The study's main objective was to conduct a heterogeneity analysis to understand the nature of the complex carbonate reservoirs by integrating geological, and petrophysical parameters to comprehend the different types of facies and their effect on reservoir characteristics. The approach utilizes borehole electrical images to measure the extent and type of the vuggy fraction, porosity dissemination, and its impact on reservoir quality. The heterogeneity analysis of reservoirs from borehole images is carried out using proprietary software that examines the resistivity spectrum to extract information on porosity, layering and other heterogeneities to quantify, characterize and provide a distribution of these relevant heterogeneities. Several iterations are needed to optimize parameters. Each iteration is validated by comparing core data, and density-neutron x-plots with a visual examination of the images to see whether all heterogeneities are identified. Single-depth histograms were generated from the derived porosity spectrum to show the distribution of primary and secondary porosity. The Upper Shuaiba Member (USH) is the main pay zone in the Daleel field in northern Oman and is subdivided into 5 layers comprising of A, B, C, D, and E of which layers D and layer E are the most productive. These layers consist of thinly bedded bioclastic packstones and wackestones. The exploration development of the Daleel field requires knowledge of the composition and collocation of these various layers in the sedimentary system. Our method consists of several steps that combine a probabilistic image analysis with petrophysical properties to derive electrical facies based on the texture, heterogeneity, resistivity spectrum, fracture identification, and petrophysical properties. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) within the manufacturing sector, with a focus on the critical areas of quality, maintenance, and production. Despite the increasing integration of XAI in industrial applications, a bibliometric exploration of its impact across these specific dimensions remains uncharted. Our study fills this gap by employing bibliometric methods to map the landscape of XAI research in manufacturing, analyzing publication patterns and thematic evolutions. Understanding this landscape is crucial, as it not only highlights the current state and trajectory of XAI applications in manufacturing but also identifies key areas where further innovation and investigation can significantly enhance efficiency, transparency, and decision-making processes in the industry. Utilizing the Bibliometrix R-package and data from the Scopus database, we analyze 107 publications from 2019 to 2024. We chart the intellectual trajectory of XAI, delving into predominant themes and observing a research progression from foundational machine learning to its sophisticated applications, culminating in Industry 4.0 innovations. The analysis reveals an academic landscape where explainability is increasingly intertwined with the technological advances of smart manufacturing, spotlighting key topics and their evolution that reflect the field's dynamic nature. This investigation offers a novel lens on the bibliometric trends shaping the development of transparent, intelligent systems within the manufacturing sector.

The spotlight on large population-based studies is growing within the research community. Epidemiological studies, amassing extensive data through questionnaires and check-ups, often include imaging data like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or ultrasonography from numerous participants. This article offers an exploration of several recent epidemiological studies conducted in Germany, addressing not only the intriguing research tasks but also the multifaceted perspectives and challenges of analyzing image data. This includes potential enhancements in imaging technologies, machine learning applications for data analysis, and collaboration between different research disciplines. Key insights into the methodologies, algorithms, and techniques used for processing and interpreting complex imaging data are detailed. The potential of epidemiological image analysis to guide clinical practices and contribute to personalized medicine is also discussed. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, the domain space interaction of subway stations based on computer-aided design has become a new trend. This article takes urban rail transit as an example to explain the importance of using computer to realize functions such as graphics and images. The system uses B/S structure to process graphic information, and stores the results in the server database for later analysis and feedback of changes in user needs. Through the simulation based on virtual sample technology, the effectiveness of the model and algorithm is verified. The visualization coefficient of the subway station domain space guidance system is between 0.7 and 0.9, the accuracy of landmarks is between 96% and 97%, the ease of use is between 84% and 89%, and the system operability is 80% above. Finally, in the computer environment, the interactive interface of the subway station domain space is designed to provide passengers with a better experience. This move means that the space interaction in the subway station has a higher technical level, and has played an important role in improving user satisfaction and convenience. In the research, it was found that the visual interaction method of the subway station spatial guidance system based on computer-aided design can be improved through the following aspects. These data may include passenger flow, train operation status, and safety information, and can be presented in the form of charts, heat maps, and animations. These research findings aim to continuously improve the spatial guidance system of subway station areas, enhance user experience and efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

"Skin Transparency" is an important keyword for women of all generations as one of the conditions for beautiful skin. Although, no one has clear definitions of "Skin Transparency". As it stands, beauty experts are often invited to use visual methods in conducting skin transparency evaluation;however, it has not been still sufficiently clarified which visual properties are related to skin transparency. In this study, we aim to discover the relations between skin image features and sensory evaluations applying real human skin images. Specifically, we investigate "Skin Transparency" by comparing them using the Parallel Coordinate Plots. We observed their complex distributions by the visualization task.

