The challenge of enhancing underwater images is difficult because of several issues, including color distortion, inadequate illumination, and dispersion from suspended particles in the water. Conventional picture enhancing methods frequently find it difficult to resolve these problems. Thanks to its ability to learn intricate representations and pick up on minute features, deep learning has become a potent tool for picture improvement tasks in recent years. In this work, we suggest a novel deep learning-based method for improving underwater images. To automatically learn and improve the visual quality of underwater scenes, we use a convolutional neural network architecture that is specifically made to handle underwater photos. A sizable dataset of underwater photos is used to train the network, with an emphasis on contrast improvement and color correction. We compare our method with many state-of-the-art techniques and undertake extensive tests on a benchmark dataset to evaluate our approach. The outcomes show that our strategy performs much better than current approaches both in terms of subjective visual quality and objective criteria. Our technique improves visibility, minimizes noise, and successfully restores colors in underwater photos. By presenting a deep learning-based method that enhances the visual quality of underwater photographs, this work advances the field of underwater image processing and aids in marine research, underwater exploration, and surveillance.

We study the task of embodied visual active learning, where an agent is set to explore a 3d environment with the goal to acquire visual scene understanding by actively selecting views for which to request annotation. While accurate on some benchmarks, today's deep visual recognition pipelines tend to not generalize well in certain real-world scenarios, or for unusual viewpoints. Robotic perception, in turn, requires the capability to refine the recognition capabilities for the conditions where the mobile system operates, including cluttered indoor environments or poor illumination. This motivates the proposed task, where an agent is placed in a novel environment with the objective of improving its visual recognition capability. To study embodied visual active learning, we develop a battery of agents - both learnt and pre-specified - and with different levels of knowledge of the environment. The agents are equipped with a semantic segmentation network and seek to acquire informative views, move and explore in order to propagate annotations in the neighbourhood of those views, then refine the underlying segmentation network by online retraining. The trainable method uses deep reinforcement learning with a reward function that balances two competing objectives: task performance, represented as visual recognition accuracy, which requires exploring the environment, and the necessary amount of annotated data requested during active exploration. We extensively evaluate the proposed models using the photorealistic Matterport3D simulator and show that a fully learnt method outperforms comparable pre-specified counterparts, even when requesting fewer annotations.

The escalating global energy demand, driven by population growth and technological advancements, underscores the need for effective energy management strategies, particularly in residential settings where electrical appliances dominate power consumption. Current methods, relying on kWh meters, often fail to provide nuanced insights into individual appliance usage, prompting the exploration of innovative approaches for appliance identification. This research investigates the application of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for household appliance identification based on electrical signatures. The study begins with a comprehensive literature review, exploring appliance recognition algorithms, convolutional neural networks, device identification methods, visual signatures, spectrogram analysis, and current sensors. The methodology chapter outlines a systematic approach, including the conceptual framework, system process flow, experimental setup, program development, data collection, CNN model training, and performance evaluation. Spectrograms are generated from wave signals of the five appliances namely: electric kettle, Air-Conditioning Unit, Rice Cooker, Electric Fan, and Light. CNN program is utilized to train and test appliances based on spectrogram. The final testing phase assesses the program's ability to accurately identify appliances using appliances that were not on the initial list. The result shows that the three-appliance identification was more accurate than the four and five appliance identification, with a model loss of 0.000481 and 1.0, a model loss of 0.1422 and an accuracy of 0.9297, and a model loss of 1.4150 and 0.5409 respectively.

The Janus project seeks to address the variability dimension of Big data by modeling, exploring, and analyzing such change, providing valuable insights into the evolving real world and ways in which data about it are collected and used. We start by identifying technical challenges that need to be addressed to realize the Janus vision. Towards this end, we have extracted and worked with the histories of various structured datasets, including DBLP, IMDB, open government data, and Wikipedia, for which a detailed history of every edit is available. Our DBChEx (database Change Explorer) prototype enables interactive exploration of data and schema changes, and we show how DBChEx can help users gain valuable insights by exploring two real-world datasets, IMDB and Wikipedia infoboxes. Based on an analysis of the history of 3.5M tables on the English Wikipedia for a total of 53.8M table versions, we then illustrate the rich history of structured Wikipedia data: we show that tables are created in certain locations, they change their shape, they move, they grow, they shrink, their data change, they vanish, and they re-appear;indeed, each table has a life of its own. Finally, to help automatically interpret the useful knowledge harbored in the history of Wikipedia tables, we present recent results on two technical problems: (i) identifying Natural Keys, a particularly important piece of metadata, which serves as a primary key in tables over time and consists of attributes inherent to an entity, and (ii) matching tables, infoboxes and lists within a Wikipedia page across page revisions. We solve these problems at scale and make the resulting curated datasets available to the community to facilitate future research.

