Although extensive methods have been proposed for Generalized Zero-shot Learning (GZSL), studies are still scarce for GZSL with unreliable data, which is a common issue in real circumstances. In this paper, we introduce a new problem of Generalized Zero-shot Learning with Unreliable Semantics (GZSL-US), based on which we study the GZSL under the partially ambiguous or even missing semantics. To address such a problem, we present a unified generative framework named Adversarial Bidirectional Feature Generation (ABFG), which introduces two extra operations, namely Bidirectional Matching (BM) and Adversary Injection (AI), to the basic generation process. The BM is to guarantee the consistency of the visual and semantic spaces by matching them with a learned metric, which alleviates the domain bias problem in GZSL. Meanwhile, AI is not only introduced for further exploiting the sampling space, but also for endowing the model with a strong resistance ability to semantic interference. The experimental results of Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based and Variational AutoEncoder (VAE)-based ABFG instances on four popular benchmarks not only prove the superior robustness of ABFG to the unreliable semantics but also demonstrate the encouraging GZSL performances in comparison with the state-of-the-arts.

In the realm of image processing, the ability to describe an image accurately and comprehensively is paramount. Images, whether captured by cameras, generated by computers, or obtained through various means, contain a wealth of information waiting to be analyzed and understood. Among the key elements defining an image, two stand out prominently: color and form. Each of these components plays a crucial role in shaping our perception and interpretation of visual data. Our team has crafted a CBIR system enhanced by a duo of machine learning algorithms and various clustering techniques alongside low-level image feature extraction methods. These components converge to formulate a Nash game, thereby presenting us with a multi-criteria optimization challenge. In tackling this challenge, we've devised a In this two-player static Nash game, each player employs a unique strategy, specifically color moments and shape moments, corresponding to their objective functions. The Nash equilibrium is represented by the membership classes assigned to the query image. Looking ahead, we intend to replace the Zernike moments with a neural network approach and thoroughly compare the two methods concerning time and efficiency

This study’s Cloud Forensics analysis Framework seeks secure and effective data recovery methods. The framework’s five strategies make digital evidence retrieval methodical and versatile. These include adaptive evidence collecting, secure data retrieval, machine learning-based anomaly detection, intelligent automation, and context-aware metadata analysis. Each approach targets a distinct forensic process step. This makes cloud forensics investigations seem difficult. Tree ensembles can be well-suited for black-box optimization tasks such as algorithm tuning and neural architecture search, as they achieve good predictive performance with little or no manual tuning, naturally handle discrete feature spaces, and are relatively insensitive to outliers in the training data. Two well-known challenges in using tree ensembles for black-box optimization are (i) effectively quantifying model uncertainty for exploration and (ii) optimizing over the piece-wise constant acquisition function. To address both points simultaneously, we propose using the kernel interpretation of tree ensembles as a Gaussian Process prior to obtain model variance estimates, and we develop a compatible optimization formulation for the acquisition function. The latter further allows us to seamlessly integrate known constraints to improve sampling efficiency by considering domain-knowledge in engineering settings and modeling search space symmetries, e.g., hierarchical relationships in neural architecture search. Our framework performs as well as state-of-the-art methods for unconstrained black-box optimization over continuous/discrete features and outperforms competing methods for problems combining mixed-variable feature spaces and known input constraints.

Audio-driven talking head synthesis is a critical task in digital human modeling. While recent advances using diffusion models and Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) have improved visual quality, they often require substantial computational resources, limiting practical deployment. We present a novel framework for audio-driven talking head synthesis, namely Hierarchically Controlled Deformable 3D Gaussians (HiCoDe), which achieves state-of-the-art performance with significantly reduced computational costs. Our key contribution is a hierarchical control strategy that effectively bridges the gap between sparse audio features and dense 3D Gaussian point clouds. Specifically, this strategy comprises two control levels: i) coarse-level control based on a 3D Morphable Model (3DMM) and ii) fine-level control using facial landmarks. Extensive experiments on the HDTF dataset and additional test sets demonstrate that our method outperforms existing approaches in visual quality, facial landmark accuracy, and audio-visual synchronization while being more computationally efficient in both training and inference. Feature selection is a pivotal component of machine learning and data analysis, to optimize model performance by eliminating irrelevant and redundant features, to address the challenges associated with the “curse of dimensionality” and interpretability. In this context, we present feature selection as a multi-objective binary optimization task with the dual aim of maximizing classification accuracy while minimizing the number of selected features. In order to address this optimization challenge, we introduce the Multi-objective Binary Differential Evolution algorithm (MOBDE). It's worth noting that DE originally is an extremely powerful real-value coded algorithm, and to make it binary, set-based operators must replace vector-based operations. Optimization in binary space is deemed more suitable than real-value optimization because a many-to-one mapping can waste the efforts of the optimizer when solving a binary problem like feature selection. The algorithm leverages a partial opposition-based binary operator to generate diverse solutions to enhance its exploration within the search space. Additionally, it incorporates a majority voting mechanism as a local search strategy to bolster the algorithm's exploitation capabilities. Results from experimentation on eleven datasets underscore the efficiency of MOBDE, outperforming the widely recognized NSGA-ii method in terms of the hypervolume (HV) performance metric and minimizing the number of selected features. The proposed algorithm and its experimental outcomes are comprehensively detailed and analyzed, offering valuable insights into its efficacy for feature selection tasks.

The study of such a complex phenomenon as cancer, which depends on several but unexplored and unclear factors, needs new ways to visualize, analyze and combine different data both on species characteristics and genes function. To this respect, we propose a novel platform, named VarCopy, supporting visual Exploratory data analysis (EDA) in the context of Copy Number Variation (CNV) data. The platform will be publicly available as a web application soon, and is, to our best knowledge, the first tool allowing visual, interactive exploration and analysis of the CNV landscape of multiple species, allowing the identification of new target genes that might be useful for biomedical research.

In real-time multi-robot teleoperation, the operator faces a challenge of maintaining sufficient awareness of all robots in a team. We propose a novel approach to supporting operators, in instances where operators switch between controlling or observing multiple robots in a team. Just as how cinema or video games use visual and narrative techniques to support viewers when transitioning between scenes, we argue that multi-robot teleoperation interfaces should likewise leverage this transition time to provide pertinent information. That is, when switching to a new robot, the interface should take the opportunity to bring the operator up to speed, highlighting what happened while they were away, what current robot states are, and what specifics of the new robot being controlled are;thus, supporting situational awareness. In this paper, we outline this agenda and present our initial exploration and analysis of this informative visual transition.
