Video-Language Pretraining (VLP), which aims to learn transferable representation to advance a wide range of video-text downstream tasks, has recently received increasing attention. Best performing works rely on large-scale, 3rd-person video-text datasets, such as HowTo100M. In this work, we exploit the recently released Ego4D dataset to pioneer Egocentric VLP along three directions. (i) We create EgoClip, a 1st-person video-text pretraining dataset comprising 3.8M clip-text pairs well-chosen from Ego4D, covering a large variety of human daily activities. (ii) We propose a novel pretraining objective, dubbed EgoNCE, which adapts video-text contrastive learning to the egocentric domain by mining egocentric-aware positive and negative samples. (iii) We introduce EgoMCQ, a development benchmark that is close to EgoClip and hence can support effective validation and fast exploration of our design decisions in EgoClip and EgoNCE. Furthermore, we demonstrate strong performance on five egocentric downstream tasks across three datasets: video-text retrieval on EPIC-KITCHENS-100;action recognition on Charades-Ego;natural language query, moment query, and object state change classification on Ego4D challenge benchmarks. Paper deals with the implementation of video streaming from multiple sources with integration of multimedia archive of stream and videoconference recordings. The overall chain for multisource livestream ability in web environment will be described related to interconnection from processing the various inputs from video source encoder (cameras, room systems or also VAV), via transportation of stream through streaming server, delivering live video on web-based player to viewers and processing the recording in archive. All these functions were implemented in the resulting integrated portal in real heterogenous environment of large National telepresence infrastructure (NTI) partially located on Slovak Academic Network (SANET). © 2022 IEEE.

After successful implementation of Lab-on-a-chip technology in chemical and biomedical applications, the field of petroleum engineering is currently developing microfluidics as a platform to complement traditional core flooding experiments. Potentially microfluidics can offer a fast, efficient and low-cost method to screen many variables like flooding brine composition, reservoir temperature and aging history. We addressed this potential for the waterflooding of carbonate rocks. Using thermostated glass micro- models with rock-inspired 'dual depth' pore geometries as a basis, we explored i) introduction of calcite chemistry into the chip, ii) monitoring of changes in fluid composition and iii) quantification the residual oil from visualization. The development aspects of these efforts are the scope of the present paper. Glass microchannels were functionalized by firmly attaching calcite nanoparticles to the inner surfaces and expanding them via seeded growth. Optical microcopy allowed to monitor the calcite distribution if the particles were not covered with crude oil (CRO). The calcite coating density could be steered, but also showed variability within the chip and between chips. Measurement of residual oil saturation (ROS) from optical microscopy is more challenging in the presence of calcite particles, due to their darker appearance. However, comparing the dynamic intensity of individual pixels with those in CRO- and brine-filled chips, allowed us to not only accommodate the calcite-induced optical differences, but also to find a correlation between calcite coverage and ROS. Our developed data analysis scheme, based on mask overlaying and image registration, also allows a sensitive monitoring of ROS, for both short (30 s) and long times (8 days) using low (2X) magnification Additionally captured high-resolution (10X) images reveal vital details underlying the global oil displacement. In the rapidly evolving landscape of social networks, understanding the multifaceted nature of human interactions and the dissemination of information is pivotal. This paper introduces a novel approach to dynamic knowledge representation through the development of Multi-Layered Ontology Models tailored for Social Network analysis (SNA). With the rapid development of information technology such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing, big data of higher education has received a lot of attention. This article uses the visual software Citespace from 2013 to 2022 to research higher education in big data in the Web of Science database. Through visual analysis, and uses of the keyword co-occurrence function and cluster analysis function, this article clarifies the main research directions, key documents, hotspots, and limitations in the field of big data in higher education, education big data technology, learning behavior analysis, learning style exploration, education resource management, and personalized teaching reform are the development direction and research hotspots. This article can provide readers and other researchers with some references and help.