Kuwait's rapid urban expansion, driven by large-scale projects, such as AI-Mutlaa City and Silk City, highlights the need for comprehensive geotechnical data to support sustainable development. However, detailed studies on the subsurface geotechnical characteristics of the northern regions of Kuwait are lacking. This study focuses on establishing a preliminary geotechnical database, addressing challenges encountered during its development, and conducting a pilot analysis for AI-Mutlaa City. A questionnaire was distributed to geology, environmental, geotechnical, and engineering professionals to identify the challenges associated with creating the database. The survey revealed issues such as inconsistent data formats, limited access to borehole logs, and the hesitancy of private firms to share data due to security concerns. Despite these challenges, borehole data from ministries and private organizations were collected and organized using Microsoft Excel. These data formed the foundation of the geotechnical database, which was analyzed and visualized using Geographic Information System (GIS) tools. The pilot study in AI-Mutlaa City revealed predominantly dense soil layers, with significant variations in soil strength at a depth of 19.5 m, where standard penetration resistance ranged from 10 to 50 blows. These findings emphasize the variability of soil properties in the area and underscore the importance of site-specific investigations. The established geotechnical database provides valuable insights for construction planning, risk assessment, and geohazard management. Moving forward, the integration of artificial intelligence into the database is planned to enhance data processing, automate soil classification, and predict subsurface conditions in an effort to contribute to advanced geotechnical practices in Kuwait.

The Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILDs) are characterized by lung fibrosis (scarring). Nodule, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and Honeycomb are the main categories of ILDs. The goal of medical image fusion is to create a unified representation of clinical information from multiple sources that can be used for more accurate diagnosis. Using image enhancing approaches along with fusion techniques that are based on wavelet transform and IHS transform-based techniques may help with early detection of these ILDs. A mathematical technique called wavelet transformations can record changes in edges and textures at various sizes in images. A frequent sharpening approach is the IHS method, which includes transforming a color picture from the RGB space to the IHS space using a variety of operations. More precise abnormality extraction can be achieved by using image fusion and enhancement techniques and assessing those using metrics like Structural Similarity Index Method (SSIM), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Global Consistency Error (GCE) across various pulmonary image modalities. The SvM classifier uses characteristics that were retrieved from upgraded pictures to categorize the illness, improving prognosis, preventing severe diseases and diagnosing ILDs at the earliest.

The authors propose a software package for analysis, visualization and computer monitoring of agrophytocenoses with biotechnological methods of reproduction, which provides detection of contamination of nutrient media and plant explants through technical vision, digital sensors, analysis of digital images using machine learning libraries for subsequent processing by artificial neural networks. Serial communication is provided by means of the RS-485 data transmission standard. The software and hardware complex is built on the modern hardware platform of the ATmega-328/2560 microprocessor and the high-performance ESP-32 microprocessor with the Tensilica Xtensa LX6 core in single-core and dual-core versions. The controlled parameters of visual assessment include: drying of the nutrient medium;detachment of the dense nutrient medium from the surface of the test tubes;the presence of crystals on the surface or in the depth of the medium;uneven filling of the dense nutrient medium;insufficient amount of medium in the test tube (volume less than 35 ml), a change in the color of the medium compared to the regulated one (may be caused by deviations in the pH of the medium or the growth of contaminants): color change and the appearance of turbidity may indicate bacterial or fungal infection (contamination);obvious contamination by microorganisms of the explant itself (a color different from various shades of green for growing meristemic micro-plants);the presence of foreign inclusions in the medium. A promising direction for further research in the framework of studying the problems of increasing the productivity of agrophytocenoses based on automated analysis, visualization and computer monitoring using microprocessor hardware platforms is the development of intelligent algorithms and software implementing them to control the growth and development of plants with the formation of datasets of images on a video series for the purpose of subsequent expert markup and processing

Scientific workflows and provenance are two faces of the same medal. While the former addresses the coordinated execution of multiple tasks over a set of computational resources, the latter relates to the historical record of data from its original sources. This paper highlights the importance of tracking multi-level provenance metadata in complex, AI-based scientific workflows as a way to (i) foster and (ii) expand documentation of experiments, (iii) enable reproducibility, (iv) address interpretability of the results, (v) facilitate performance bottlenecks diagnosis, and (vi) advance provenance exploration and analysis opportunities.

The contribution is aimed to the numerical modeling of low-velocity impact and validation of the hyperplastic material model with damage designed by authors for modeling of woven fabric reinforced composites and implemented into commercial FEM software Abaqus. The composite plates were subjected to the low- velocity impact by usage of the drop-test machine with two types of impactor differed by the weight. The experimental data of the tested composite plate in form of deflections at three selected measurement points and the contact force - time dependencies were compared for particular impact velocities with the numerical simulations. The visual comparison of the occurrence of damage on the composite plates was performed and compared with corresponding damage results obtained from the computational model. © 2022 Department of Mechanics K132 FSv CvUT, design & code by PB.

The Indian National Electronic Terrain Repository for Aviation, or iNetra, is a comprehensive geospatial big data platform designed to revolutionize aeronautical data management for the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which is the airport developer and sole Air Navigation Service Provider in India. SatSure developed this multi-module system, which helps transition from traditional paper-based processes to an automated, digital workflow aligned with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and recommended practices. The platform integrates advanced technologies, including high-resolution satellite imagery, PostgreSQL database management, and Geographic Information System (GIS) functionalities, for efficient data acquisition, processing, storage, and visualization. Some of the key modules include Electronic Terrain and Obstacle data (eTOD), Aerodrome Mapping database (AMDB), and Electronic Charting (eCharting), deployed across five international airports in India. iNetra addresses critical challenges in aeronautical data management by providing dynamic, time-stamped, and validated data ingestion capabilities. The global standards which the system upholds are supported by strong data security protocols, such as a 32-bit Cyclic Redundancy Check. Seamless data exchange, removal of redundant operations, and the support for transforming an Aeronautical Information Service into an Aeronautical Information Management and thus make iNetra mark a technological frontier in the evolution of aviation information management in India.