The recent waves of COVID-19 highlighted the importance of understanding and quantifying spatiotemporal interactions to infer, model, and predict disease spread in real time. In this demonstration paper, we present a robust infrastructure for interactive exploration of interregional and international spatiotemporal interactions via time-lagged correlations of increases in COVID-19 incidence. This infrastructure consists of: (i) an operational data store (ODS) coupled with automated scripts for downloading, cleaning, and processing data from heterogeneous sources;(ii) a server application handling on-demand analyses of the database data through a RESTful API;and (iii) a web application providing the interactive dashboard to explore various correlation and geostatistical metrics of the integrated data in spacetime. The environment allows users to study focal spatiotemporal trends and the potential of regions to export and import the virus. Moreover, the application has the potential to reveal the effect of the national border to mitigate the interaction, particularly the spread of the virus. The infrastructure serves COVID-19 data from Germany, Poland, and Czechia, with the possibility of extension to other regions and topics. The dashboard is under active development and accessible on ***/correlation.

Geological structures such as pre-existence of multiple bedding planes (BPs) significantly influence the hydraulic fracture height propagation in shale gas and shale oil reservoirs. Field engineers have also proved that fracture height is much lower than designed via monitoring such as microseismic and DTS/DAS test. In this paper, hydraulic fracturing simulation is studied by injecting fluids into a 1m×1m×1m rock-block sample with multiple thin BPs developed at the in-situ stress condition, and during the operation process, acoustic emission (AE) monitoring is used to obtain the fracture propagation events. After the fracturing physical simulation, we cut the rock sample from three different perspectives and take visual observation of the fracture geometry via fluorescence irradiate. Secondly, we carried out series field data analysis such as fracturing curve history matching, flow-back data analysis and production data analysis, aiming to find the correlation between fluids leak-off rate, flow-back salt concentration, fracture height, fracture complexity and the number of BPs. Results showed that fracture propagation is a competition controlled by stresses and rock BPs. Fracture propagation is generally perpendicular to minimum principal stress while is locally controlled by the rock BPs. It always initial to be vertical fractures near the wellbore area, while as the vertical fracture penetrates the BPs, fracturing fluids would leak into the BPs and form horizontal fractures, lead to slow propagation in height direction and change the final fracture geometry. Fluorescence irradiate also showed fracture propagation can be divided into three modes, directly penetrate the BPs, arrested by the BPs or bifurcate into BPs, and these are mainly depending on the high-angle natural fractures. The results of this study suggest that a significant portion of fracturing fluids could be retained in BPs, which in turn is the reason of fracture height propagation obstruction. In fi

visual Analytics combines human cognitive processes and abilities with computational models to solve complex problems by using the strengths of computers and humans. Decision-making processes are commonly very complex and involve investigating various factors and indicators. By integrating visual Analytics into the decision-making process, the human cognitive load can be reduced, and the accuracy of decisions could be higher. This might be why many visual decision support systems exist, and visual Analytics approaches provide decision support. However, the literature review reveals that there are either structured decision support methods integrating statistical approaches or visual Analytics methods that are commonly designed for exploration, comparison, and analysis to support decision-making. By investigating the core ideas related to human limitations and programmed decision-making, we propose in this paper a novel visual Analytics approach to support structured and exploratory approaches by integrating Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods in visual Analytics. To reduce the common expert judgment in such methods, our approach trains a neural network through the interaction with the system. Our contributions are threefold: providing a systematic view of decision-making processes, discussing the dual paradigms of visual decision support systems, and proposing a visual Analytics approach that leverages MCDM and neural networks for improved decision support.

One of the challenges in the emerging field of computational crime analysis is that of extracting actionable knowledge from heterogeneous (both legal and empirical) information hidden into criminal proceedings. Public prosecutors generally deal with information systems that do not provide advanced information extraction functionalities and that boil down to databases containing complaints, criminal records or police reports. In this paper, we dwell on how information visualization can support knowledge mining in criminal investigations by playing a three-fold role: (a) depicting the structural and qualitative features of both criminal organizations and their members;(b) showing the evolution of criminal networks over time;(c) enhance the interaction between the domain expert and computational heuristics in the knowledge construction process. We present three visualizations designed to support knowledge mining in criminal investigations that have been tested with real data and evaluated by legal scholars and public prosecutors within a computational crime analysis project.