OBJECTIVE: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is regarded as one of the most common endocrine-metabolic disorders among women of reproductive age, characterized by the complexity of its etiology, the interplay of multiple factors, and its polygenic nature. This paper utilizes the rigorous research methodology of traditional Chinese medicine network pharmacology to conduct an in-depth exploration of the potential mechanisms of action of modified Siwu Decoction in the treatment of PCOS. METHODS:In this study, we first identified the key components of Siwu Decoction using the TCMSP database, and subsequently conducted a meticulous screening of potential targets utilizing the SwissTargetPrediction database. Relevant targets for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) were comprehensively collected from multiple authoritative databases including GeneCards, Therapeutic Target database, OMIM, DisGeNET, and The Pharmacogenomics Knowledgebase. Subsequently, the overlapping portion of these two datasets was visually presented through a Venn diagram and imported into the String database to construct a protein-protein interaction network. Using the plugin function of Cytoscape 3.10.1 software, we conducted an in-depth analysis of this network and successfully identified ten core targets. Furthermore, we employed tools provided by the DAVID database and the Microbiotics website to perform an extensive Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis on the overlapping genes. Additionally, to validate the specific interaction mechanism between drug components and targets, we conducted molecular docking experiments using AutoDockTools 1.5.6 ***: After analysis, we found that there are 290 common points between drug targets and disease-related targets. This paper investigates the effects of the training process on the classification accuracy for a steady-state motion visual evoked potentials (SSMVEP)-based brain-computer interface (BCI) paradigm. An SSMVEP-based BCI works similar to SSVEP with the main difference that the stimulus is smoothly changing its appearance, with a continuous motion, leading to less user fatigue. Typical SSMVEP classification utilises correlation algorithms to compare the incoming Electroencephalography (EEG) data with a sine-cosine template. To increase the classification performance of BCI algorithms, collecting user training data has been a common practice recently, usually for template-matching detection algorithms. The incoming EEG data are compared with an individually created template from the user's own pre-recorded EEG response to the stimulus. In this offline study, previously recorded data (3 s of training EEG data), which were collected during an online experiment with 86 participants, were used. Task-related component analysis (TRCA), a state of the art classification method, was modified with the spatial filter W generated by the canonical-correlation analysis (CCA). The TRCA and the sine+cosine templates were compared. The cross paradigm utilisation of the training data was also investigated, e.g. the TRCA model built from SSVEP training data was used to classify the SSMVEP data and vice versa. Results show a significant difference in favour of the usage of the training data over the sine-cosine template for the SSMVEP paradigm classification. A cross-paradigm validation shows promising results (accuracy >70%) for a time window of 1.5 s, similar to the sine+cosine templates. The trained TRCA models achieved an accuracy of 94% and 97% for the SSMVEP and SSVEP paradigms, respectively, in the mentioned time window. Overall, we conclude that training can significantly improve the SSMVEP target classification.

In recent years, much attention has been given to various eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) and interpretability methods. Their extension to dense prediction tasks, however, has been underexplored. Gradient-based saliency maps, highlighting feature importance in terms of input pixels, have been frequently used as fast and simple visual explanation techniques. Nonetheless, they face several problems, and the exploration of different types of attribution methods is warranted. In this paper, we investigate gradient-free semantic segmentation explanations that are based on ablating activation maps. We explore their potential for industrial applications, specifically for fruit pitting machines. We also extend the application of Ablation-CAM, a gradient-free ablation-based interpretability technique, to semantic segmentation. Finally, we discuss the sensitivity of activation maps to partial occlusions of either the foreground or the background class regions.

In this paper we describe a visualization tool for representing the dynamics of graph algorithms. Toward this end, we designed a web-based framework which illustrates the dynamics as time-to-space mappings of dynamic graphs. Such static diagrams of dynamic data have the benefit of being able to display longer time spans in one view, hence supporting the observer with comparison tasks. The tool can show details about how an algorithm traverses a graph step-by-step in a static and animated fashion, for graph algorithm exploration as well as educational purposes. The animation together with the time-to-space mapping forms an overview-and-detail approach. By using flight carrier data from the U.S. Department of Transportation we show the usefulness of our interactive visualization for conveying graph algorithm dynamics. © 2021 ACM.

Railway transportation is closely linked to everyday lives while also aiding domain experts in analyzing national or regional development. However, discrepancies between travel time reduced by railways and actual distance pose challenges in visualizing the accessibility. Existing methods either struggle to simultaneously depict the accessibility relationships among all cities or disregard genuine geographical positions, leading to spatial cognitive confusion. In this work, we propose a novel approach to balance between the geographical positions and travel time between cities. We construct linear cartograms to represent accessibility while preserving better local railway network structures compared with existing methods. We further propose the A-Map system, enabling users to interactively explore the extensive development of China’s railway system over decades. We validate the effectiveness of our proposed layout algorithm from qualitative metric evaluation and illustrate the applicability of our system with results.
