the entire process. While the recent advances in sensor technology can help users to collect, produce and exchange data, human beings are often overwhelmed by the amount of data being collected. Still, the human visual system is a powerful tool that can be used to decode and process large datasets. To make intelligent use of this ability, we have developed an interactive visual data analysis tool called ADAM that can support production data exploration in the aluminum industry. Furthermore, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our tool using real production data and present insights which could be gained from use of our tool by domain experts.

In response to the highly volatile industry situation post-Covid19, E&P companies are abandoning or delaying exploration projects. It is anticipated that to meet growing energy demand in the future, it would require robust reservoir surveillance to improve individual well productivity. Production logging plays a key role in developing reservoir flow characterization and its integration with multiple data sources can allow for a holistic well dynamic description, leading to production enhancement on a well-by-well basis. Multiple case studies are presented in this work that propose a data-driven, integrated workflow which combines production logging data with plethora of under-utilized data sources to constitute an investigative analysis to solve water production conundrum. The workflow developed as part of this work incorporates three distinct stages. Firstly, an in-depth data analysis is conducted utilizing all historical production data/trends and well events to link it with water production as each will have its distinct impact on the type of production logging tools/techniques that would be deployed on the subject well to achieve job objectives. Secondly, real-time production logging is conducted to ensure job objectives as defined in stage one is being met which is crucial to the resultant wellbore zonal profiling. Finally, once the production log visual representation is created, various other open-hole petrophysical and cased-hole well integrity logs are analyzed to make sense of the derived results and suggest reasoning to the state of the reservoir production pertaining to producing water. The case studies discussed in this paper include the use of petrophysical logs, MDT formation testing data, ultrasonic cement evaluation logs, and production log time-lapse analysis. Investigation of social networks formed by individuals in various contexts provides numerous interesting and important challenges for researchers and practitioners in multiple disciplines. Within the field of variationist sociolinguistics, social networks are analyzed in order to reveal the patterns of language variation and change while taking the social, cultural, and geographical aspects into account. In this field, traditional approaches usually focusing on small, manually collected data sets can be complemented with computational methods and large digital data sets extracted from online social network and social media sources. However, increasing data size does not immediately lead to the qualitative improvement in the understanding of such data. In this position paper, we propose to address this issue by a joint effort combining variationist sociolinguistics and computational network analyses with information visualization and visual analytics. In order to lay the foundation for this interdisciplinary collaboration, we analyse the previous relevant work and discuss the challenges related to operationalization, processing, and exploration of such social networks and associated data. As the result, we propose a roadmap towards realization of visual sociolinguistic network analysis.

Flight test generates massive flight test data. At this stage, in view of the difficulties in lookup specific data, the lack of correlation with flight test tasks, and the problem that data cannot be saved for a long time, this paper proposes a flight test data asset management and application framework based on cloud computing. With the dynamic allocation of cluster computing and storage resources of the virtualization platform, an integration framework for flight test data management and application is constructed, which has the functions of high speed download, persistent storage, business perspective classification and configuration analysis of the flight test data. It also has the functions of data quality inspection and sharing through selfdefined regulation database. Based on the development of flight test data management and application framework, the download, analysis, calculation and comparative analysis of flight test data are realized. Also, the visual playback of the whole process can be realized by means of 3D map and simulation instrument. The fully exploration of the value of flight test data is finally achieved.

Exclusion analysis in life insurance stands out as a crucial task in minimizing customer risks. Numerous insur-ance companies have implemented artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to streamline processes and mitigate customer-related risks, specifically leveraging machine learning (ML) technolo-gies. While some studies have acknowledged its significance, there needs to be more to deliver comprehensive research on exclusion analysis utilizing advanced techniques. Thus, this paper focuses on exclusion classification blending with visual interactive systems (Vis), aiming to comprehend data obtained from customer disclosure information. To tackle this challenge, 1) we initiate the investigation by employing various multi-label classifiers, 2) apply several ML techniques, utilizing data from a prominent Australian insurance company, where support vector classification (SVC) and random forest (RF) emerges as the superior performer, and 3) we introduce a visual interactive system called Exclusion Vis, meticulously crafted to facilitate in-depth exploration of the obtained results. The evaluation of Exclusion Vis further underscores its superiority compared to existing systems.

Some studies have shown that air pollution is one of the important risk factors for human health. In order to find out the transmission mode, space-Time patterns, main pollution causes and potential mode of air pollution, we analyzed the multi-granularity and multi-dimensional data, and designed a visual analysis scheme of air pollution data, which integrated time, space and relevant factors, and used many kinds of visual charts, including map, calendar chart, single axis scatter chart and so on. Based on these, a data-driven visual analysis system is designed and implemented, and a variety of visual analysis models are established. The interactive methods such as filtering, scaling and exploration can assist users to carry out the data analysis tasks such as data overview, key data tracking, comparing of correlation, analytic reasoning, hypothesis testing and potential mode discovery, and realize the analysis of key causes, spatiotemporal evolution and transmission mode of air pollution. The system is simple and efficient, which can provide valuable reference for in-depth analysis of air pollution data and evaluation of air pollution control measures. © 2021 ACM.
